It has undergone an extraordinary evolution—transitioning from a rugged, rear-wheel-drive official fleet staple to stepping out of the limelight, and now reborn as an intelligent, next-generation plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV).

Carrying forward the brand’s signature Chinese luxury heritage, the all-new Hongqi H7 adopts a transverse high-efficiency hybrid architecture tailored to modern low-carbon mobility demands, creating a benchmark in all-round occupant safety and executive cabin comfort. Model Overview 

Positioned as an executive C-segment luxury hybrid saloon, the all-new Hongqi H7 centres its core market proposition around distinctive Chinese luxury aesthetics, class-leading electrified efficiency, and uncompromised active and passive safety across the board.

In terms of vehicle architecture and footprint, it sits neatly between the Hongqi H5 and the flagship Hongqi H9. The new model takes the fight directly to contenders like the BYD Han EV/DM-i, Stelato S9, and established continental executive saloons. Boasting a commanding 5.06-metre overall length, an extended wheelbase ideal for family road trips and corporate chauffeuring, alongside a potent dual-motor PHEV powertrain capable of a 0-100 km/h sprint in 3.9 seconds, the all-new Hongqi H7 shatters the conventional stereotype that executive petrol saloons are inherently fuel-thirsty and lacking in advanced tech.

Development History 

From its roots as a national automotive icon heralding the rise of homegrown luxury to its temporary hiatus and PHEV renaissance, the Hongqi H7’s trajectory mirrors the advancement of China's flagship automotive industry: 

First-generation pioneer & official fleet icon (2013–2021): Debuting in 2013 on a longitudinal rear-wheel-drive platform, the first-generation Hongqi H7 bore the crucial mission of establishing a domestic presence in the executive saloon segment, frequently deployed for state-level diplomatic reception and government procurement fleets. However, without a major ground-up platform overhaul over a decade, it eventually passed the mantle to the newer Hongqi H9, bowing out of production around 2021.

All-new PHEV strategic revival (2026–present): As part of FAW Hongqi's comprehensive new energy vehicle (NEV) roadmap, the iconic "H7" nameplate has been officially revived. Transitioned into a C-segment luxury hybrid saloon, the all-new model was formally unveiled in MIIT vehicle filings. Featuring a thoroughly reimagined exterior, a redesigned cabin, and a dedicated 1.5T plug-in hybrid electric powertrain, it completes a dramatic shift from a traditional petrol government saloon to a tech-laden, eco-conscious executive cockpit, with a global launch scheduled within the year.

It seamlessly capitalises on the legacy model’s well-established reputation for composure, presence, and safety among corporate leaders, while its cutting-edge PHEV setup directly tackles the high fuel consumption traditionally associated with executive saloons. With its phased rollout across domestic and selected international markets, the model is making strong inroads into the middle-class trade-in segment and premium private-hire/chauffeur markets, driven by its exceptional high-speed NVH refinement and ultra-frugal fuel consumption even under depleted battery conditions.

The exterior design incorporates the brand's latest central red accent line, a star-diamond illuminated closed waterfall front grille, and full-width rear light clusters, delivering an ultra-low drag coefficient while projecting understated oriental elegance.

Scintillating performance: Driven by high-output twin electric motors, this five-metre-long luxury saloon completes the century sprint (0-100 km/h) in just 3.9 seconds. 

Class-leading efficiency: Alongside sportscar-rivalling acceleration, the powertrain boasts high thermal efficiency, delivering an official combined fuel consumption as low as 4.4 litres per 100 km in charge-depleting mode, striking an ideal balance between high performance, extended cruising range, and low running costs. 

Modern Chinese intelligent digital cockpit:

Refined interior design: The cabin is appointed in sophisticated palettes like soft beige, featuring a minimalist dashboard free of physical clutter, seamlessly integrated slim air vents, a steering column-mounted electronic gear selector, and a floating digital centre console bridge.

Executive-grade comfort: Outfitted with a bespoke Hongqi high-fidelity surround sound system, the car features class-above integrated headrest speakers for both front and rear occupants. Ergonomically contoured seats are wrapped in premium leather and feature multi-mode pneumatic massage, three-stage seat ventilation, and heating, complemented by a front high-output wireless charging pad.

Adaptive chassis & ADAS suite: The chassis incorporates Continuous Damping Control (CDC) adaptive suspension, scanning road surfaces in milliseconds to dynamically adjust damping rates for a plush ride over uneven pavement.
