Polestar 5 launched in Hong Kong – up to 884 hp, from HK$1,749,000

Polestar has just launched its flagship electric GT, the Polestar 5, in Hong Kong. Two variants are available: the Dual Motor, priced at HK$1,749,000, and the range-topping Performance, which costs HK$1,999,000.

First unveiled at IAA Mobility 2025, the Polestar 5 is based on the design of the earlier Precept concept. As the brand's flagship model, it combines a low-slung GT body with a high-performance electric powertrain.

The Polestar 5 stays close to the Precept concept's design, particularly at the front. There's no conventional grille, while the split headlights feature Polestar's distinctive dual L-shaped lighting signature.

Its long, flowing roofline and low stance give it the proportions of a traditional grand tourer. But the biggest talking point is at the back.

Polestar has removed the rear windscreen entirely, replacing it with a camera that feeds a live view of what's behind the car. The unusual arrangement also helps improve aerodynamics.

Inside, the Polestar 5 features a 9-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.5-inch portrait infotainment touchscreen and a 9.3-inch head-up display.

Wireless phone charging, a Bowers & Wilkins sound system and Pilot Assist driver assistance are also included.

Polestar has also paid close attention to the materials used throughout the cabin. Among them are flax-based ampliTex composites, Econyl carpets made using discarded fishing nets, and headlining produced from recycled PET.

Underneath, the Polestar 5 uses the brand's Polestar Performance Architecture (PPA), featuring a bonded aluminium body structure designed to provide high rigidity without unnecessary weight.

Both variants come with dual-motor all-wheel drive, but the Performance model gets a substantial boost in output.

The standard Dual Motor produces 550 kW and 812 Nm of torque, while the Performance version increases those figures to 650 kW and 1,015 Nm. With the extra power, the Performance can accelerate from 0–100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds.

Both models come with Brembo four-piston brake calipers, while the Performance version also benefits from MagneRide active electromagnetic dampers.

The Polestar 5 uses an 800V electrical architecture and a 112 kWh battery pack. According to WLTP figures, the Dual Motor offers up to 678 km of range, while the Performance is rated at 558 km.
