Chinese automaker Exeed has officially announced that its all-new flagship SUV, the EX7, will go on sale on April 19. The vehicle features the latest family design language and is the first production model to be equipped with the “AI Smart Cabin 2.0,” delivering a major upgrade in intelligent interior experience. The EX7 is offered with both range-extended (EREV) and pure-electric (BEV) powertrains, and it is also the first to adopt aviation-grade electromechanical brake-by-wire (EMB) system, meeting Hong Kong car enthusiasts’ demands for technology, performance and range.

The EX7 adopts Exeed’s latest design language. At the front, it gets split-type headlights with a popular full-width light bar on top, while the lower section features a full-width chrome trim, creating a harmonious and flowing look. This design makes the front end appear wider and more futuristic.
From the side, the body lines are full and muscular, complemented by hidden door handles that reduce drag and add a tech touch. Dimensions: length 4,988mm, width 1,975mm, height 1,710mm, wheelbase 3,000mm – placing it in the mid-to-large SUV segment with generous interior space.
At the rear, a full-width light bar is joined by a “smart driving blue light,” improving nighttime visibility. The tailgate features a concave design that adds layering and a solid stance.

Inside, the centrepiece is a 30-inch integrated LCD screen that merges the central display and front passenger entertainment screen. This is the “AI Smart Cabin 2.0,” which includes six personality voices for the voice assistant, allowing drivers and passengers to choose different tones and response styles – truly a personalised experience.

Other highlights include an oval two-spoke steering wheel, a separate digital instrument cluster, front wireless phone charging, a streaming media rearview mirror, dual cup holders, genuine leather seats, a panoramic sunroof, and rear air conditioning vents. The front central armrest has a hollowedout lower section, greatly improving storage space – perfect for a handbag or shoe box.

The EX7’s powertrain is a key selling point. The EREV version uses a 1.5T range extender with a maximum engine output of 115 kW. Paired with two battery options (39.816 kWh / 39.9168 kWh), it delivers pure-electric ranges of 182 km and 203 km respectively. For daily Hong Kong commuting, this pure-electric range is more than enough, and the range extender eliminates range anxiety on longer trips.
The BEV version adopts a dual-motor setup: front motor 123 kW, rear motor 230 kW, offering strong combined output. With a 97.682 kWh battery, range reaches 682 km or 726 km depending on the test cycle – plenty for trips between Hong Kong and other Greater Bay Area cities. The BEV also provides seven driving modes to suit various road conditions and driver preferences.

The EX7 is one of the world’s first massproduction vehicles to adopt an aviationgrade electromechanical brake-by-wire (EMB) system. Traditional hydraulic brakes are replaced by electronic signals and electromechanical actuators, resulting in faster response, shorter braking distances, and more precise integration with driverassistance systems. This technology was previously used mainly in aviation; now applied to civilian EVs, it enhances both safety and handling.

In summary, the Exeed EX7 stands out with its AI Smart Cabin 2.0 for intelligent interaction, generous midtolarge SUV space, dual powertrain options for different needs, and the aviationgrade EMB system that raises the technological bar. Although there is no official timeline for the Hong Kong market yet, as automotive exchanges between mainland China and Hong Kong grow, a highperformance electric SUV like this is likely to attract local enthusiasts. Following its official launch on April 19, we will continue to bring you more test drive news.
