Hongqi is an ultra-luxury car brand under FAW Group Co., Ltd., and is the national brand in China's automotive industry with the deepest historical roots and symbolic significance. History

Founding Pioneer Period (1958–2017)

The birth of the Hongqi brand can be traced back to the early stage of New China's industry. In 1958, China's first domestically produced high-end sedan—Hongqi CA72 was successfully prototype at Changchun First Automobile Manufacturing Plant, ending the history that China could not produce high-end cars. Revival and Reform Period (2018–2022)

In August 2017, Xu Liuping assumed the position of Chairman of FAW, pushing for Hongqi brand reform with the efforts of the entire group.On January 8, 2018, Xu Liuping released the New Hongqi Brand Strategy at the Great Hall of the People, explicitly stating to build Hongqi into a "New Noble Brand" of "Number One in China, Famous in the World", opening a new chapter in Hongqi's marketization reform.Thereafter, Hongqi densely launched models such as H5, HS5, H9, which met mass consumption needs, changing the previous stereotype of "official cars" and successfully transitioning to the civilian market.
