Model Overview

The Jetour Dashing is a C-segment SUV launched in September 2022 by Chery Holding Group’s Jetour brand. Serving as the maiden model underpinned by Jetour’s Kunlun architecture, the Dashing marks a key milestone in the brand's transition from its traditional "X" series nomenclature towards a younger, lifestyle-oriented identity. Positioned as a "mecha-styled intelligent SUV", it is aimed squarely at Gen Z and younger buyers. In terms of dimensions, the Dashing measures 4,590–4,600 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, and 1,685 mm in height, riding on a 2,720 mm wheelbase. Its class-leading 1,900 mm width provides a distinct cabin space advantage within the 5-seater SUV segment. At launch, the SUV was offered in both petrol (ICE) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) guises, with 1.6T petrol variants priced from RM99,900 to RM135,900, while the PHEV (i-DM) was priced between RM149,900 and RM169,900. The 2026 model lineup is powered exclusively by a 1.5T engine across three variants—Elite, Luxury, and Flagship—with official retail prices ranging from RM109,900 to RM127,900. Five new exterior colours have been introduced: Glacier White, Polar Night Black, Distant Mountain Grey, Star Mist Silver, and Pale Cloud Cyan. The Dark Knight Edition adds a full blacked-out exterior styling kit and red sports brake callipers for a more aggressive, athletic stance.

Design Language

The exterior styling of the Jetour Dashing blends the brand's signature "Hui-style architectural elegance" with a futuristic "pioneering mechanical aesthetic" mecha theme, resulting in an edgy, avant-garde look. Up front, it features a borderless parametric digital grille with a gradient dot-matrix motif, flanked by split LED headlamps with "flowing light wing" daytime running lights positioned along the bonnet shutline. The main LED projector units are integrated into the darkened bumper corners for a seamless visual effect. Along the flanks, a crisp two-section shoulder line and a sloping fastback roofline are paired with flush pop-out door handles to reduce aerodynamic drag. At the rear, slim smoked LED tail lamp clusters complement the quad exhaust tips, while an integrated roof spoiler incorporates a fighter-jet-inspired high-mounted stop light to deliver aerodynamic stability at higher speeds. Wheel options range from 18 to 20 inches depending on the trim level, with the Dark Knight Edition riding on 18-inch Night Knight gloss-black alloys paired with red brake callipers.

Inside, the cabin adopts a minimalist, symmetrical wrap-around layout dominated by clean horizontal lines and a strong high-tech ambience. The centre stack is fitted with either a 12.8-inch floating touchscreen or a massive 15.6-inch floating display depending on the variant, accompanied by an 8.0-inch or 9.2-inch full digital instrument cluster and a head-up display (HUD) to form a triple-screen interface. A flat-bottom twin-D two-spoke steering wheel is fitted, with higher-spec variants adopting a column-mounted electronic gear selector—a rare feature in this segment. The interior makes generous use of soft-touch slush-moulded surfaces and wood-grain trims, offering multiple colour themes including Starry Night Black, Sunrise Orange/Black, Grey/White, Black/Red, and a PHEV-exclusive Blue/White combo. Higher-spec models further benefit from 64-colour ambient lighting and one-piece aviation-style sports bucket seats.

Powertrain & Performance

The Jetour Dashing offers a versatile powertrain lineup. The petrol range initially featured 1.5T multi-point fuel-injected and 1.6TGDI direct-injected units. For the 2026 lineup, all variants are powered by a 1.5T four-cylinder turbo petrol engine in two states of tune: the standard-output version puts out 115 kW (156 PS) and 230 Nm of torque mated to a 6-speed wet dual-clutch transmission (6DCT), while the high-output version (Kunpeng 4th-gen 1.5TGDI) develops 135 kW (184 PS) and 290 Nm, paired with a 7-speed wet dual-clutch gearbox (7DCT) with a rated WLTC combined fuel consumption of 6.93 L/100 km. The earlier 1.6TGDI direct-injection engine, featuring Chery’s i-HEC intelligent high-efficiency combustion system, produced 145 kW (197 PS) and 290 Nm with class-leading thermal efficiency. A 6-speed manual variant paired with the 1.5T was also offered previously to lower the entry threshold.

The plug-in hybrid variant (Jetour Dashing i-DM) is powered by the Kunlun Intelligent Hybrid system, pairing a 1.5T engine with a 3-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (3DHT) in an industry-unique dual-motor setup. The petrol engine delivers 115 kW while the electric motor generates 125 kW, combining for a total system output of 240 kW and 545 Nm of torque. It is equipped with a 19.27 kWh ternary lithium battery pack (supplied by Gotion High-Tech), delivering an NEDC pure electric range of 100 km (80 km WLTC) and a total cruising range exceeding 1,100 km on a full tank and full charge. It supports 30-minute DC fast charging from 30% to 80% SoC, comes standard with a 3.3 kW Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) external power supply function, and returns a fuel consumption of 6.7 L/100 km in depleted battery state.

