EPICLAND X9 opens pre-orders in China: Range-extender powertrain, 1,500 km range, from RMB 299,800

The EPICLAND X9, which made its appearance at the Hong Kong International Auto Expo, has now opened pre-orders in China.

The six-seat, three-row SUV is offered in three variants, priced from RMB 299,800 to RMB 379,800. It comes with a range-extender powertrain and Huawei technology including HarmonySpace 6, the Qiankun ADS 5 driver-assistance system and other cabin and chassis features.

The EPICLAND X9 claims a combined range of more than 1,500 km, while the pure-electric range is rated at up to 465 km.

Exterior

Up front, the EPICLAND X9 gets a closed-off grille with split headlamps. A full-width daytime running light runs across the top, while the main lights sit lower down and blend into the front bumper.

The side profile is long and fairly clean, with multi-spoke alloy wheels and semi-hidden door handles.

It is a three-row, six-seat SUV. The rear-wheel-drive version measures 5,301 mm long, 2,015 mm wide and 1,820 mm tall. The four-wheel-drive version is 1,805 mm tall, while the wheelbase measures 3,120 mm.

At the back, there is a full-width tail-light, while the number plate sits in a recessed section of the tailgate. The rear bumper also follows the styling of the front end.

The X9 makes good use of the available space. The third-row seat cushion is 1,101 mm wide, while the boot offers 484 litres with all six seats occupied. Fold the third row down and that expands to 1,368 litres.

Interior and technology

Inside, the EPICLAND X9 takes a decidedly tech-heavy approach. The centrepiece is a 17.2-inch dual-screen setup with a wide 21:10 aspect ratio. Both displays have a 3.4K resolution and 98% DCI-P3 colour coverage, while the screens use a nano-etched surface designed to reduce glare.

The screens are mounted centrally, allowing both the driver and front passenger to operate their respective displays. The front passenger can also use the screen without having to lean across, with the setup designed to give both front occupants their own digital space.

The X9 also introduces HarmonySpace, Huawei's in-car smart cockpit system, along with the Xiaoyi AI assistant based on the MoLA 2.0 architecture. It can handle navigation, vehicle controls and general voice commands, allowing different functions to be controlled through natural conversation.

There is also an AMS in-cabin AI sensing system, which combines an 8-megapixel RGB camera, a 2-megapixel infrared camera and a NearLink sensor. The system monitors occupants, recognises gestures and tracks where the user is pointing.

For the audio system, EPICLAND has added an AI sound-tuning system with 260 mixing parameters, covering different driving scenarios. An AI surround-sound function is also included, while a small interactive robot called HAMOMO provides an extra bit of entertainment inside the cabin.

Comfort and cabin features

The X9 also puts plenty of emphasis on passenger comfort. The front passenger gets a Queen seat, while the second row features two zero-gravity seats.

The seats come with a three-mode massage system combining airbag, mechanical and actuator-based massage. There is also a dual-opening refrigerated compartment with a compressor-based cooling and heating system, with the temperature adjustable from -6°C to 50°C.

Huawei-powered driver assistance

The X9 comes with Huawei's latest dual-optical-path LiDAR as standard, together with three solid-state LiDAR sensors.

According to EPICLAND, the upgraded hardware improves lateral detection accuracy by 500% and distance detection accuracy by 200%.

It is designed to pick up smaller obstacles such as roadside drains, steps, fire hydrants and kerbs, giving the driver-assistance system more information to work with.

Range-extender powertrain

Power comes from a range-extender setup paired with a 74 kWh battery pack. The X9 has a claimed pure-electric range of up to 465 km, while its combined range exceeds 1,500 km.

The SUV is also built around Huawei's Qiankun Chitu platform, which brings the powertrain, brakes, steering, suspension, body and thermal management systems together under a single vehicle control architecture.

Underneath, the X9 gets dual-chamber air suspension and EDC dampers, along with 14-degree rear-wheel steering in both directions. The latter helps bring the turning radius down to just 5.3 metres, which should make the large SUV easier to manoeuvre in tighter urban spaces and car parks.
