2026-09-20 09:30:00

Model Overview

The Geely Geometry E is a compact all-electric SUV introduced in 2022 by Geometry, Geely Auto's standalone EV sub-brand. Marketed as a "youthful premium pure electric SUV", it effectively plugged the Geometry brand's gap in the A0-segment EV market. On 30 June 2022, the Geometry E officially went on sale with three variants: 320km Guaiqiao Tiger, 401km Linglong Tiger, and 401km Pili Tiger, priced between RM86,800 and RM103,800 after subsidies. The lineup subsequently evolved under the Firefly moniker, with the 2024 model's price band dropping to between RM59,800 and RM89,800. Dimension-wise, the Geometry E measures 4,006 mm long, 1,765 mm wide, and 1,550 mm tall, riding on a 2,485 mm wheelbase. Configured as a 5-door, 5-seater across all trims, it targets urban commuters and young families looking for an affordable daily runabout, going head-to-head with rivals such as the BYD Seagull, Leapmotor T03, and NETA V.

Design Language

The Geometry E showcases Geometry's contemporary design philosophy, characterised by fresh, youthful styling. Up front, it features a closed-off grille paired with a full-width LED light bar, complemented by lower split headlamp units accented with fluorescent yellow trim for a distinctive visual signature. Along the sides, a two-tone colour scheme, floating roofline, segmented character lines, and flush door handles combine aesthetic flair with everyday practicality, rounded off by standard 16-inch alloy wheels. The rear adopts a clean aesthetic with L-shaped smoked tail lamps, a dual-element roof spoiler, and a high-mounted third brake light, reinforcing its SUV stance. Four vibrant exterior paint options are offered—Vine Green, Jasmine White, Mint Green, and Blue Lotus—tailored to the tastes of younger buyers.

Inside, the Geometry E leans into a minimalist, tech-driven cabin aesthetic. Higher-end variants feature a floating dual-screen setup housing twin 10.25-inch high-definition displays for the digital instrument cluster and infotainment touchscreen. The dashboard incorporates the interactive "Inspiration Light" strip, which shifts colours and lighting animations to indicate vehicle unlocking, charging, and powertrain ready states, while also offering welcome lighting sequences. The air-conditioning vents feature rounded-square acrylic surrounds, which work alongside the high-mounted "Rhythm Hill" stereo speakers at either end of the dash to deliver a chic, upmarket cabin ambience. Gear selection is handled via a steering column-mounted electronic stalk or a rotary dial on the centre console, maximising centre tunnel storage and usability.

Powertrain and Performance

The entire Geometry E range is powered by a front-mounted permanent magnet synchronous electric motor producing 60 kW (around 82 PS) and 130 Nm of peak torque, mated to a single-speed reduction gearbox in a front-wheel-drive (FWD) configuration. The motor boasts an overall efficiency exceeding 87% and incorporates an active thermal management system to keep the high-voltage powertrain operating within optimal temperature ranges. In terms of driving range, early Geometry E models offered two CLTC-rated variants of 320 km and 401 km, paired with 33.5 kWh and 39.4 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery packs, respectively. The 2024 Firefly edition refined this setup with a 39.3 kWh battery while maintaining the 401 km CLTC range rating. Battery cells are sourced from reputable suppliers including Gotion High-Tech and CATL, backed by a lifetime battery cell warranty with unlimited mileage and duration for the first non-commercial owner. For charging, all variants support both DC fast charging and AC slow charging; a 30% to 80% DC top-up takes just 30 minutes, whereas an AC full charge requires 6 to 6.5 hours. A 3.3 kW Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) external power supply comes standard across the board, providing plug-in utility for outdoor activities and camping gear. Top speed is capped at 110 km/h in Eco mode and reaches 121 km/h in Sport mode. Acceleration between 0 and 80 km/h is noticeably peppier than internal combustion engine rivals in this price bracket, though overtaking punch at higher highway speeds remains modest.

Ride and Handling

Underneath, the Geometry E utilises a front MacPherson strut independent suspension and a rear torsion beam semi-independent setup, with the underfloor battery pack lowering the vehicle's centre of gravity. Suspension damping is calibrated on the firmer, composed side, soaking up ruts and speed humps effectively at low to moderate speeds to deliver commendable ride refinement for an entry-level EV. Thanks to the low-slung weight of the battery pack, the chassis feels planted with minimal float over undulating roads, delivering highway composure on par with mainstream segment benchmarks. The electric power steering (EPS) is light yet precise with quick off-centre response, making tight U-turns and urban parking effortless. The regenerative braking system provides High, Medium, and Low settings with well-defined steps; even at its highest setting, the deceleration force builds progressively without feeling jerky. Braking hardware consists of front ventilated discs and rear solid discs, paired with an electronic parking brake (EPB) with Auto Hold. Overall, chassis dynamics are tuned primarily for urban comfort and fuss-free daily commuting, true to its city runabout brief.

