Ford Q3 2026 results: Revenue falls 2% to US$49.5 billion, but adjusted profit rises 3%

Ford has reported a 2% drop in revenue for the third quarter of 2026, but stronger sales of higher-margin vehicles and tighter cost controls helped lift its adjusted operating profit.

The American carmaker generated US$49.5 billion in revenue, down from US$50.5 billion a year earlier. Adjusted earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT), however, rose 3% to US$2.7 billion, prompting Ford to raise its full-year profit forecast once again.

Revenue and net profit decline

Ford's third-quarter net profit fell to US$2 billion, compared with US$2.4 billion in the same period last year.

Despite the decline in revenue and net profit, adjusted EBIT reached US$2.7 billion, up 3% year-on-year. Adjusted free cash flow for the quarter stood at US$4.7 billion.

Ford attributed the improvement in adjusted earnings to a more profitable vehicle sales mix and ongoing cost-saving measures.

The company is also continuing to expand revenue streams beyond vehicle sales, including software, services and replacement parts.

Ford raises full-year profit forecast

Following its third-quarter performance, Ford has raised its adjusted EBIT guidance for 2026 to between US$10.5 billion and US$11 billion.

The lower end of the forecast has increased from US$10 billion to US$10.5 billion, reflecting the company's stronger expectations for the full year.

Ford also expects adjusted free cash flow of US$6 billion to US$7 billion, while its capital expenditure forecast remains unchanged at US$9.5 billion to US$10.5 billion.

EV business continues to lose money

Ford's electric vehicle division, Model e, remains under financial pressure.

The business recorded an EBIT loss of approximately US$1.1 billion in the third quarter, although this was around 25% smaller than the loss reported a year earlier.

The smaller loss suggests some improvement in the division's financial performance, but Ford's EV operations are still facing significant costs as the company continues investing in electrification.

Overall, Ford's latest results present a mixed picture. Revenue and net profit were lower than a year ago, but adjusted operating earnings improved, supported by its vehicle sales mix and cost controls.

With its full-year profit forecast raised again, Ford is looking to build on those improvements while working to reduce losses in its electric vehicle business.