Chassis & Handling

Under the skin, the Jetour Dashing comes standard across the board with all-wheel independent suspension, featuring front MacPherson struts and a rear multi-link setup—giving it a solid mechanical edge over many similarly priced C-segment rivals that use a rear torsion beam. The multi-link rear suspension delivers superior bump absorption and cornering stability. The updated 2024 model further refined the chassis by incorporating 70 mm high-strength soft bushings across 24 connection points, boosting vibration damping by 40% to ensure rear-seat ride comfort without compromising agile handling. The suspension is tuned primarily for comfort; combined with a generous 208 mm ground clearance, it soaks up daily urban road imperfections effortlessly, though the front end exhibits mild body roll under spirited driving. The electric power steering (EPS) is light and effortless, offering ECO, NORMAL, SPORT, and dedicated "Combat" drive modes; in SPORT mode, throttle response and exhaust acoustics are heightened to deliver a more engaging drive for younger motorists.

Cockpit & Equipment

The Jetour Dashing runs on the α-OS smart cockpit operating system, equipped with dual AutoNavi and Tencent navigation maps as standard and supporting full-vehicle over-the-air (OTA) updates. Infotainment screens come in 12.8-inch or 15.6-inch sizes; the flagship variant features a 15.6-inch ultra-slim frameless floating display with a refreshed HMI interface for slick, intuitive operation. Deep Tencent ecosystem integration and wireless Huawei HiCar connectivity allow instant smartphone pairing upon entering the vehicle. The intelligent voice control system supports continuous dialogue and "see-and-say" capabilities for hands-free operation over navigation, audio, and air conditioning. On the comfort front, higher-grade 2026 models feature a 6-way power-adjustable driver's seat, heated and ventilated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, a 50W wireless smartphone charging pad, and Bluetooth digital key functionality. An 8-speaker Sony premium sound system with driver headrest speakers and built-in wireless karaoke is also included on top trims. Cabin practicality is highlighted by 35 dedicated storage compartments—including multiple shopping hooks, umbrella slots, and hidden dash hooks—alongside a spacious boot and split-folding rear seats for enhanced cargo versatility.

Safety & Driver Assistance

Safety-wise, the Dashing is built around a high-strength steel cage body where high-strength steel makes up 78% of the structure, incorporating hot-stamped integrated door rings. In terms of passive safety, mid-to-high variants are equipped with 6 airbags (dual front, front side, and full-length side curtain airbags), while the base variant gets dual front airbags. Active safety systems fitted as standard across the range include ABS with EBD, Traction Control (TCS), and Electronic Stability Programme (ESP). Top-tier variants add a 540-degree panoramic surround-view camera system (incorporating a 180-degree transparent underbody view) for effortless tight-spot parking.

For advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), the Dashing comes equipped with Level 2 semi-autonomous driving capabilities, upgraded to Level 2.5 on the 2026 top-spec variant. Driven by a suite of high-definition cameras and millimetre-wave radars, core functions include full-speed Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Lane Centring Control (LCC), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), and Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR). Higher-end grades also add Lane Change Assist (LCA) and Blind Spot Detection (BSD) for safer overtaking and highway cruising, alongside Driver Monitoring (DMS) and Occupant Monitoring (OMS) systems for enhanced in-cabin safety surveillance.

Market Performance & Review

During its initial launch, backed by its mecha styling, Kunlun modular platform, and comprehensive powertrain choices, the Jetour Dashing generated significant buzz, garnering over 33,000 pre-orders during its pre-sale phase in August 2022, including 5,800 confirmed booking deposits. However, as competition in the compact SUV segment intensified and Jetour shifted brand resources towards rugged 4x4 off-road models, sales numbers plateaued. Annual sales recorded approximately 15,400 units in 2022, climbed to around 41,200 units in 2023, held at roughly 40,500 units in 2024, and eased to around 27,000 units in 2025. Between January and March 2026, cumulative sales stood at 5,331 units, reflecting a steady niche position in the segment.

Owner feedback highlights several key strengths: its bold mecha design delivers high visual recognisability in its price bracket, appealing to style-conscious buyers; the 2,720 mm wheelbase and 1,900 mm width provide class-above rear legroom and shoulder room; the four-wheel independent suspension offers ride comfort superior to many segment rivals; and the lifetime warranty for first owners helps keep running costs low. Conversely, notable drawbacks include the modest performance of the entry-level 1.5T engine with average top-end overtaking punch, an infotainment UI that could be snappier compared to newer EV offerings, noticeable hard plastics in lower cabin areas, and slower product update cycles as the brand prioritises rugged models like the Jetour Traveller.

All in all, as the trailblazer of Jetour's Kunlun architecture, the Jetour Dashing has carved out a differentiated niche in the RM100,000-bracket compact SUV market with its aggressive mecha styling, four-wheel independent suspension, broad-shouldered stance, and generous tech suite. While it did not dominate the top of the sales charts, it served as a vital vehicle for Jetour’s youth-oriented brand pivot and provided valuable engineering data for future Kunlun-based models. Key segment rivals include Chinese domestic C-segment stalwarts such as the Haval H6, Changan CS75 PLUS, Geely Boyue L, and GAC Trumpchi GS4.
