JMEV Yizhi EV3

2026-09-29 11:10:00

The Yizhi EV3 is an all-electric microcar under JMEV. An all-new generation model was officially launched in May 2026, highlighting a "fully loaded Level 2 ADAS suite" and over 100 upgrades as its key selling points, aimed squarely at the RM60,000-class daily commuter segment.

Model Overview

Positioned as an A00-segment pure electric hatchback, the entire 2025–2026 lineup delivers a CLTC-rated range of 330 km, with electric motor output bumped up to 50 kW (68 PS). Two variants are on offer: the 330km Comfort (RM62,800) and the 330km Luxury (RM66,800). Key rivals include the Leapmotor T03, Wuling Bingo, as well as the "segment-busting" Chery QQ3 EV (priced from RM58,900).

Design Language

Measuring 3,720 mm long, 1,640 mm wide, and 1,535 mm tall with a 2,390 mm wheelbase, the EV3 features a 5-door, 4-seater layout. The 2026 model adopts a "minimalist front fascia" paired with dynamic swooping waistlines, offering four nature-inspired body colours including Light Cloud Beige and Twilight Blue. Inside, the cabin receives an upgraded "Skyline Wrap-around" cockpit sporting a blue-and-white dual-tone palette and cloud-feel comfort seats. A 5.0-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay support come standard across the range. Folding the rear seats expands boot capacity up to 1,000 litres, complemented by 21 storage compartments throughout the cabin and an impressive 86.59% space utilisation rate.

Powertrain and Chassis

The entire range is powered by a 50 kW liquid-cooled permanent magnet synchronous motor churning out 125 Nm of peak torque, capable of a 0–50 km/h sprint in 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 102 km/h. Energy is supplied by a 30.24 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack using Gotion High-Tech cells, offering a 330 km CLTC range. DC fast charging takes 0.58 hours (30%–80%), while AC regular charging requires 9.5 hours. Underneath, it rides on a front MacPherson strut and rear torsion beam suspension setup, with drum brakes at the rear.

Equipment and Safety

Level 2 driver assistance systems (ADAS) are a rarity in this segment, bundling Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), and Blind Spot Detection (BSD). A third-generation WCBS brake-by-wire system (a segment exclusive) comes standard across all variants, delivering a 100–0 km/h stopping distance of just 39 metres alongside a rapid 150-millisecond response time. Passive safety is reinforced by a high-strength cage body and a 1,500 MPa hot-stamped steel front impact beam, while the higher-spec variant gains a 540-degree panoramic camera system (complete with transparent chassis view). Reverse AEB collision mitigation and reverse pedal misapplication prevention are standard across the board.

Notably, there is a clear equipment divide between grades: the base variant makes do with two speakers, fabric upholstery, and steel wheels, whereas the higher trim adds a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a 360-degree camera system, and alloy wheels. Furthermore, while all models feature front ventilated discs and rear drums, the lower spec uses a mechanical handbrake compared to the electronic parking brake (EPB) on the high-spec variant.

Market Performance

JMEV's export volume has charted positive growth for three straight years, surging 203% year-on-year in 2025 across more than 40 global markets. In June 2025, monthly sales of the Yizhi EV3 stood at 681 units, representing 25.96% of the brand's total volume.

However, a customer complaint regarding an air-conditioning failure just a day before launch (25 May) sparked market concerns over QC consistency. In the RM60,000 bracket, the Yizhi EV3 faces fierce competition from the Chery QQ3 EV—which boasts a larger footprint (4,195 mm length, 2,700 mm wheelbase), costs nearly RM4,000 less, and also offers a 540-degree camera setup. The EV3's primary competitive edge lies in its brake-by-wire tech and Level 2 ADAS suite, though whether buyers are willing to pay the premium remains to be seen.

In summary, priced between RM62,800 and RM66,800, the 2026 Yizhi EV3 stands out with its class-exclusive combination of Level 2 ADAS and brake-by-wire technology, offering an impressive safety specification. Nevertheless, against aggressive "price slashers" like the QQ3 EV, defending its price proposition while maintaining build quality consistency will be its biggest test.
