The GWM ORA 07 is a fully electric four-door coupe from Great Wall Motor’s EV sub-brand, ORA. Marketed as the "ORA Lightning Cat" in mainland China and unified under the "ORA 07" nameplate in global markets, it is the second global strategic model in the ORA lineup following the Good Cat (ORA 03).
First introduced in the Chinese market in 2022, the model subsequently expanded into overseas markets across Southeast Asia, Europe, and Oceania. In November 2023, it made its regional debut and went on sale at the 40th Thailand International Motor Expo, followed by its European market launch from 2024 onwards—marking a pivotal step in GWM's "ONE GWM" global brand strategy.
Positioned as a "new-energy super-streamlined coupe", the ORA 07 highlights a blend of retro aesthetics, athletic performance, and smart connectivity, putting it in direct competition with the BYD Seal and Tesla Model 3. It measures 4,871 mm long, 1,862 mm wide, and 1,500 mm tall, with a 2,870 mm wheelbase and an ultra-low drag coefficient of just 0.22 Cd, placing it squarely in the D-segment executive electric sedan category.
Pricing varies across regional markets: in Malaysia, the Long Range variant is priced at around RM170,000 (approx. RMB 260,000), while the Performance variant is priced at around RM180,000 (approx. RMB 280,000), presenting a compelling value-for-money proposition in its segment.
The exterior styling of the ORA 07 carries forward the brand’s signature retro-futuristic aesthetic, characterised by a "super-streamlined coupe" silhouette that blends Porsche-inspired elegance with modern EV tech appeal.
The front fascia shares styling cues with the Good Cat (ORA 03), sporting distinctive oval headlamp clusters and a low-slung nose, but with extended proportions that accentuate its four-door coupe stance. The roofline flows seamlessly past the B-pillars into an elegant fastback rear end. Exterior highlights include intelligent LED headlamps, frameless doors, flush pop-out door handles, a panoramic glass roof, and an active electric rear spoiler that not only aids aerodynamics but also automatically deploys upon unlocking the vehicle for added drama. A lower rear diffuser and red brake callipers (Performance variant) further sharpen its sporting credentials.
Inside, the cabin embraces a minimalist, light-luxury theme centered around a T-shaped cockpit layout. It features a three-spoke steering wheel, a triple-barrel digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch floating central infotainment touchscreen, and an inclined floating centre console trimmed in piano black with tactile physical buttons and rotary dials, giving it an upscale and layered look. Generously trimmed in soft-touch leather upholstery with a choice of black or brown themes, the interior delivers an elevated tactile and visual experience.
The ORA 07 is an all-electric offering available in two powertrain configurations: Long Range (single-motor FWD) and Performance (dual-motor AWD).
Long Range Variant: Powered by a front-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor delivering 150 kW (approx. 204 PS) and 340 Nm of torque in a front-wheel-drive setup, completing the 0-100 km/h sprint in 7.9 seconds with a top speed of 170 km/h.
Performance Variant: Powered by front and rear dual permanent magnet synchronous motors delivering a combined output of 300 kW (approx. 408 PS) and 680 Nm of torque via an electric all-wheel-drive system, dispatching 0-100 km/h in just 4.3 seconds on its way to a top speed of 180 km/h.
Both variants are equipped with an 83.5 kWh battery pack (lithium iron phosphate for the Long Range and ternary lithium for the Performance). In terms of driving range, the Long Range variant delivers up to 640 km on the NEDC cycle, while the Performance variant offers 550 km under NEDC testing. On the charging front, DC fast charging juices the battery from 30% to 80% in approximately 30 to 32 minutes, while 6.6 kW AC charging takes around 13 hours for a full charge. Both variants also support a 3.3 kW Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) external power output to run outdoor electrical appliances.
The ORA 07 rides on an all-independent suspension setup consisting of front MacPherson struts and a rear multi-link design, striking a well-judged balance between handling agility and ride suppleness. Stopping power comes courtesy of four-wheel ventilated disc brakes paired with an Electronic Parking Brake (EPB), ensuring reliable braking performance and safety.
