Model Overview

The Deepal S07 is a mid-size SUV from Deepal (the new energy vehicle brand under Changan Auto). Rebadged from the earlier Deepal S7, it serves as the core pillar of Deepal's SUV lineup. First introduced in 2023, the model has undergone several facelift updates. On 19 September 2025, the 2026 Deepal S07 was officially launched; subsequently, on 13 June 2026, the all-new Deepal S07 Huawei Qiankun Lidar Edition range-extended variant debuted at the Chongqing Auto Show. The Deepal S07 lineup is currently offered in two powertrain options: range-extended electric vehicle (EREV) and battery electric vehicle (BEV), sold across multiple variant trims. The 2026 model carries an official recommended retail price range of RM156,900 to RM173,900, with limited-time promotional pricing ranging from RM153,900 to RM170,900; the Huawei Qiankun Lidar Edition EREV is priced between RM159,900 and RM176,900, reduced to RM154,900 to RM171,900 under promotional offers. Positioned as a "tech-intelligent mid-size SUV", its key segment rivals include the BYD Song L DM-i and Leapmotor C11.

Design Language

The Deepal S07 features the brand’s signature design language. The 2026 model receives a series of exterior refinements, with the EREV and BEV variants adopting a dual front-fascia styling—the EREV leans towards a futuristic tech aesthetic, while the BEV emphasises a sportier look. The split headlamp layout has been revised with inverted positions for the main headlights and interactive light panels; the latter houses 696 LED light units that support animated functions such as pedestrian courtesy alerts, driving status graphics, and customisable lighting signatures. The front end is updated with "Star Wing" projector LED headlamps flanked by "Fang" daytime running light strips. A two-tone exterior finish is complemented by black-accented door handles, side skirt garnishes, and wing mirror caps. At the rear, the full-width LED taillight cluster is retained, paired with an updated rear spoiler and rear bumper diffuser for enhanced sportiness. New exterior paint choices include Cold Star White, Shining Black, Moon Rock Grey, Blazing Cloud Orange, and Galloping Light Yellow, with the latter two offered in dual-tone body schemes. The vehicle measures 4,750 mm in length, 1,930 mm in width, and 1,625 mm in height, with a 2,900 mm wheelbase.

Inside, the 2026 model introduces a new Twilight Purple interior upholstery theme, alongside Moon Mist Grey and Heat Wave Orange. The dashboard and door panels are wrapped in 100% suede-finish microfibre, matching the material standard found in the AITO M9. Soft-touch materials cover a total surface area of 10.7 m². The multi-function steering wheel adopts the scroll-roller layout shared with the Deepal S09, and the interior door releases have been upgraded to mechanical handles. Ambient lighting is provided via the Galaxy Rhythmic Ambient Lighting and Floating Light Speaker Ambient Lighting systems.

Powertrain and Performance

The Deepal S07 offers both range-extended and pure electric powertrains, with a rear-motor, rear-wheel-drive (RWD) layout standard across the entire lineup.

The Range-Extended (EREV) variant features the Deepal Super Range Extension 2.0 system, combining a 1.5L dedicated range-extender petrol engine with a rear-mounted electric drive motor. The range extender produces a maximum output of 72 kW (approx. 98 PS) with a 44.39% thermal efficiency and a 16.1:1 high compression ratio. The drive motor is available in two output tunes: 190 kW (approx. 258 PS) and 200 kW (approx. 272 PS). The system delivers a peak power output of 174 kW and a maximum wheel-end torque of 3,814 Nm, completing the 0-100 km/h sprint in as quick as 7.5 seconds. CLTC pure-electric range is rated at 230 km or 300 km depending on the battery option, while total CLTC combined range reaches up to 1,385 km. Depleted-battery fuel consumption under the WLTC cycle is rated as low as 3.8 L/100 km.

The Pure Electric (BEV) variant is equipped with the next-generation Force Super-Integrated Electric Drive 2.0, featuring a single rear motor delivering 200 kW (approx. 272 PS) and 320 Nm of torque, achieving a powertrain operating efficiency of 92.3%. The century sprint from 0-100 km/h is achieved in 7.4 seconds. Paired with a 77.94 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) Golden Bell Battery 2.0, it delivers a CLTC pure-electric range of 630 km.

For charging capabilities, the entire range comes standard with 3C ultra-fast DC charging, taking only 15 minutes to charge from 30% to 80% SoC. A 10-minute quick charge replenishes approximately 100 km of driving range.

Chassis and Handling

Underneath, the Deepal S07 rides on front MacPherson struts paired with an independent rear aluminium-alloy H-arm multi-link suspension. The rear aluminium H-arm setup delivers a weight reduction of approximately 30% compared to conventional steel control arms, significantly lowering unsprung mass. In addition, the front suspension is fitted with hydraulic bushings across all variants to enhance high-frequency vibration absorption.

