Model Overview

The DFSK Landian E5 is a D-segment plug-in hybrid SUV by DFSK, marketed domestically under the Dongfeng Fengon brand. Serving as a strategic model in Dongfeng Group's electrification roadmap, the Landian E5 officially debuted in March 2023. At launch, it was offered in two variants, Changxiang and Flagship, with indicative pre-sale prices of RM139,900 and RM151,900 respectively. In 2024, the Landian E5 made its debut in overseas markets, including Mexico, badged as the DFSK E5. In terms of dimensions, the SUV measures 4,760 mm in length, 1,865 mm in width, and 1,710 mm in height, with a 2,785 mm wheelbase. Aimed at the family SUV segment, it comes with a choice of 5-seater or 2+3+2 7-seater configurations, going up against key plug-in hybrid rivals such as the BYD Song Pro DM-i and Haval Xiaolong. As of May 2026, the model remains on sale in both domestic and international markets.
Design Language
The Landian E5 adopts a fresh design language that blends athletic styling with modern tech cues. Up front, it features a dot-matrix grille with darkened internal accents, flanked by sharp headlamp clusters seamlessly integrated into the front fascia. Positioned above the grille is a distinctive nine-dot array forming an "E" emblem that elevates its front-end presence. Down the flanks, crisp character lines with a multi-stage waistline impart a forward-leaning stance, complemented by gloss-black window surrounds and a choice of 18- or 19-inch alloy wheels (wrapped in 225/55 R18 or 235/50 R19 tyres) for a sportier profile. Round back, full-width LED taillights, a hidden exhaust setup, and a clamshell-style tailgate deliver a clean, uncluttered aesthetic.
Inside, the cabin features a wraparound layout upholstered in two-tone black and brown leather, accented by generous chrome trim for added texture and a more upmarket ambience. Highlights include a two-spoke multi-function steering wheel, a dual-screen continuous display setup, and a floating centre console. The ergonomic front seats recline up to 165° to form a flat resting space with the second row; both the second and third rows can also be folded completely flat to maximise practicality for various lifestyles.
Powertrain and Performance
Powering the Landian E5 is a plug-in hybrid electric (PHEV) system pairing a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with a front-mounted single electric motor. The transversely mounted four-cylinder unit generates 81 kW (110 PS) and 135 Nm of torque. The front permanent magnet synchronous motor puts out 130 kW (approx. 177 PS) and 300 Nm (221 lb-ft / approx. 299 Nm). Thanks to high overall powertrain efficiency, the SUV does the 0-50 km/h sprint in 2.9 seconds, before completing the 0-100 km/h run in around 7.4 seconds.
Energy is stored in a ternary lithium battery pack with a capacity of either 17.52 kWh or 19.4 kWh depending on the variant, delivering a WLTC-rated pure electric range of 87 km or 94 km (100 km under NEDC testing). An AC slow charge takes roughly 4 hours, while selected higher-spec variants support DC fast charging. Combined fuel consumption under WLTC is rated between 1.23 L/100 km and 1.35 L/100 km, returning 5.5 L/100 km in battery-depleted state. Total combined cruising range with a full tank and full charge reaches up to 1,150 km. Top speed is capped at 165 km/h, and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) reverse charging functionality comes as standard across the range.
Chassis and Handling
Underneath, the Landian E5 rides on a monocoque chassis supported by all-round independent suspension, comprising front MacPherson struts and a rear multi-link setup. It uses a front-engine, front-wheel-drive layout and features Electric Power Steering (EPS) alongside an Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) with Auto Hold. Braking is handled by ventilated front discs and solid rear discs, fitted with 225/55 R18 or 235/50 R19 tyres depending on the trim. The suspension does a commendable job of soaking up road imperfections, which, coupled with a body shell featuring 48% high-strength steel, ensures a composed and balanced ride quality in its class.
Cabin and Features
The Landian E5’s intelligent cockpit is powered by the Huawei HiCar 3.0 ecosystem, offering seamless smartphone connectivity, continuous navigation casting, and in-car video calling. The digital cockpit incorporates a 12.3-inch central touchscreen infotainment display (on selected variants) and a fully digital instrument cluster arranged in a dual-screen layout. Standard equipment across all variants includes a leather-wrapped steering wheel, leather upholstery, mobile remote telematics, and a powered sunroof. Higher-spec variants add a 12-speaker high-fidelity audio system and an intelligent cabin air purification system equipped with a PM2.5 sensor and negative ion generator. Boot capacity ranges from 400 litres up to 2,000 litres with the split-folding rear seats laid flat for enhanced cargo flexibility.
Safety and Driver Assistance
On the safety front, the Landian E5 comes equipped as standard with front dual airbags, ABS with EBD, Brake Assist (BA), Traction Control System (TCS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). Higher-spec grades gain front side airbags, front and rear curtain airbags, Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), and Driver Fatigue Alert. Blind Spot Detection / Lane Change Assist, Cruise Control, Door Opening Warning (DOW), and Rear Collision Warning (RCW) are fitted as standard across the line-up. Its high-rigidity cage body structure complies with Chinese domestic and European export safety regulations, earning solid safety credentials in overseas markets.
Market Performance and Reception
As DFSK's core contender in the plug-in hybrid SUV space, the Landian E5 offered strong value-for-money by leveraging BYD’s FinDreams Powertrain system and Huawei HiCar integration, hitting the market with an aggressive entry price of just RM99,800. In 2025, full-year sales reached approximately 17,400 units; by February 2026, it recorded 1,318 registrations in a single month, leading sales within the DFSK stable. Its overall market trajectory saw a strong initial surge before plateauing: early competitive pricing and brand collaborations helped secure market share, but sales normalised over time amid a growing influx of segment rivals, faster tech refresh cycles, and stiff competition from mainstream PHEVs by the likes of BYD and GWM.
Customer feedback highlights the Landian E5’s key strengths: strong value proposition (a mid-size PHEV SUV around the RM100k mark), proven powertrain reliability backed by BYD technology, a seamless infotainment user experience with Huawei HiCar 3.0, and practical 5- or 7-seater packaging. On the flip side, criticisms centre on its modest WLTC pure electric range of 87 km, relatively basic standard trim on base models, and lower brand equity compared to tier-one Chinese marques like BYD and GWM. All in all, the Landian E5 represents a well-integrated package leveraging established supply chains from BYD FinDreams and Huawei, engineered to capture mainstream PHEV buyers with accessible pricing. As of May 2026, the model continues to be marketed across China as well as export destinations including Mexico and Europe.
