Design & Dimensions: The vehicle measures 4,590 mm long, 1,900 mm wide, and 1,690 mm tall, with a 2,720 mm wheelbase. The exterior showcases a digital evolution of the ‘Huicheng Qiaochu’ design language, characterised by a borderless front grille and split headlamp clusters. Inside, the cabin is sleek and minimalist, featuring an expansive central touchscreen infotainment display and a head-up display (HUD) focused on intuitive user experience.

Key Highlight: Central to the SUV is its 3-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT) system, which seamlessly switches across various drive modes to deliver segment-leading performance while maintaining impressive fuel efficiency.

Development History

Debut and Launch (2022–2023): The Jetour Dashing series made its official debut in 2022, soon followed by the i-DM hybrid variant. This launch marked the brand's formal foray into electrification, taking on established ICE and hybrid rivals like the Haval H6 with an aggressive ‘EV performance at ICE pricing’ strategy.

Lineup Realignment (2024–2025): Following the rollout of Jetour’s dedicated NEV lineup, ‘Jetour Shanhai’, the Dashing i-DM was strategically repositioned to emphasise youthful appeal and affordability. In 2025, Jetour refreshed the Dashing range with the ‘Youth Edition’ and ‘New Dashing’ variants, refining trim specifications and making the entry price point even more accessible.

Current Status (2026): By 2026, the Dashing range boasts a mature model lineup comprising competitively priced petrol and PHEV variants. The Dashing i-DM benefits from ongoing software optimisations for enhanced energy management and serves as a cornerstone model in Jetour's global expansion across multiple overseas markets.

Market Performance

Competitive Landscape: In the competitive RM100,000 to RM150,000 compact SUV segment, the Jetour Dashing i-DM rivals established players such as the BYD Song Pro DM-i and Geely Boyue Hybrid. Jetour leverages its generous standard equipment list and ‘lifetime vehicle warranty’ as key selling points, building a strong following particularly in regional and emerging suburban markets.

Owner Feedback: Drivers have praised the SUV for its futuristic mecha styling, refined off-the-line acceleration, and generous suite of on-board technology. Regarding running costs, owners report that the EV range comfortably covers everyday city commutes, while fuel consumption remains notably lower than conventional petrol vehicles even when the battery is depleted.

Core Technologies

Kunlun Intelligent Hybrid Architecture: The powertrain pairs a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with a front dual-motor setup, producing a combined system output of 240 kW and 545 Nm of torque. It supports multiple operating modes—including pure electric, series hybrid, parallel hybrid, and engine direct-drive—ensuring punchy yet seamless power delivery.

Electric Range & Fast Charging: Equipped with a 19.27 kWh high-energy-density battery pack, the SUV delivers an electric range of 100 km (NEDC) and 80 km (WLTC). DC fast charging is standard across the range, allowing a 30% to 80% state of charge (SoC) in approximately 30 minutes for quick urban top-ups.

Chassis & Ride Dynamics: Featuring front MacPherson struts and a rear multi-link independent suspension setup, the chassis strikes a fine balance between engaging dynamics and daily ride comfort. A three-stage adjustable regenerative braking system further maximises energy recuperation.

Smart Cockpit: Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 processor on selected variants, the system supports an AI voice assistant, firmware over-the-air (FOTA) updates, facial recognition start, and an array of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), ensuring slick and responsive infotainment operation.

Future Plans

Heading into 2026, the strategic focus for the Jetour Dashing i-DM series encompasses:

Broader Market Reach & Value Enhancement: Continually lowering the barrier to entry through optimised equipment packaging for budget-conscious younger buyers, while reinforcing brand trust with its comprehensive lifetime warranty coverage.

Global Footprint Expansion: Adapting dedicated variants for international markets (including right-hand drive/RHD regions) to take the ‘Travel+’ lifestyle concept worldwide and elevate the brand’s global footprint.

Ongoing Powertrain Evolution: Further refining the powertrain thermal management algorithms on the Kunlun platform to maximise real-world range efficiency and overall powertrain reliability under extreme hot and cold climates.
