On May 19, Xiaomi Auto officially announced that its high-performance all-electric SUV, the YU7 GT, set a new SUV lap record at the Nürburgring Nordschleife. Chief test driver Ren Zhoucan piloted a production‑spec YU7 GT to a blistering 7 minutes 34.931 seconds, making it the fastest production SUV ever to lap the legendary circuit. Ren also became the first Chinese driver to receive an official Nürburgring lap time certification.

According to the latest Nürburgring SUV leaderboard, the Xiaomi YU7 GT sits on top with 7:34.931, beating the previous record of 7:36.698 set by the Audi RS Q8 Performance. The Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT follows in third at 7:38.925. Powering the YU7 GT is a dual‑motor all‑wheel‑drive system: a 288kW front motor from Huichuan paired with Xiaomi’s self‑developed 450kW V8s rear motor, delivering a combined 738kW (1,003 hp) and over 1,200 N·m of torque. The SUV rockets from 0–100 km/h in just 2.95 seconds and hits a top speed of 300 km/h.

The chassis was tuned by Xiaomi’s Munich European R&D Center, with engineers previously from Porsche, Lamborghini and Mercedes‑Benz, logging thousands of kilometres at the Nürburgring. It comes standard with carbon‑ceramic brakes, air suspension and high‑performance tyres. Ren Zhoucan, who previously set lap records at Shanghai International Circuit and with the SU7 Ultra on the Nordschleife, said the YU7 GT has proven itself as a genuine track weapon.

Despite its extreme performance, the YU7 GT retains impressive practicality. Its 101.7 kWh ternary lithium battery, based on an 800V platform, delivers 705 km of CLTC range. Fast charging adds 10%–80% in just 12 minutes. The SUV measures 5,015 mm in length, 2,007 mm in width and 1,597 mm in height, with a 3,000 mm wheelbase. Exterior cues include a low‑slung GT silhouette, wide body kit, distinctive front splitter and red GT badging, while the red‑on‑black “Track Red” cabin features Alcantara, carbon fibre and embroidered sports seats.

Xiaomi YU7 GT will officially launch on May 21 at 19:00 Beijing time. Prices are expected to start between 400,000 and 500,000 RMB. For Hong Kong buyers, no right‑hand‑drive version has been announced. If homologated under the “One‑for‑One Replacement” EV tax scheme, the YU7 GT would land at approximately HK$440,000–550,000, directly challenging the Tesla Model Y Performance and Mercedes‑EQE SUV. No RHD timeline or distributor plans have been confirmed yet.
