Model Overview

The ORA Good Cat is the core volume driver of Great Wall Motor's (GWM) pure-electric marque, ORA. Positioned as a "premium A0-segment EV hatchback", it targets the urban commuter market with its distinctive retro-futuristic styling, targeted appeal towards female buyers, and compact footprint. Penned by former Porsche designer Emanuel Derta and underpinned by GWM's L.E.M.O.N. EV platform, the model made its debut at the Chengdu Motor Show in July 2020 before officially hitting the market on 24 November that same year.
As of May 2026, the latest iteration on sale is the 2025 model year line-up launched on 27 June 2025. It is offered in two model series: the standard ORA Good Cat and the sportier ORA Good Cat GT Mulan Edition, all featuring a single-motor front-wheel-drive (FWD) setup. The 2025 ORA Good Cat range is priced between RM83,800 and RM103,800, with a limited-time trade-in offer bringing prices down to RM79,800 to RM99,800. Meanwhile, the Good Cat GT Mulan Edition retails from RM96,800 to RM106,800, with promotional trade-in pricing ranging from RM92,800 to RM102,800.
Design Language
The Good Cat's "retro-futuristic" design serves as its defining visual signature. Shunning sharp, angular sheet metal for voluptuous, flowing curves inspired by 1960s space-age optimism, the hatch blends classic vintage cues with modern EV aesthetics. The signature circular LED "cat-eye" headlights are encircled by 40 LED modules—taking inspiration from fashion icon Karl Lagerfeld's beloved cat, Choupette—and deliver a beam throw of up to 104 metres. For the 2025 model year, the lower front bumper intake has been enlarged and extended towards the number plate holder, complemented by functional side air curtains to inject a sportier stance whilst retaining its rounded silhouette.
In terms of dimensions, the 2025 ORA Good Cat measures 4,242 mm long, 1,825 mm wide, and 1,632 mm tall, riding on a 2,650 mm wheelbase. 18-inch alloy wheels are standard across the range, with the Good Cat GT receiving gloss black sports rims paired with red brake calipers. At the rear, the most notable visual update is the replacement of the "ORA" lettering with GWM's corporate badging to reinforce brand identity. Colour-wise, the 2025 model introduces 6 vintage jewellery-inspired exterior shades, including Diancui Blue and Dazzling Green, alongside 3 interior themes inspired by traditional Chinese landscape art: Qingluobi (Cyan Green), Shiqingcui (Mineral Green), and Tanyunzhong (Sandalwood Brown).
Interior & Cabin Tech
The cabin has received significant overhauls for 2025. Ditching the previous dual-screen setup, the refreshed dashboard now features a brand-new two-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel, a steering column-mounted gear selector (stalk shifter), a 10.25-inch full digital instrument cluster, and a standalone 14.6-inch floating infotainment touchscreen. The interior is lavishly trimmed with soft-touch materials, leatherette upholstery, and satin chrome accents across the dashboard, door cards, and centre armrest, with selected areas enhanced by diamond-pattern quilting for an upscale, premium ambiance that punches above its price tag.
Powertrain & Performance
The entire 2025 ORA Good Cat line-up is driven by a front-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM), available in two states of tune: the entry-level 401km Classic variant produces 105 kW (143 PS) and 210 Nm of torque, while the mid-to-high-spec 430km variants put out 126 kW (171 PS) and 220 Nm. The Good Cat GT Mulan Edition shares the 126 kW motor, with peak torque bumped to 250 Nm on selected trims, enabling a 0-100 km/h sprint in just 6.9 seconds, aided by an ORA-Launch+ launch control system.
Energy is stored in a 45.9 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack across all variants, delivering a CLTC-rated range of either 401 km or 430 km. DC fast charging from 30% to 80% takes 30 minutes, whilst a full AC slow charge takes around 8 hours. A 3.3 kW Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) reverse charging feature is standard, allowing users to power electrical appliances during camping trips and outdoor getaways. Rated energy consumption sits between a modest 12.3 and 13.3 kWh per 100 km, keeping day-to-day running costs minimal.
Chassis & Handling
Underneath, the ORA Good Cat utilises a front MacPherson strut and rear torsion beam suspension setup—a standard arrangement for B-segment EVs designed to balance production costs with interior packaging efficiency. The ride is calibrated firmly towards passenger comfort, effectively soaking up road imperfections and harsh expansion joints to deliver a compliant and pliant ride quality.
