BAIC BJEV is a new energy vehicle (NEV) manufacturer under Beijing Automotive Group Co., Ltd. (BAIC Group). Founded in 2009, the company is headquartered in the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area. As China's first independently operated NEV enterprise, the first to secure an NEV production licence, the pioneer in mixed-ownership reform, and one of the first state-owned enterprises to pilot employee share ownership schemes, BAIC BJEV holds a pivotal place in the history of China's NEV industry. In 2018, the company completed a major asset restructuring to list on the A-share market, becoming "China's first NEV stock" (Stock Code: 600733, Stock Name: BAIC BluePark). The carmaker specialises in the R&D, production, and sales of battery electric passenger vehicles (BEVs), operating the mid-to-high-end ARCFOX marque alongside STELATO, a luxury smart EV brand co-developed with Huawei. By 2025, BAIC BJEV had established a nationwide footprint spanning complete vehicle and core component R&D, manufacturing, sales, and aftersales, as well as comprehensive mobility services including car-sharing, EV charging and battery swapping operations, and used car trade-ins.

Development History
BAIC Group's green transition began in 2003 when its commercial vehicle arm, Foton Motor, first initiated NEV operations. On 14 November 2009, Beijing Electric Vehicle Co., Ltd. was officially incorporated, marking the start of BAIC Group's dedicated pure electric vehicle strategy. In March 2014, BAIC BJEV completed its mixed-ownership restructuring, followed by its official inauguration in the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area in April of the same year.
In 2016, BAIC BJEV unveiled its high-end eco-brand ARCFOX, officially embarking on an upmarket brand trajectory. The year 2017 marked a peak milestone for BAIC BJEV, with annual sales hitting 103,000 units—a 98% year-on-year surge—clinching China's pure electric sales crown for the fifth consecutive year. By year-end, it overtook Tesla to become the world's best-selling pure electric carmaker, while its EC series emerged as the world's top-selling single EV model with 78,000 deliveries. The marque subsequently retained its position as China's top-selling pure EV manufacturer for seven straight years, scaling an all-time high of 150,600 units in 2019.
However, underlying vulnerabilities soon surfaced. Heavy reliance on the fleet and commercial (B2B) market—which accounted for over 70% of volume during peak periods—paired with a low-cost, volume-driven strategy, diluted brand equity. The progressive reduction of government EV subsidies from 2019 proved to be a turning point, causing 2020 deliveries to plummet to 25,900 units, down nearly 83% year-on-year. Between 2018 and 2024, BAIC BluePark logged sustained massive net losses, with cumulative deficits topping RM30,000,000,000. In response to these headwinds, the company pivoted aggressively towards premiumisation: the ARCFOX Alpha T and Alpha S were rolled out in 2021, followed by the 2024 market launch of STELATO, co-developed with Huawei. Following senior management reshuffles and sharpened strategic focus, BAIC BJEV staged a strong sales rebound from 2H 2024 onwards, with full-year 2025 volume surpassing 200,000 units—up 84% year-on-year—firmly returning to the growth trajectory.
Brand Matrix / Product Lineup
BAIC BJEV currently adopts a dual-brand strategy anchored by "ARCFOX + STELATO", while streamlining BEIJING brand assets to gradually phase out entry-to-mid-tier models and focus squarely on the mid-to-high-end NEV segment.
ARCFOX is BAIC BJEV's mid-to-high-end intelligent electric marque, developed in deep technical partnership with Magna and Huawei. Its current line-up comprises: ARCFOX Alpha S, an executive all-electric sedan featuring Huawei's full-stack smart vehicle solution, whose L3 autonomous variant gained official MIIT product type-approval in December 2025; ARCFOX Alpha T, a mid-size pure electric SUV underpinned by the BE21 platform offering up to 653 km of driving range; ARCFOX Kaola, the world's first smart electric vehicle purpose-built for young families and maternal-infant travel scenarios; ARCFOX Alpha T5 Robotaxi, a production-ready Level 4 autonomous vehicle co-developed with Pony.ai; ARCFOX Wendao V9, a flagship luxury MPV that commenced pre-sales in April 2026 as an "all-domain comfort flagship MPV" with indicative pricing between RM219,900 and RM286,900; and ARCFOX S3, a spacious, class-above pure electric family sedan with subsidised pre-sale prices starting from RM64,800.
STELATO is a premium intelligent NEV brand co-created by BAIC BJEV and Huawei, positioned as a global luxury new energy marque. Its debut offering, the STELATO S9, arrived in 2024 as an executive flagship sedan, accompanied by the STELATO S9T fastback sedan; both models have dominated as the top-selling luxury NEV sedans priced above RM300,000 for six consecutive months. STELATO's product pipeline includes a full-size flagship SUV and a brand-new MPV slated for launch within the year, further expanding its high-end portfolio.
The BEIJING brand previously consolidated the model and engineering resources of BAIC BJEV and BAIC Motor, fielding all-electric models such as the EU5 and EU7. Since 2025, however, BAIC BJEV has halted the production and sales of the EU series to reallocate strategic resources towards ARCFOX and STELATO.
Market Performance
2025 was a pivotal turnaround year for BAIC BJEV. Total annual deliveries reached 209,576 units, reflecting an 84.06% year-on-year increase, with December monthly sales hitting 35,205 units (up 115% year-on-year) and marking three consecutive months of deliveries exceeding 30,000 units since October. By brand, ARCFOX recorded annual sales of over 160,000 units—up 101% year-on-year and doubling its volume for the second year running—with December deliveries exceeding 24,000 units, cementing its role as the backbone of BAIC BJEV's volume. Meanwhile, STELATO broke the 10,000-unit monthly delivery mark in December 2025, firmly leading the luxury NEV sedan segment priced at RM300,000 and above and securing a spot among the top 3 luxury sedans overall. For the full year of 2025, BAIC Group's total NEV deliveries exceeded 390,000 units, representing a 95% year-on-year jump.
Financially, BAIC BJEV's gross profit margin turned positive to 1.8% in Q3 2025, with revenue registering positive growth for three consecutive quarters. Nonetheless, alongside rapid volume expansion, profitability remains under pressure—the company posted a net loss of RM3,426,000,000 in the first three quarters of 2025, bringing its cumulative non-GAAP net loss to over RM36,400,000,000 since its reverse takeover listing in 2018. However, the introduction of high-margin models like the STELATO S9 has begun driving up average selling prices (ASP), with operational upsides steadily coming through. On the retail front, ARCFOX's dealer network has expanded to 680 outlets nationwide, while STELATO outlets now exceed 900.
