Model Overview

The Deepal E07 is an all-electric crossover SUV from Changan Automobile's Deepal brand, sold in China as the sister model to the Changan Qiyuan E07. Positioned as a "transformable multi-purpose EV", the E07 blends the profile of an SUV with the utility of a pick-up truck, sporting a novel crossover design concept that balances daily urban commuting with light cargo-hauling versatility. In terms of dimensions, the vehicle measures 5,045 mm long, 1,996 mm wide, and 1,680 mm tall, with a generous 3,120 mm wheelbase, placing it firmly in the mid-to-large all-electric SUV segment.

The E07 is offered in two powertrain variants: Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) and All-Wheel Drive (AWD). The RWD variant starts at AUD 64,900, while the Performance AWD variant is priced from AUD 73,900, with both versions sharing an identical list of standard equipment. The model made its international debut in overseas markets like Australia in the second half of 2025, before gradually expanding into Thailand, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East.

Design Language

The exterior styling of the Deepal E07 merges a sleek SUV fastback silhouette with the practical utility of a pick-up rear cargo bed. Up front, it features a closed-off grille flanked by signature C-shaped LED daytime running lights that wrap around slim headlight clusters, exuding a distinctly futuristic vibe. The side profile features rugged body lines, bold black wheel arch cladding, and flush pop-out door handles for a contemporary look. Beneath the rear windscreen, an electrically retractable glass cover can slide open to create an open rear cargo bed measuring roughly 1.5 metres in length, paired with a vertically split drop-down tailgate. With a rated cargo bed payload of approximately 300 kg, this versatile bed is one of the E07's standout features.

Inside, the cabin embraces a minimalist, tech-driven design, ditching the conventional instrument binnacle in favour of a standard Augmented Reality Head-Up Display (AR-HUD) projected onto the windscreen. Taking centre stage on the dashboard is a 15.4-inch rotatable high-definition touchscreen infotainment unit that houses virtually all in-car controls. The interior is generously upholstered in Nappa leather, complemented by 256-colour ambient lighting and an 18-speaker premium sound system, creating a cabin ambience that is both luxurious and futuristic.

Powertrain & Performance

The Deepal E07 is available in single-motor RWD and dual-motor AWD layouts, both powered by a shared 89.98 kWh ternary lithium (NMC) battery pack.

  • RWD Variant: Powered by a single rear-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor delivering 252 kW (approx. 342 PS) and 365 Nm of torque, completing the 0-100 km/h sprint in 6.7 seconds with a top speed of 201 km/h. It offers a rated driving range of 640 km on the NEDC cycle.

  • Performance AWD Variant: Driven by a dual-motor system (front induction asynchronous + rear permanent magnet synchronous) producing a combined system output of 440 kW (approx. 598 PS) and 645 Nm of torque. It dispatches the 0-100 km/h century sprint in just 3.96 seconds, with top speed rated at 210 km/h. Rated NEDC range is 590 km.

Across the lineup, the E07 supports up to 240 kW DC fast charging, taking just 15 minutes to juice up from 30% to 80% state of charge (SoC), and comes equipped with 6.6 kW Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) reverse power supply functionality. Under WLTP combined testing conditions, the 89.98 kWh ternary lithium battery pack on the RWD variant provides a tested real-world range of approximately 550 km.

Chassis & Handling

Under the skin, the Deepal E07 rides on front double-wishbone and rear multi-link independent suspension setups, providing the vehicle with superior handling stability and road grip. The Performance AWD variant comes standard with adaptive air suspension featuring Continuous Damping Control (CDC) with three ride-height adjustment settings, delivering a maximum ground clearance of up to 223 mm. The RWD variant also gets self-levelling air suspension as standard, enhancing rough-road clearance and ride quality. The vehicle has a fully laden minimum ground clearance of 183 mm and a wading depth of 600 mm, giving it light off-road capability. Chassis tuning is visibly biased towards ride comfort, efficiently soaking up road chatter, though lateral body roll is slightly noticeable during spirited cornering. In terms of footwear, the RWD variant rides on 20-inch wheels with 255/55 profile tyres, while the AWD variant steps up to 21-inch alloys with 265/45 performance tyres.

Cabin & Equipment

Digitalisation and premium comfort form the core philosophy of the Deepal E07's cabin, where the traditional meter cluster has been eliminated and replaced by the AR-HUD system. The dashboard features a 15.4-inch rotating HD touchscreen that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Plush Nappa leather seats feature heating, ventilation, and massage functions for both front and rear passengers. The audio experience is powered by an 18-speaker premium sound system with 2 external speakers, complemented by 256-colour ambient lighting, front and rear USB-A/C ports, a 50W wireless smartphone charging pad, and dual-zone automatic climate control. Additional cabin appointments include a panoramic glass roof with an electric sunblind, smart keyless entry with push-start button, and a 524-litre boot that expands up to 1,654 litres with the rear seats folded down.

Safety & Driver Assistance

On the active safety front, the Deepal E07 comes packed with a comprehensive ADAS suite, including Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB with pedestrian and cyclist detection), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Blind Spot Detection (BSD), Rear Cross Traffic Alert with auto braking (RCTA), Door Opening Warning (DOW), Safe Distance Warning, and Rollover Mitigation.

For Level 2 semi-autonomous driving capabilities, the entire range comes standard with Integrated Adaptive Cruise Control (IACC), Traffic Jam Assist (TJA), Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR), Lane Centring Control (LCC), and Lateral Departure Control. The E07 also features Automated Parking Assist (APA), a 540° panoramic camera system with integrated drive recorder functions, and Sentry Mode for continuous security monitoring when parked. The advanced intelligent driving system is powered by the NVIDIA Orin-X computing platform, with Highway Navigation Pilot and remote smart parking slated for deployment via over-the-air (OTA) updates.

In terms of passive safety, the E07 utilises a high-strength cage body architecture, equipped as standard with front dual airbags, front side airbags, and full-length side curtain airbags, alongside an optional front-centre airbag to bolster occupant protection during severe impacts.

Market Performance & Reception

Since its market launch in Australia in the second half of 2025, the Deepal E07 has generated considerable buzz in the mid-to-large all-electric segment, thanks to its distinctive SUV-pick-up crossover styling and extensive standard equipment list. Driven by Deepal's robust sales momentum, the model's overseas brand recognition has risen steadily: in April 2026, Deepal recorded global monthly deliveries of 33,187 units—a 64.8% year-on-year increase—surpassing the 30,000-unit milestone for two consecutive months and firmly cementing its spot among the top three new EV start-up brands.

In terms of media reception, Australian automotive outlet CarsGuide awarded the E07 an overall rating of 7.5/10, praising its cabin practicality, powertrain punch, and generous kit, while pointing out its soft suspension, lack of physical switchgear, and overly intrusive safety chimes as its main shortcomings. In local road tests, The Driven also recorded an average real-world energy consumption of approximately 19 kWh/100 km for the RWD variant and around 22 kWh/100 km for the AWD variant, indicating respectable overall efficiency.

Overall, with its unique crossover body style and well-rounded product strengths, the Deepal E07 faces virtually no direct rivals in the current market, making it a pivotal strategic model in Changan Automobile's overseas electrification push. As a flagship showcase of Changan's twin-pillar strategy—leveraging Deepal's Super Range Extender technology alongside Huawei's Qiankun Intelligent Driving ecosystem—the E07 also represents a vital step for the Deepal brand in establishing its global footprint and pioneering a new breed of smart electric crossovers.
