iCAUR, Chery's new energy vehicle brand, has brought two distinctly different SUVs to Hong Kong. The iCAUR V23 is a compact all-electric model, while the larger V27 uses a range-extender powertrain, combining electric drive with a petrol engine that generates electricity.

Prices start at HK$228,400 for the V23 and HK$330,000 for the V27, putting them in different price brackets. The choice is not just about size, either: the V23 runs entirely on electricity, whereas the V27 is designed to offer electric driving without relying solely on charging points for longer journeys.
So, beyond their shared boxy styling, what separates the two models?

Note: The V23 figures are for the rear-wheel-drive Standard and all-wheel-drive Sport versions. V27 battery capacity and electric range figures are for the AWD version.
The iCAUR V23 measures 4,220mm in length with a 2,735mm wheelbase in a 5-seater layout. Its relatively compact footprint makes driving and parking in tight Hong Kong urban streets exceptionally nimble.
The boxy silhouette balances distinctive character with practicality, making it well-suited for daily commuting and weekend getaways.
The iCAUR V27 boasts larger dimensions with a length of 4,899mm and a 2,900mm wheelbase. Complemented by squared-off profile lines, it easily accommodates family trips and outdoor camping gear. The tailgate-mounted spare wheel and side-hinged tailgate further accentuate its rugged SUV credentials.
In short, the V23 caters to drivers who prioritise urban agility, while the V27 appeals to buyers seeking generous space and family touring versatility.
The V23 comes in a 360km RWD Standard Edition and a 430km 4WD Sport Edition (both NEDC-rated).
The Standard Edition delivers around 136PS and 180Nm of peak torque with a 59.93kWh LFP battery pack; the 4WD Sport Edition puts out approx. 211PS and 292Nm of peak torque, powered by an 81.76kWh ternary lithium battery pack.
For DC fast charging, the Standard Edition takes around 36 minutes from 20% to 80%, while the 4WD Sport Edition requires roughly 42 minutes.
Both variants support V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) power discharge, making them ideal for owners with dedicated charging setups who primarily commute daily.
The V27 utilises a 1.5T range-extended electric setup where electric motors drive the wheels directly, with the petrol engine serving primarily as an on-board generator.
The Hong Kong market offers RWD and 4WD variants priced at HK$330,000 and HK$360,000 respectively. The 4WD model features a front and rear dual-motor configuration, striking a balance between potent performance and long-distance driving ease.
The range-extended system enables drivers to run purely on electric power for daily travel, while refuelling with petrol on long road trips. This significantly reduces charging anxiety and makes it an excellent match for families who frequently embark on road trips or outdoor adventures.
The V23 features a boxy profile, with the 4WD Sport Edition boasting a dual-motor 4WD system capable of tackling standard roads and light unpaved terrain. Coupled with its bold, rugged styling, it suits drivers who desire a distinctive look while balancing everyday commuting with weekend leisure.

The V27 also carries over the rugged boxy design. Backed by a larger footprint and an available 4WD setup, it is tailored for long-distance cruising, camping, and versatile travel scenarios.
Real-world off-road capability depends on tyre choice, ground clearance, and terrain conditions, which buyers should weigh against their actual driving needs.

The V23 comes with a 15.4-inch central touchscreen, Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip, and a 540-degree camera system, ensuring effortless daily infotainment operation, parking, and all-round visibility. The 4WD Sport Edition upgrades to 21-inch alloy wheels, delivering a more aggressive, sporty presence.

The V27, on the other hand, highlights its larger cabin space, range-extended powertrain, and 4WD capability as primary selling points, tailored for owners prioritising family road trips and outdoor lifestyles.
Prospective buyers can compare cabin appointments, ADAS driver assists, and comfort features across trim levels.

The V23 and V27 share the same boxy SUV styling, but cater to different priorities.
The iCAUR V23 is the more affordable choice, with Hong Kong prices ranging from around HK$228,000 to HK$278,000. Its smaller dimensions and all-electric powertrain make it a good fit for drivers who mainly travel around town, have access to regular charging and want an SUV with a distinctive design.
The choice between the 360 km and 430 km NEDC versions comes down to budget, range requirements and whether all-wheel drive is needed.
The iCAUR V27 costs more, at HK$330,000–360,000, but offers a larger body and a range-extender powertrain. It is worth considering for families who need more room or regularly take longer road trips and outdoor excursions.
The petrol-powered range extender provides an alternative to relying solely on charging infrastructure for longer journeys.
One more model to keep an eye on is the iCAUR V25, the third model in the family, which has been unveiled in China's Mainland. Positioned between the V23 and V27, it could broaden the choice for buyers if it eventually reaches Hong Kong. There is currently no official confirmation of a Hong Kong launch.
