Brand Overview
As one of China's renowned automotive manufacturers and developers, Roewe's portfolio spans across multiple segments including sedans, SUVs, and MPVs. In 2006, SAIC established the Roewe brand based on the complete intellectual property and technical platforms of the Rover 75, headquartered in Shanghai. Driven by its "China-led, Global Synergy" strategy, SAIC Motor built a global footprint comprising its China Headquarters Technical Centre, the UK Technical Centre, and the South Korea SsangYong R&D Centre. Its Roewe MARVEL X made history as China's first pure electric intelligent vehicle to clinch two major titles simultaneously among the prestigious "Global Four Grand Slams of Industrial Design"!
Emblem Meaning
Set within an inverted triangular shield, the emblem features two standing Eastern lions flanking a traditional Huabiao ceremonial column. The lion, hailed as the king of beasts, symbolises auspiciousness, majesty, and dignity in Chinese culture, while also representing royalty and courage in Western heritage. The Huabiao serves as an iconic cultural totem that embodies national prestige, visionary foresight, and blessings for peace, prosperity, and harmonious progress.
Emblem Evolution
When SAIC Motor established Roewe in 2006, the brand was built upon Rover's core engineering platforms, and it soon acquired Rover's heritage assets, lending visual similarities to the classic Rover insignia. The two standing Eastern lions symbolise China, while the Huabiao represents a quintessential Chinese totem that exudes national dignity and visionary ambition, expressing the brand's confidence and determination to build a Chinese marque into a new global classic.

After 14 years of use, a newly redesigned emblem made its official debut in April 2020. It features a deep, high-tech metallic background to signify the brand's entry into a new era driven by technological innovation. Elements such as the stylised letter 'R' were simplified for sharper brand recall. With 3D electroplated detailing and slanted 3D laser-etched textures, the emblem creates distinct reflections under varying lighting angles. The tapered proportion—broad at the top and narrow at the base—blends seamlessly with its classic shield silhouette.

The Brand and China
Roewe is a homegrown marque founded by SAIC Motor in 2006 on the back of the Rover 75's full intellectual property and engineering platforms, commencing commercial vehicle assembly at the newly built SAIC Lingang Plant in 2007. Riding the wave of new energy vehicle growth, Roewe set out to build a dedicated premium smart EV brand. In October 2021, SAIC incorporated Feifan Auto Technology Co., Ltd., officially spinning off its R brand to forge a fresh identity under the Rising Auto marque.
