2026-10-01 13:40:00

Model Overview

The AVATR 07 is the third production model from AVATR Technology—a premium smart electric vehicle marque jointly developed by Changan Automobile, Huawei, and CATL—positioned as a "Smart Urban Luxury SUV". The SUV was officially launched on 20 September 2025 in conjunction with the rollout of AVATR Strategy 2.0, spearheading the brand's strategic push from the niche high-end segment into the mainstream market. The 2026 AVATR 07 line-up comprises six variants across range-extender (EREV) and pure electric (BEV) powertrains, with official retail prices ranging from RM219,900 to RM279,900, brought down to an entry price of RM209,900 under limited-time launch incentives. Built around a "generously equipped as standard" product philosophy, it goes head-to-head with mainstream contenders such as the Li Auto L6, Tesla Model Y, and Zeekr 7X in the RM200,000 to RM300,000 new energy SUV segment.

Design Language

The AVATR 07 continues the brand's signature "Future Aesthetics" design philosophy, featuring a disc-wing front fascia flanked by iconic double-tier LED daytime running lights and a subtly concave closed-off front grille panel that seamlessly blends high-tech flair with sportiness. The 2026 model introduces a new "Clear Blue" exterior paint option, drawing inspiration from where Alpine glaciers meet pristine skies. In profile, the SUV sports frameless doors and flush pop-out door handles, with soft-close doors newly fitted as standard across the entire 2026 range, complemented by an illuminated "AVATR" emblem on the tailgate and star-track flowing LED taillights. In terms of dimensions, the vehicle measures 4,825 mm long, 1,980 mm wide, and 1,610 mm (or 1,620 mm) tall, riding on a 2,940 mm wheelbase. Inside, the 2026 model gains a new "Rock Brown" cabin theme, extensively trimmed in soft-touch surfaces and microfibre suede to deliver an upscale ambience. Up front, dual zero-gravity massage seats come with 16-way power adjustment alongside ventilation, heating, and massage functions. Boot capacity stands at a practical 500 litres, expandable to 1,325 litres with the rear seats folded down.

Powertrain & Performance

The 2026 AVATR 07 is offered with a choice of two powertrain setups: range-extender (EREV) and pure electric (BEV). The EREV variant is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder range extender (115 kW maximum output) paired with a rear-mounted permanent magnet synchronous electric motor (231 kW / 333 Nm), completing the century sprint (0-100 km/h) in 6.6 seconds. Powering the system are two CATL Freevoy lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack options: the Elite and Max+ variants get a 39.05 kWh pack offering a CLTC pure electric range of 245 km; the Ultra variant packs a larger 52.01 kWh unit delivering 333 km of CLTC pure electric range and an overall range of 1,200 km, supporting 5C ultra-fast charging to replenish from 30% to 80% in under 10 minutes. The BEV variants are built on an 800V high-voltage Silicon Carbide (SiC) architecture, packing an 82.16 kWh CATL Shenxing supercharge battery. The single-motor RWD version delivers 252 kW (343 PS) and 365 Nm with a CLTC range of 650 km; the dual-motor AWD version churns out a combined 440 kW (598 PS) and 645 Nm, darting from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds with a 610 km CLTC range, supporting peak DC charging rates of up to 420 kW to complete a 30%-80% state of charge in a mere 10 minutes.

Chassis & Handling

Underneath, the AVATR 07 rides on front double wishbone and rear multi-link independent suspension setups, featuring upper and lower control arms forged from silicon-magnesium-aluminium alloy to significantly lower unsprung mass and sharpen handling responses. The 2026 AVATR 07 is equipped with an upgraded Taihang Intelligent Chassis System, seamlessly integrating smart driving, chassis control, and powertrain domains. High-spec variants are upgraded with intelligent air suspension and CDC dynamic damping shock absorbers that automatically adjust ride height and damping stiffness, working alongside a magic carpet preview function that scans road surfaces in advance to effectively minimise body roll and pitch. The SUV records a moose test speed of ≥82 km/h and a 100-0 km/h braking distance of ≤34.5 metres. Dynamics are further enhanced by REPS speed-sensitive electric power steering, iGVC intelligent cornering vector control, and iSTC intelligent steering torque control, ensuring agility at low speeds and rock-solid stability on highways. Hydraulic bushings are fitted at the rear suspension-to-body mountings to isolate vibrations and elevate ride comfort.

Cabin & Equipment

The cockpit features a "four-screen interactive" layout, headlined by a 35.4-inch 4K integrated panoramic pillar-to-pillar display and a 15.6-inch 2K floating centre touchscreen, with higher trims offering optional twin 6.7-inch digital side mirror monitors and a digital rear-view mirror. The infotainment system premieres Huawei HarmonySpace 5 (HarmonyOS Cockpit 5), introducing the MoLA architecture integrated with five core AI agents for navigation, vehicle controls, multimedia, and general LLMs, enabling natural voice recognition that understands spontaneous conversational commands. Standard equipment across the board includes a 25-speaker Meridian sound system, dual front zero-gravity massage seats, four-zone automatic climate control, a panoramic glass roof with an electric sunshade, and an optional 4-litre smart onboard heating and cooling mini-fridge.

Safety & Intelligent Driving

On the active safety and driver assistance front, the 2026 AVATR 07 comes standard across the range with the Huawei Qiankun ADS 4 system powered by Huawei's WEWA architecture (World Engine + World Action Model), slashing end-to-end latency by 50% and boosting traffic flow efficiency by 20%. The sensing suite comprises a four-layer perception setup packing a 192-line LiDAR unit, three 4D millimetre-wave radars, and a total of 27 sensors. Feature-wise, it supports Urban NOA, Highway NOA, and Space-to-Space 2.0 full-scenario automated valet parking (covering over 500,000 car parks). Active safety is backed by the CAS 4.0 all-direction collision avoidance system, with front AEB capable of bringing the car to a complete stop from speeds up to 130 km/h, and eAES executing automated emergency evasive steering at up to 135 km/h. Passive safety is reinforced by a "six-horizontal and nine-vertical" ultra-high-strength cage body structure, nine airbags as standard, and a full five-star C-NCAP crash safety rating.

Market Performance & Verdict

Leveraging the technological backing of the "Big Three" joint-venture partners—Changan, Huawei, and CATL—along with a "fully loaded from the base trim" value strategy, the AVATR 07 swiftly established itself as the marque's core volume driver. Data shows that AVATR's cumulative brand sales surpassed 120,000 units in 2025, with the AVATR 07 single-handedly accounting for more than half of that volume. The model registered 53,215 deliveries in 2025 and 5,846 units in the first quarter of 2026, commanding a 52.43% share of AVATR's total sales, with December 2025 deliveries alone hitting 5,700 units. Industry commentators view the AVATR 07 as the definitive turning point that transformed the marque from a niche contender into a mass-market hit. Owners have widely praised the seamless driving assistance enabled by Huawei's full-stack smart ecosystem, the versatility of dual powertrain offerings, and its compelling value proposition; criticism has mainly pointed to rear legroom being relatively average for its class and minor fit-and-finish details that could be tightened up. Overall, bolstered by Huawei's dual smart technologies (ADS 4 and HarmonySpace 5), CATL's top-tier battery hardware, and sharp pricing, the AVATR 07 has carved out a distinct identity with its "tech-to-price value" in the RM200,000 to RM300,000 new energy SUV arena, serving as the core bedrock of the AVATR brand.
