G&B Design

2026-05-29 11:30:00

G&B Design is a niche high-end automotive modification brand originating from Germany, headquartered in Recklinghausen, North Rhine-Westphalia. The brand focuses on personalized customization and modification of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class, with exaggerated widebody kits and extreme visual impact as its core features. G&B Design has over a decade of technical accumulation in the automotive modification field, establishing recognition within professional modification circles thanks to its signature work, the "G-Boss." Similar to top modification brands such as Brabus, Mansory, LUMMA, and WALD, it is committed to pushing this classic rugged off-road vehicle to the extreme of more personalized aesthetics.

History

G&B Design accumulated years of industry experience before entering the public eye, but the brand remained in a low-profile state for a long time. In September 2021, the brand officially released its first set of public works globally—the G-Boss widebody modification scheme targeting the Mercedes-Benz G-Class W463 generation. The kit covered comprehensive modifications to the exterior and interior, and upon debut, it triggered widespread attention from automotive media worldwide. The brand defined the G-Boss as a modification case with a very exotic style, where its exaggerated yellow-black color scheme and bold widebody shape became the core memory points. Since then, G&B Design has not launched a second modified vehicle model, with the brand’s operational focus highly concentrated on the G-Boss kit. It still provides services and support for this kit through professional modification channels to this day.

Product Portfolio

G&B Design follows a streamlined single product line strategy, currently with only one core product under its brand — the G-Boss widebody modification kit for the W463 generation Mercedes-Benz G-Class.

G-Boss kit is available for the full range of W463 generation G-Class vehicles (including base models and high-end models such as G 63), covering three upgrade modules: exterior, interior, and wheels, but does not include any modifications to the powertrain, belonging to a pure visual style modification scheme. Regarding the exterior, G-Boss replaces the front hood and front splitter with a highly sculptural feel, refines the radiator grille and smoked headlights, and features a two-part black and yellow front splitter. The front bumper lower lip and extended side skirts visually connect; the large "G&B Design" badge on the grille replaces the original three-pointed star badge. The wheel arches on the side of the body are widened to accommodate custom wheels, with yellow and black two-tone decorative panels accenting the front and rear doors; a black character line runs from the front of the car to the rear. The rear uses a carbon fiber external spare tire cover and carbon fiber mirror covers, the rear lip mirrors the design of the front splitter, and the rear spoiler is redesigned and integrates three LED light clusters.

Regarding the interior, G-Boss uses black and yellow two-tone leather wrapping, combined with diamond quilting craft seats, yellow seatbelts and seat decorative stitching accenting within, and a large amount of carbon fiber material is integrated into the car interior. The roof lining is equipped with an illuminated "G-Boss" logo sign mimicking the Rolls-Royce starlight headliner effect, creating an exclusive cockpit atmosphere. Regarding the chassis and wheels, G-Boss switches to 24x10 inches front and 24x11.5 inches rear ultra-large custom wheels, paired with 295/30 specification tires, the body stance is significantly lowered, strengthening road sport attributes.

Market Performance

The G-Boss kit triggered polarized reviews in the automotive media after being released in 2021. Multiple media outlets commented that its color scheme resembled a school bus or a bumblebee, with some voices believing the kit deviated too much from the original rugged off-road spirit of the G-Class. At the same time, a large number of automotive information platforms reported and displayed the kit, bringing significant exposure effects to the brand.

Regarding actual transactions in the custom modification market, the G-Boss kit adopts a made-to-order production mode, and the brand has not publicly disclosed kit sales volume or specific revenue data. The kit involves comprehensive replacement and addition of dozens of components such as the engine hood, front and rear bumpers, side skirts, wheel arches, carbon fiber trim, etc. Customers need to send the original vehicle to the brand's headquarters in Recklinghausen or partner modification shops to complete custom construction, with no public batch inventory or standardized retail price.

Technology and Innovation

G&B Design’s technical core revolves around the industrial design and whole-vehicle visual reshaping capabilities of the G-Boss widebody kit, rather than deep engineering development of the powertrain system.

In widebody design engineering, the G-Boss kit completes the appearance reshaping of front and rear bumpers, fenders, side skirts, and other body panels without changing the original chassis frame structure. The matching of widebody wheel arches and front bumpers, the visual connection of side skirts and front and rear lips, and the aerodynamic considerations of the roof spoiler all reflect the brand’s deep understanding of the G-Class body shape.

In terms of high-end material application, the G-Boss uses carbon fiber materials on high-gloss parts such as the spare tire cover and mirror covers. The carbon fiber rear spoiler provides a certain amount of aerodynamic assistance to the whole vehicle while considering lightweighting and visual effects. Regarding the interior, black and yellow leather seats with diamond quilting craftsmanship, a starlight headliner, and an illuminated logo showcase the brand’s delicate craftsmanship level in the interior customization field.

In terms of chassis and wheel matching, G-Boss offers 24x10-inch front and 24x11.5-inch rear ultra-large custom wheels, breaking the original factory wheel size limit of the G-Class. The widebody modification of the wheel arches is the technical prerequisite to accommodate such large wheels.

Global Presence

G&B Design’s headquarters, design development, and modification construction are all located in Recklinghausen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The brand has not set up any branch production factories or official authorized dealerships overseas, and all modification business requires customers to send vehicles to the German headquarters to complete the work. In terms of commercial expansion, the brand has not disclosed a clear overseas market strategy, nor has it publicly revealed any overseas agent systems, overseas production bases, or export order information. In the Asia-Pacific region, the brand has no official representative offices, service centers, or agent networks.

Future Outlook

As of 2026, G&B Design has not announced any modification development plans for new models, and the brand has no public schedule to expand its product matrix or enter overseas markets. Against the backdrop of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class completing its transition from the W463 to the W464 generation, whether the brand will launch a successor kit for the new G-Class remains unknown. If no new generation products are released in the future, G&B Design will most likely maintain inventory service operations for the G-Boss kit and continue to operate in the custom modification field in a minimalist mode.
