Smart has officially announced that its all-new mid-size luxury hatchback sedan, the Smart #6, will open pre-orders at the Beijing Auto Show on April 24. The Smart #2 prototype concept car, a pure-electric two-seat city vehicle, will also make its debut alongside it.

The Smart #6 is the brand's first mid-size luxury hatchback sedan. Designed by the Mercedes-Benz global design team, it continues the “Sensual · Sharply” design philosophy inspired by the shark — graceful while gliding, aggressive when striking. The closed front grille features blackened through-type headlights and a shark-inspired air duct. A LiDAR unit is integrated into the roofline. The vehicle measures 4,906 mm in length, 1,922 mm in width, and 1,508 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,926 mm — marking Smart’s first expansion into the mid-size sedan segment. The PixelTalk light matrix integrates 10,666 LEDs for interactive lighting.

Inside, a dual-screen layout combines the central and front passenger displays. Nappa leather seats and a 20-speaker Sennheiser sound system with 7.1.4 channels and over 2,000W peak power are featured. The EHD super hybrid powertrain pairs a 1.5T engine (120 kW) with an electric motor, delivering 320 kW combined power. With 20 kWh or 41.46 kWh battery options, CLTC pure-electric range reaches 285 km, and total range extends to 1,810 km. FSD variable dampers and ZF closed-loop steering are standard. The Smart #6 will launch in the second half of 2026.

The Smart #2 prototype concept evolves from the original Smart Fortwo, positioning itself as an all-electric two-seat city car. It retains the classic “four wheels at corners” layout and rear-wheel drive, with body length estimated between 2.7 and 3.1 metres. The closed front grille features a parametric diamond star pattern. Built on the dedicated ECA platform, the single rear motor delivers 45–60 kW. A 30 kWh battery pack offers over 300 km of CLTC range, with L2 ADAS support. A hardtop version will debut first, followed by a convertible variant. Production is scheduled for late 2026.

With the #6 pushing into the premium hatchback segment and the #2 reviving the brand‘s urban mobility roots, Smart is accelerating its strategic expansion across luxury, electrification, and intelligence. For Hong Kong car enthusiasts, both models are well worth watching. More details will follow after the Beijing Auto Show opens on April 24.