Cabin and Equipment

The Geometry E runs an intuitive proprietary infotainment system featuring a clean, flat UI layout. Flagship variants boast twin 10.25-inch panoramic dual displays, while mid-to-lower trims combine a 10.25-inch central infotainment unit with a 9.8-inch digital driver display, with select entry models utilizing an 8-inch meter cluster. The infotainment suite comes pre-loaded with popular apps including AutoNavi Maps 5.0, Ximalaya, and Kuwo Music, alongside full over-the-air (OTA) update capability for ongoing software enhancements. Across the range, it features the iFLYTEK 3.5 intelligent voice control system paired with the "Xiao He" virtual assistant, allowing continuous dialogue to manage climate settings, power windows, navigation, and media playback via voice prompts. Comfort and convenience appointments include leatherette or fabric upholstery (trim-dependent), while range-topping variants gain an antibacterial microfibre steering wheel, CN95-grade cabin air filtration, a fresh air ventilation system, keyless entry with push-start button, and mobile app telematics. Boot capacity stands at 356 litres in its standard layout and expands up to 1,000 litres with the one-piece folding rear seatback, supported by 33 practical storage compartments scattered across the interior.

Safety and Driver Assistance

On the passive and active safety front, the Geometry E is fitted standard with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control (TCS), electronic stability programme (ESP), brake assist, and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS). The vehicle structure utilises a high-strength cage design, while upper variants add post-collision automatic door unlocking, emergency hazard light activation, and an integrated dashcam.

In terms of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), higher-spec variants come equipped with Level 2 semi-autonomous driving capabilities. The perception suite is anchored by a forward-facing monocular camera (with a 150-metre detection range and a field of view of 100° horizontal and 33.6° vertical), capable of tracking up to 25 targets concurrently, including passenger vehicles, two-wheelers, and pedestrians. Key ADAS features include Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), and Intelligent High Beam Control (IHBC). A 360-degree surround-view monitor and reverse parking sensors are also available as options to simplify tight parking manoeuvres.

Market Performance and Reception

Since entering the market nearly four years ago, the Geometry E's sales trajectory has followed a "high start, low finish" curve. Initial monthly deliveries hovered just above 1,000 units before settling into a steady volume of around 2,000 to 3,000 units per month. As of 2025, cumulative sales of the Geometry E lineup have surpassed 200,000 units; however, it has struggled to maintain sales momentum against runaway segment leaders like the BYD Seagull and Leapmotor T03. Even after rolling out limited-time discounts of up to RM8,000 in the second half of 2024, monthly sales remained subdued at around 1,600 units, widening the gap with top-selling rivals. On the export front, the crossover is shipped overseas to Europe and other international markets under the "Geometry E" badge, retailing in France at around €27,600 post-subsidy (approximately RM218,000)—commanding a notable premium over its domestic market price while remaining a competitively priced entry into the European budget EV space.

From an ownership perspective, the Geometry E draws praise for its head-turning design, versatile 5-door 5-seater packaging, competitive 401 km electric range, and the inclusion of standard 3.3 kW V2L functionality. Cabin practicality and low running costs have also earned widespread owner satisfaction. Conversely, drawbacks highlighted include the entry-level variant offering only dual airbags and omitting rear parking sensors, representing a noticeable spec gap across trims; modest electric motor power that blunts high-speed overtaking performance; and the rear torsion beam suspension transmitting pronounced jolts over sharp speed humps. From a brand standpoint, Geometry's market presence within the Geely stable lags behind more prominent sub-brands like Zeekr and Galaxy. With dealer reports indicating that the model has entered stock-clearing phases and ongoing brand restructuring clouding future prospects, consumer buying sentiment has been dampened to some extent. On balance, with its clear positioning as a "youthful premium pure electric SUV", the Geely Geometry E has carved out a unique niche in the RM50,000 to RM100,000 entry-level EV runabout market on the strength of its stylish looks, dual 10.25-inch digital screens, and Level 2 ADAS suite; nonetheless, against an intensely contested budget EV landscape, there remains substantial headroom for improvement in terms of sales volume and overall brand presence.
