Roewe D6

2026-10-04 04:10:00

The Roewe D6 is an all-electric compact sedan under SAIC Roewe, officially launched at the Shanghai Auto Show in April 2025. As a new addition to Roewe's "D Family", the D6 is engineered to meet the core commuting needs of young families seeking "high quality, practicality, and value for money" through mainstream EV technology and an aggressive pricing strategy.

Model Overview

Boasting dimensions close to a B-segment vehicle and a refined design language, the Roewe D6 has carved out a solid foothold in the compact EV sedan segment.

Market tags: Pure electric family sedan, A+ segment dimensions, high value-for-money, CTB (Cell-to-Body) integrated battery technology.

Key highlights: The core appeal of this model lies in its class-above dimensions (2,750 mm wheelbase) and segment-leading energy efficiency. Its CTB battery-body integration technology not only enhances torsional rigidity, but also establishes a solid foundation for an optimised, spacious cabin.

Market positioning: Slotted into the RM90,000 to RM140,000 EV sedan segment (with a limited-time promotional starting price from just RM79,800 at launch), it directly takes on mainstream rivals such as the XPeng MONA M03 and GAC Aion AION RT, appealing to working-class families with its distinct price advantage and Shanghai-inspired styling.

Development History

Background: Following the success of models like the Roewe D7 DMH in bolstering the marque’s new energy reputation, the D6 was introduced to fill the brand's product gap in the RM100,000-class EV family sedan segment.

Key Milestones:

23 April 2025: The Roewe D6 officially debuted and went on sale at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show, swiftly gaining market traction courtesy of its highly competitive pricing.

25 April 2026: The updated Roewe D6 was launched at the Beijing Auto Show, featuring an optimised equipment list that further solidified its market share in the electric family sedan space.

Technical evolution: Since its debut, the D6 has continuously refined its energy management (achieving power consumption as low as 10.6 kWh/100 km) and electric drive control logic, ensuring strong range accuracy and running efficiency within its class.

Market Performance

Competitive landscape: The Roewe D6 operates in the fiercely contested A+ segment EV sedan market. Compared to rivals, its exterior styling carries a touch of metropolitan refinement, while applying serious market pressure through its accessible entry pricing.

Customer feedback: Owners widely praise its mature, commanding road presence and the seamless smart connectivity delivered by the 12.8-inch floating central touchscreen. Furthermore, the generous rear legroom and planted chassis setup are considered key advantages over competitors with a purely utilitarian e-hailing feel.

Core Technologies

Powertrain: Driven by a front-mounted single electric motor available in various outputs, the 2026 model sees its maximum power uprated to 120 kW with a peak torque of 250 Nm.

Battery and range: Available in two CLTC-rated range variants of 450 km and 520 km, packing 42.8 kWh and 53.95 kWh battery packs respectively. Equipped with an advanced thermal management system, fast charging from 30% to 80% takes only around 20 minutes.

Platform technology: Benefiting from class-leading CTB (Cell-to-Body) integrated battery technology, the architecture significantly lowers the vehicle's centre of gravity and improves body roll resistance at highway cruising speeds.

Cabin tech: The entire lineup comes standard with a 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment unit featuring a clean UI design and mainstream smartphone connectivity to cater to everyday family multimedia needs.

Future Plans

The strategic roadmap for the Roewe D6 includes:

Specification refinement: Continually fine-tuning equipment grades based on regional demand and owner feedback to enhance perceived value across all price brackets.

Charging ecosystem synergy: Leveraging SAIC Group's extensive resources to improve charging point compatibility and optimise cold-weather driving range under challenging conditions.

Market expansion: Deepening reach into tier-3 and tier-4 family car markets, utilising brand reputation to drive adoption across both private family buyers and commercial e-hailing fleets.