Standard across the range is a variable adaptive suspension system incorporating Frequency Selective Damping (FSD) shock absorbers and Hydraulic Rebound Stops (HRS), delivering millisecond-level real-time damping adjustments. This setup is tuned to ensure reduced nose-dive under hard braking, minimal body roll in corners, smooth bump absorption over uneven tarmac, and composed damping over potholes. Cabin and Equipment

The digital cockpit of the Deepal S07 is centred around a 15.6-inch 2.5K ultra-HD swivel "Sunflower" screen that tilts automatically based on passenger interaction and driving conditions. Driving information is projected via a 55-inch AR-HUD (Augmented Reality Head-Up Display) onto the windscreen. Rear occupants get a 4.2-inch touchscreen control panel and dedicated tablet mounting ports. Computing power is handled by an automotive-grade Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P chip (4th-generation digital cockpit architecture), paired with 24GB RAM and 256GB onboard storage running on the Deepal OS 4.0 operating system. The system supports facial recognition and multimodal voice command control. The five-screen interactive ecosystem comprises the central display, AR-HUD, rear control panel, and dual expandable rear passenger screens.

Audiophiles are catered for with a 20-speaker Dolby Atmos premium sound system delivering a total output of 2,232 W.

In terms of convenience and seating comfort, the front row features dual Zero-Gravity seats capable of a 120° full recline, offering 16-way power adjustment for the driver and 14-way power adjustment for the front passenger. The seats incorporate an 8-mode, 3-intensity massage function, integrated with graphene heating and wellness therapeutic modes. Acoustic double-glazed glass is fitted throughout to improve cabin NVH insulation. The pure electric variant adds a 125-litre front luggage compartment (frunk), while rear boot volume expands up to 1,425 litres with the rear seats folded flat.

Safety and Intelligent Driving Assistance (ADAS)

Safety-wise, the Deepal S07 utilises a high-rigidity structural body cell. Passive safety equipment includes standard dual front airbags, front side airbags, and full-length front and rear curtain airbags. Energy storage is provided by the Golden Bell Battery 2.0, engineered to rigorous thermal protection benchmarks with an operational lifespan of up to 5,000 charge cycles. Its battery safety architecture was awarded the Second Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, while its micro-core high-frequency pulse heating system holds a China Patent Gold Award.

The Huawei Qiankun Lidar Edition (EREV) is equipped with the Huawei Qiankun ADS 4 Pro Enhanced Edition system, backed by 27 high-precision sensors: 1 cabin-mounted Limera Lidar-camera integrated sensor (a Huawei Qiankun industry-first), 3 4D millimetre-wave radars, 12 ultrasonic sensors, and 11 high-definition cameras, delivering a combined processing capability of 400 TOPS. The Limera module synchronises 3D point clouds with 2D vision feeds in real time, bypassing data-fusion latency for instant spatial recognition. The ADS SE Variant operates on the Huawei Qiankun ADS SE suite, driven by 5 HD cameras, 5 millimetre-wave radars, and 12 ultrasonic sensors. It provides Highway NCA Pilot (automated lane changing, hazard evasion, and ramp merging), Urban LCC Plus (Lane Centering Control Plus) with traffic light recognition and turn-signal lane change assist, along with automated parking support across over 160 scenarios. Additional security and parking features include Sentry Mode and a 540° panoramic camera system with transparent underfloor view.

Market Performance and Reception

The Deepal S07 represents the cornerstone model for the Deepal brand, with cumulative global sales exceeding 300,000 units. It previously achieved monthly deliveries surpassing 10,000 units for three consecutive months, consistently placing in the top five of China's mid-size NEV SUV sales charts. Following the launch of the facelift in September 2025, deliveries reached 8,761 units in October 2025, before seeing a brief consolidation. Sales rebounded in March 2026 with a 157% month-on-month surge, followed by 10,235 units in April 2026, marking a 98.6% year-on-year increase. Globally, the Deepal S07 is now marketed in over 70 countries and regions, with an owner base of over 250,000 drivers.

Owner and media feedback highlights the strengths of the Deepal S07 in making the Huawei Qiankun Smart Driving ADAS accessible in the RM150,000 price bracket, alongside the generous interior room enabled by its 2,900 mm wheelbase, the rapid turnaround of 3C fast charging, and the fluid UI responsiveness of the Snapdragon 8295P-powered cockpit. Areas for improvement include the Urban NCA feature being restricted to optional packages, the passive nature of the FSD suspension relative to active CDC electronic damper setups, and minor equipment omissions on entry-level grades.
