Hong Kong's new car sales figures for June 2026 have been officially released.
According to the latest monthly statistical data published by the Transport Department, the iCaur V23 secured the number-one position on the charts, logging 183 units. The second and third positions were captured by the Wuling Darion EV and the perennial chart fixture, the BYD Sealion 7, which registered 159 units and 145 units respectively.

Isolating the raw volume data, the Hong Kong automotive market continues to show resilience two months after the official conclusion of the tax-incentive "One-for-One" scheme. The leading vehicle models on the chart have comfortably crossed the thousand-unit registration threshold cumulatively.
However, prior information from the Transport Department indicates that a substantial backlog of new vehicle registration applications was received right before the scheme's final deadline. Because those specific backlogged files required until mid-May to be fully processed, the artificial inflation heavily skewed the registration data for April and May. This operational timeline explains why new vehicle registration numbers remained exceptionally high during those initial months before returning to reality and normalising in June.

Another critical point of observation stems from the specific composition of the best-selling models. Despite the expiration of government policy incentives and tax concessions, Hong Kong consumer preferences have decisively pivoted towards pure electric vehicles.
Within the top ten best-selling models on the June chart, only a single internal combustion hybrid vehicle — the Toyota Alphard — managed to secure a spot. This distribution provides definitive evidence that electric vehicles have gradually become the dominant force within the new car marketplace.