Drivers can choose from Eco, Normal, and Sport driving modes, along with an Auto mode and a dedicated single-pedal drive function. Electric power steering assistance can be toggled between Light, Comfort, and Sport, with the Light setting offering an effortless helm ideal for tight urban navigation. The GT variant gains a dedicated sports suspension with stiffer springs and firmer damper valving, yielding sharper feedback, reduced body roll in corners, and improved high-speed stability alongside the floor-mounted battery's low centre of gravity.
Infotainment & Amenities
The updated cockpit is the centerpiece of the 2025 model year upgrade. Running on GWM's latest Coffee OS 3 platform, the 10.25-inch instrument panel and 14.6-inch infotainment display deliver sharp graphics and fluid response times. Powered by 16GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage, the system boots up in just 3 seconds. It features an integrated app store supporting over 40 apps, alongside full support for Apple CarPlay, HUAWEI HiCar, and mainstream Android smartphone mirroring. The voice assistant handles regional accents, offers full screen-context voice execution ("see and speak"), and can process complex multi-command prompts in a single breath.
The cabin also features 8 preset scene modes—Nap, Immersive, Temporary Leave, Pet, Camping, Brave the Wind and Waves, Sentry, and Car Wash—which automatically adjust the seats, climate control, power windows, and exterior lights at the touch of a button. High-spec variants add leatherette seats, a wireless smartphone charging pad, and automatic climate control. Cabin practicality is equally well-considered, with the floating centre console housing a 12V power socket, USB-C fast-charging ports, twin cupholders, and open storage trays.
Safety & Advanced Driver Assistance (ADAS)
Safety-wise, the Good Cat's body shell incorporates over 70% high-strength steel, accompanied by 6 airbags, fully meeting Euro NCAP 5-star crash safety benchmarks. The 45.9 kWh LFP battery pack is built to comply with China's stringent 2026 EV traction battery safety standards, engineered not to catch fire or explode under catastrophic testing conditions. In addition, the interior uses non-toxic, eco-friendly trim materials, earning a five-star rating from the China Automobile Health Index (C-AHI).
On the active safety front, the 2025 ORA Good Cat comes standard with the Level 2 ORA-Pilot ADAS suite across all variants: this includes full-speed Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) capable of Stop & Go between 0-150 km/h, Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Lane Centring Assist (LCA), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), and Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) with vehicle, pedestrian, and cyclist detection. Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR) and a 360-degree surround-view camera are included, with higher variants upgrading to a 540-degree panoramic view with a transparent underbody display.
The automated parking system has also seen substantial improvements. Boasting an 80-fold increase in processing power and utilising 19 sensors and cameras, the system can recognise more than 100 parking scenarios, completing perpendicular and diagonal auto-parking manoeuvres in as little as 30 seconds, while also offering smartphone-operated remote parking.
Market Performance & Verdict
Since its launch, the ORA Good Cat has ridden a full market cycle from runaway success to a temporary slump and subsequent rebound. Back in December 2021, monthly sales breached the 10,000-unit mark, making it the benchmark in China's compact EV space. However, mounting market competition saw volumes dip sharply through the first half of 2025, bottoming out at just 798 units in April.
The facelift's introduction in June 2025 proved to be a turning point: deliveries recovered to 2,319 units in June and surged to 3,153 units in July, signalling a sustained sales recovery. Market watchers attribute this turnaround to a substantial price cut (entry prices dropped by RM26,000, or roughly 24.6%) alongside the tech-laden interior refresh that resonated with younger buyers.
However, the competitive pricing comes with some equipment trade-offs: the previous 135 kW flagship powertrain and the 501 km extended-range battery option have been discontinued, capping the maximum range at 430 km. Minor convenience items like full-occupant seatbelt reminders and driver fatigue monitoring have also been omitted on certain trims. In this segment, the Good Cat continues to trade blows with formidable contenders like the BYD Dolphin, Volkswagen ID.3, and Geely Xingyuan—some of which leverage dedicated rear-wheel-drive (RWD) platforms that offer dynamic handling advantages.
Globally, the ORA Good Cat is currently marketed across 32 international markets, including China, the UK, Thailand, and Brazil. It earned a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating and was crowned "Best in Class Small Family Car" in 2022, before commencing local assembly (CKD) operations in Thailand in 2024. As of May 2026, the Good Cat remains the bedrock of the ORA brand; following management restructuring under brand general manager Zhao Yongpo, the model's long-term momentum will hinge on product lifecycle updates and retaining its keen value proposition.
