Leapmotor B10

2026-10-04 03:10:00

The Leapmotor B10 is the inaugural global compact all-electric SUV under Leapmotor's "B Series", officially launched in China on 10 April 2025. Representing a key milestone in Leapmotor's deepening "full-domain in-house R&D" strategy, the B10 aims to bring premium equipment such as LiDAR and advanced autonomous driving chipsets to the mainstream mass market at highly competitive price points, serving as Leapmotor's strategic contender in the RM100,000 to RM150,000 EV SUV segment.

Vehicle Overview

Underpinned by Leapmotor's LEAP 3.5 architecture, the B10 maximises cabin space efficiency whilst retaining the nimble handling typical of a compact SUV.

Market Tags: Compact EV SUV, global model, high-value smart driving, LEAP 3.5 platform.

Key Highlights: The model's primary selling point is its "segment-busting" equipment list. It is among the rare offerings in its price bracket to feature a LiDAR setup, mated to a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8650 smart driving platform and an 8295 digital cockpit chip, giving it a commanding first-mover edge in terms of intelligent tech.

Market Positioning: Slotted within the RM99,800 to RM129,800 price bracket, it goes head-to-head with rival EV SUVs in the same segment, targeted at young families and daily commuters seeking a pragmatic, tech-forward, and high-quality driving experience.

Development History

Background: Leapmotor has expanded its product portfolio with the B10, leveraging a global design language and a mature supply chain ecosystem to meet domestic market demand whilst quickening its global brand expansion.

Key Milestones:

October 2024: Made its global premiere at the Paris Motor Show.

10 April 2025: Officially launched in China, offered in two range variants of 510 km and 600 km.

Within 2025: Rolling out across multiple global markets, including Europe, Southeast Asia, and Australia, swiftly establishing international sales and production networks via its partnership with Stellantis Group.

Tech Evolution: As the pioneer model on the LEAP 3.5 platform, the B10 continuously refines its Navigation Assist Pilot (NAP) for highway cruising and urban automated parking features via over-the-air (OTA) updates, keeping its smart driving capabilities thoroughly competitive.

Market Performance

Competitive Landscape: The B10 enters the compact SUV fray with an aim to "democratise luxury tech". While most rivals in this price segment focus primarily on basic daily commuting duties, the B10 sets a differentiated benchmark with its core ADAS hardware, notably the inclusion of LiDAR.

Customer Reception: Owners have widely praised its generous rear legroom (2,735 mm wheelbase, with an 87.4% cabin space utilisation rate) and ride quality. Co-developed by Sino-European engineering teams, the chassis setup ranks among the best in its class for soaking up road imperfections and controlling body roll during high-speed cornering.

Core Technologies

Powertrain Architecture: Features a rear-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor driving the rear wheels (RWD) as standard across the range. Available in two output tunes paired with either a 56.2 kWh or 67.1 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack, delivering a maximum driving range of up to 600 km.

Smart Driving & Digital Cockpit: Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P cockpit chipset and Snapdragon 8650 ADAS chipset, complemented by a 128-beam LiDAR sensor. It supports highway Navigation Assist Pilot (NAP) and Automated Parking Assist (APA), with the architectural headroom for continuous high-level ADAS upgrades.

Manufacturing & Chassis: Built with Cell-to-Chassis (CTC 2.0) integrated battery technology, achieving a torsional rigidity of 36,300 Nm/deg. It rides on a front MacPherson strut and rear multi-link suspension setup, tuned extensively for a fine balance between dynamic handling and ride comfort.

Future Plans

Strategic priorities for the B10 encompass:

ADAS Capability Enhancements: Plans to further improve the recognition accuracy of the Urban Navigation Assist Pilot system in complex driving scenarios within the year, refining traffic decision-making in tricky situations such as unprotected turns.

Globalised Production: Tapping into Stellantis Group's global manufacturing footprint to accelerate local assembly (CKD) operations in Europe (such as the Spain plant) and Southeast Asia, mitigating tariff impacts and meeting local homologation requirements.

Ecosystem & Compliance Expansion: Ongoing software localisation and safety calibration tailored to international regulatory standards, ensuring the B10 achieves and maintains a five-star Euro NCAP or equivalent safety rating across global markets.