In terms of drive modes, the Long Range variant offers five settings: Eco, Well-being, Normal, Sport, and Individual; the Performance variant adds a dedicated Sport+ mode for a total of six options, catering to everything from eco-conscious commutes to spirited driving. The Performance variant also includes three-stage steering weight adjustment (Light, Comfort, Sport), allowing drivers to tailor steering feedback to their preference. A single-pedal drive mode is also featured, enabling acceleration, deceleration, and regenerative braking via the accelerator pedal alone.
For wheels and tyres, the Long Range variant is fitted with 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 235/50 R18 tyres, while the Performance variant steps up to 19-inch alloys shod with 235/45 R19 Michelin Pilot Sport EV tyres and red brake callipers, providing extra road grip and a more aggressive visual stance.
The ORA 07 cabin is conceived around a "light-luxury living space" concept, pairing a wraparound cockpit with a floating T-shaped centre console and extensive leather upholstery to cultivate a plush, welcoming ambiance. Tech-wise, it features a dual-screen arrangement comprising a 10.25-inch full digital instrument display and a 12.3-inch floating infotainment touchscreen, supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Higher-spec models also benefit from a windscreen-projected W-HUD head-up display that keeps essential driving data directly in the driver’s line of sight.
Audio duties are handled by an 11-speaker Harman Infinity premium sound system for an immersive listening experience. Convenience features include a 50W wireless smartphone charging pad, ventilated and massaging front seats (Performance variant), dual-zone automatic climate control, and ambient interior lighting. The climate control system is equipped with an intelligent fragrance dispenser, UV sterilisation, automatic air sweeping, and fresh air filtration to keep cabin air clean and fresh. A hands-free powered tailgate adds everyday practicality when loading items into the boot.
The ORA 07 comes comprehensively equipped on both passive and active safety fronts. Passive safety includes six airbags as standard—dual front, front side, and full-length curtain airbags—backed by a high-strength cage body structure engineered to preserve passenger cell integrity in a collision.
Active safety is anchored by a standard Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), featuring core functionalities such as: Full-Speed Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Lane Centring Assist (LCA), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM), Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR), and Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB). The Performance variant further adds Auto Parking Assist and Auto Reversing Assist. A 360-degree surround-view camera system is standard across the range, making parking and tight-manoeuvre navigation hassle-free.
On the sensor front, the ORA 07 is equipped with 28 intelligent sensors—including visual cameras, ultrasonic sensors, and millimetre-wave radars—working in tandem with a 5G multi-satellite high-precision positioning system to enable Navigation on Highway (NOH) assist, supporting automated lane changing, overtaking, and ramp entry/exit on HD map-supported highways.
As a cornerstone global product for the brand, the ORA 07 has established a solid footing in overseas markets, particularly across Southeast Asia. In Malaysia, the Long Range variant is priced at RM169,800 and the Performance variant at RM189,800, giving it a distinct price advantage against rivals like the BYD Seal (Premium variant at RM179,800) and Tesla Model 3 (around RM181,000 to RM242,000). Peace of mind is supported by an attractive aftersales package: a 6-year/150,000 km vehicle warranty, an 8-year/180,000 km EV high-voltage battery and drive system warranty, a 12-year body anti-rust warranty, alongside a 1-to-1 battery replacement guarantee if the state of health (SOH) drops below 70%.
Local automotive media, including Malaysian portal paultan.org, have highlighted the ORA 07 for its strong value proposition, spacious interior comfort, and generous equipment levels compared to class rivals, though noting that high-speed wind noise suppression still leaves minor room for improvement. In terms of exterior appeal, the car has received widespread praise for its unisex charm, broadening the brand's reach beyond its earlier female-oriented reputation.
At the April 2025 Shanghai Auto Show, the ORA brand unveiled the ORA 07 Shooting Brake, retaining the distinctive front fascia while adopting an elongated estate-style rear profile to deliver class-leading boot capacity, along with roof-mounted LiDAR for higher-level intelligent driving features, further expanding the ORA 07 model family.
As of 2026, the ORA 07 is on sale across key global markets including Thailand, Malaysia, the UK, Australia, and South Africa, serving as a core pillar in GWM's global expansion strategy.
