Sentry Mode is an advanced vehicle security surveillance feature found in modern intelligent connected vehicles. Unlike conventional cars that rely solely on passive vibration sensors or remain completely unmonitored once switched off and locked, Sentry Mode utilises the vehicle's surround-view cameras, ultrasonic sensors, and on-board central computer. This allows it to conduct 24/7 intelligent surveillance while parked, actively monitoring and recording suspicious activities and potential security threats in real time.

Core Working Principles and Technical Characteristics

At its core, Sentry Mode leverages machine vision and a comprehensive sensor array to establish an all-round dynamic virtual perimeter.

Once the vehicle is locked, the system enters a low-power standby state. If it detects pedestrians getting too close, slight vibrations, or unusual physical contact, it switches to an "Alert" state, flashing the headlamps or displaying a warning prompt on the infotainment screen to deter potential illicit acts. In the event of severe impacts, shattered windows, forced entry, or deliberate scratching, the system immediately escalates to "Alarm" status. It captures multi-angle, high-definition video footage before and after the incident while instantly pushing an emergency alert to the owner's smartphone.

Safety Regulations and Physical Limitations

The continuous high-definition video and audio recording of Sentry Mode captures images and footage of the surrounding public. Under the legal frameworks of specific high-security zones or certain countries and regions, unauthorised camera recording may constitute a privacy violation or breach local data compliance and national security laws.

Do not leave high-sensitivity Sentry Mode running unchecked during prolonged parking periods (such as extended business trips or holidays), as it constantly drains the vehicle's battery: 

Sentry Mode keeps the on-board computers, multiple cameras, and sensors in a partially active, high-power state. If the vehicle is parked for an extended period without being plugged into an EV charger, this feature will steadily deplete the high-voltage traction battery or the 12V auxiliary battery, which can lead to deep battery discharge and prevent the vehicle from starting.
