DENZA D9 Duo Flash Charging Edition launched in Hong Kong, priced from HK$798,000

DENZA has introduced the new D9 Duo Flash Charging Edition in Hong Kong, with prices starting at HK$798,000 for the front-wheel-drive (FWD) version and HK$868,000 for the all-wheel-drive (AWD) model.

The latest version of the luxury seven-seat MPV brings BYD's second-generation Blade Battery, Flash Charging technology and dual-standard charging ports for both China's GB/T and Europe's CCS Type 2 charging systems.

Beyond charging, the D9 also receives improvements to its cabin equipment, passenger comfort, luggage capacity and suspension system.

Dual charging ports supported

One of the Denza D9 Duo's key features is its two separate charging ports, supporting both GB/T and CCS Type 2 standards.

This addresses a common inconvenience for EV owners travelling between Hong Kong and China's mainland, where different charging standards are used. With both connections built into the vehicle, drivers no longer need to carry a separate charging adapter when crossing the border.

Second-generation Blade Battery

The updated D9 is equipped with a 115.07kWh second-generation BYD Blade Battery, which offers around 5% higher energy density. Its maximum claimed range is 608km, although this figure is still subject to final official certification.

The battery also supports BYD Flash Charging. Under suitable charging conditions, the battery can be charged from 10% to 70% in as little as five minutes, or from 10% to 97% in approximately nine minutes.

These charging times are designed to make longer journeys more convenient, with a short charging stop potentially providing enough energy to continue the trip.

More comfort and space in the seven-seat cabin

The cabin has received several upgrades, particularly for second-row passengers. The Premium AWD variant gets a velvet-finish roof lining, which is intended to give the interior a more upmarket feel while also improving sound insulation.

The second-row Air Spa seats feature position memory, 16-point massage and heating and ventilation functions. Passengers in the third row also benefit from four-way electric seat adjustment and dedicated heating and ventilation outlets.

Luggage capacity has increased substantially, from the previous 410–570 litres to 689–882 litres. DENZA says the boot can accommodate up to 11 standard suitcases and nine backpacks with all seven seats in use. Folding the third row at the touch of a button expands the maximum cargo capacity to 2,436 litres.

Audio and entertainment equipment has also been upgraded. All variants come with a 16-channel Devialet sound system, while the Premium AWD adds two 12.8-inch high-definition multimedia screens for second-row passengers.

The MPV also features a six-zone voice recognition system, allowing occupants throughout the cabin to issue voice commands. Google Automotive Services, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are integrated into the infotainment system.

Safety equipment includes nine airbags, a built-in dashcam and a Child Presence Detection (CPD) system designed to detect when a child is left unattended inside the vehicle.

DiSus-C suspension aims to improve ride comfort

The D9 Duo uses MacPherson front suspension and a multi-link rear setup, complemented by BYD's DiSus-C intelligent damping control system with dual-valve technology.

Using sensors to monitor vehicle movements and road conditions, the system adjusts shock absorber damping in milliseconds. It is designed to reduce body movement and absorb bumps more effectively, whether the vehicle is travelling through urban streets, on motorways or on longer journeys.

With its dual-standard charging ports, faster charging capability and more spacious, better-equipped cabin, the updated DENZA D9 Duo is positioned as a more versatile luxury MPV for both business and family use in Hong Kong.
