The NETA S is the flagship executive four-door coupe under Hozon Auto's NETA marque. Debuted in 2022, it is offered with dual powertrain options: range-extender EV (EREV) and pure battery electric (BEV). Boasting key selling points such as a sub-5-metre length, a 2,980 mm wheelbase, front double-wishbone with rear multi-link suspension, and a brisk 3.9-second century sprint for the AWD variant, it takes aim squarely at the RM150,000 to RM250,000 bracket. However, severely impacted by the brand's ongoing crisis, showroom deliveries have practically ground to a halt.

Positioned as an executive four-door coupe, the model sits under the NETA Auto (Hozon Auto) umbrella. Key highlights include an overall length of 4,980 mm, a 2,980 mm wheelbase, front double-wishbone + rear five-link suspension, up to 310 km of pure electric range on the EREV version, and a 0-100 km/h sprint in 3.9 seconds on the AWD model. The 2024 line-up comprises seven variants, with indicative pricing ranging from RM154,800 to RM189,300 for the EREV variants and RM154,800 to RM224,800 for the BEV variants.
Measuring 4,980 mm long, 1,980 mm wide, and 1,450 mm tall with a 2,980 mm wheelbase, its low-slung, wide-body stance paired with a sleek fastback silhouette yields a low drag coefficient of just 0.216 Cd. Standard across the range are frameless doors, flush-fitting pop-out door handles, a panoramic heat-insulating glass roof, and 6 mm acoustic laminated glass for all four doors. Range-topping variants gain "Shining Red" high-performance four-piston brake callipers and a 60-litre front luggage compartment (frunk).
Inside, the cabin takes on a minimalist, tech-focused aesthetic, featuring a steering-column-mounted electronic gear shifter and a 17.6-inch 2.5K portrait central touchscreen as standard, while top-spec trims add a 12.3-inch front passenger entertainment screen and an augmented reality head-up display (AR-HUD). In terms of seating, higher-spec variants are trimmed in a combination of genuine leather and suede, complete with seat heating, ventilation, and massage functions, as well as rear sleeping headrests.
Range-Extended Version (EREV): Powered by a 1.5-litre four-cylinder range-extender petrol engine (95 PS) paired with a rear electric motor (170 kW / 231 PS / 310 Nm), completing the 0-100 km/h sprint in 8.6 seconds. It is available with either a 31.7 kWh or a 43.9 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack, delivering a CLTC pure electric range of 200 km and 310 km, respectively.
Pure Electric Version (BEV): The RWD variant delivers 170 kW / 310 Nm with a 0-100 km/h time of 6.9 to 7.4 seconds, while the dual-motor AWD flagship puts out 340 kW / 620 Nm, dispatching 0-100 km/h in 3.9 seconds. Battery capacities range from 64.46 kWh to 91 kWh, yielding a CLTC-rated range of 520 km to 715 km.
All variants support DC fast charging (30% to 80% in approximately 35 minutes) and 3.3 kW Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) external power supply, supported by the HEPT 4.0 intelligent battery thermal management system.
The entire range rides on front double-wishbone and rear five-link independent suspension, incorporating extensive aluminium alloy components for a taut, planted chassis feel. The RWD variant uses a rear-motor rear-wheel-drive layout, whereas the AWD version features an electric all-wheel-drive setup, fitted with 245/45 R19 tyres. Standard chassis hardware includes an Integrated Dynamic Braking (IDB) system, an RCU redundant backup braking controller, and single-pedal drive mode.
Driven by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 processor, the cabin comes standard with a 17.6-inch centre screen running the PIVOT OS operating system, supporting full-vehicle Over-The-Air (OTA) updates and an AI voice assistant (featuring a 300 ms response time and a 99% "see and speak" recognition rate). High-spec models add AR live navigation, gesture controls, facial recognition, and a dedicated 12.3-inch front passenger screen.
For in-car audio, a 12-speaker setup comes standard, with an optional 21-speaker 720° NETA bespoke surround sound system including headrest speakers. The cabin is also equipped with four USB/Type-C ports (two front, two rear), a wireless smartphone charger, and one-touch power windows for all four doors.
The Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) suite is split into two tiers: standard variants come equipped with NETA Pilot 2.5/3.0 (powered by dual Horizon Journey 3 chips, delivering 16 TOPS), offering Level 2 semi-autonomous capabilities (full-speed adaptive cruise control, lane centring assist, 540° transparent chassis display, etc.); the LiDAR version is powered by a Huawei MDC610 computing platform (200 TOPS), supporting highway and urban Navigation on Autopilot (NOA), automated parking assist, and more.
Passive safety features include six airbags (including side curtain airbags), tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), ESP, and traction control as standard. High-spec models further feature an in-cabin vital signs monitoring system.
Sales of the NETA S have been on a continuous downward spiral: after peaking at 2,589 units in October 2023, registrations dropped steadily, with retail sales between February and May 2025 logging just 11, 18, and 45 units, respectively. Primary factors behind this slump include: NETA Auto fell into bankruptcy restructuring turmoil in 2025, owing suppliers over RM6,000,000,000 in overdue payments, which halted production lines and left after-sales networks paralysed across multiple regions; entry-level EREV variants take 8.6 seconds to hit 100 km/h (6.9 seconds on the entry BEV), which is sluggish within the segment; and quality control issues are prominent (interior and body squeaks, panoramic roof rattles, and excessive wind noise at highway speeds).
On paper, the NETA S packs a genuinely competitive hardware package—a 3.9-second century sprint, front double-wishbone and rear five-link suspension, and an impressive 310 km electric range on the EREV are all standout highlights in its class. However, the marque's corporate crisis has left after-sales support severely compromised, which remains its fatal flaw. Purchasing a new unit is currently not recommended; prospective buyers still keen on the car should only consider export-market units or high-spec LiDAR variants, and only after ensuring local after-sales service and parts availability are fully operational.
