[Car Insight Industry] Let's take stock of the major events that happened in the auto industry on July 31, 2026.
Auto Event One: Dongfeng Self-Developed kV Electric Drive and MW Super Charging Pile Prototype Comes Off Line
Recently, Dongfeng Motor held a ceremony for the prototype production completion of dual products: kV electric drive and MW super charging pile. Both core products are fully self-developed, marking that Dongfeng has officially established a complete technical closed loop of vehicle-end kV high-voltage drive and pile-end megawatt-level high-power energy replenishment.
The kV electric drive product iD5-300SN is Dongfeng's first kV electric drive. It is equipped with a 1500V withstand voltage silicon carbide power module, with voltage coverage from 450V to 1000V, downward compatible with mainstream 800V platforms, and upward expandable to 1200V. Not only is it sufficient for current models, but it also leaves room for future technology upgrades.
Auto Event Two: Wuling Commuter Car Sales Will Exceed 3 Million Units
On July 31, SAIC-GM-Wuling announced that Wuling Commuter Car users will exceed 3 million, and a "Colorful Life, Unleash Fun" Hongguang MINIEV 6th Anniversary and Wuling Commuter Car 3 Million User Celebration will be held on August 7.
Since 2017, SAIC-GM-Wuling has continued to deep dive into the commuter car market by launching models such as Baojun E100, E200, Hongguang MINIEV, Bingguo Family, etc. Wuling Commuter Car sales will exceed 3 million units. Among them, the Hongguang MINIEV Family has cumulatively gained the favor of over 1.95 million users with its product strengths of "Good looking, Easy to drive, Easy to park, Fuel-efficient". The Bingguo Family also gained the trust of over 750,000 car owners with its high-aesthetic colorful design, bringing users a colorful travel experience.
Auto Event Three: Domestic Oil Prices Will Be Adjusted Starting From 24:00 on July 31
We learned from the National Development and Reform Commission that since the adjustment of domestic refined oil prices on July 17, international market crude oil prices have fluctuated violently, rising significantly continuously in the past few days then falling back, and surged again recently. The average price of the previous 10 working days before this price adjustment is higher than the average price of the previous 10 working days before the last price adjustment. According to the changes in international market oil prices, starting from 24:00 on July 31, domestic gasoline and diesel (standard products) prices will be increased by 685 yuan and 655 yuan per ton respectively.
Auto Event Four: Leapmotor Officially Launched in the Indonesian Market
In July 2026, Leapmotor debuted its two global models, Leapmotor B10 and C10, at the 2026 Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS 2026), and officially announced its entry into the Indonesian market. On the same day, Leapmotor and the Indonesian Indomobil Group jointly announced the official launch of localized KD assembly production in Indonesia.
The two global strategic models exhibited at the 2026 Indonesia International Auto Show this time — Leapmotor B10 and C10 — both reflect Leapmotor's core advantage of "Full Domain Self-Research" — Leapmotor independently develops over 65% of the vehicle's core parts by cost, including electric drive, battery system, smart cockpit, and electrical/electronic architecture. This high degree of vertical integration capability enables Leapmotor to continuously optimize costs from design to production, and rapidly promote technological innovation.
