Frangivento (FV Frangivento Automotive) is a hand-built hypercar manufacturer originating from Turin, Italy. The brand name means "wind breaker" in Italian. The company was co-founded in 2015 by entrepreneur Paolo Mancini and designer Giorgio Pirolo, with "ultimate design, ultimate performance, and customizability" as its core principles, and focuses on creating all-electric and plug-in hybrid hypercars. The brand logo consists of a set of geometric zigzag lines forming a lightning pattern, symbolizing extreme speed and power. The first owner of the car was Jordanian cardiac surgeon Abdallah Raweh, who participated directly in the full vehicle customization design process.
Frangivento was officially founded in 2015. In 2017, the brand unveiled its first model—the all-electric hypercar Charlotte Roadster—at the Monaco Top Marques show in April of that year. In 2019, the plug-in hybrid hypercar Asfanè was launched. Its exterior was handcrafted from aluminum alloy, with two motors on the front wheels providing an additional 150 horsepower, bringing total maximum power to 1,010 horsepower and an all-electric range of 50 kilometers. In December 2020, the Abu Dhabi Palace Hotel released the Asfanè DieciDieci. In April 2021, the third model, the Sorpasso, was launched, available in Stradale and GTXX versions. Although pricing was not announced, it was understood to start at the million-euro level. Around 2022, the brand upgraded the Sorpasso for track performance and collaborated with the Turin design studio Mario Levi Group to create an extreme GT3 version.
Frangivento's product line operates through purely manual, limited custom methods.
Charlotte Roadster (2017) is an all-electric convertible sports car. It is equipped with a 70 kWh lithium battery and four motors producing a total of 885 horsepower, achieving 0-100 km/h acceleration in 2.6 seconds and a top speed of 305 km/h with a vehicle weight of 1,500 kg. Its starting price is approximately $1.6 million.
Asfanè (2019) is the brand's first plug-in hybrid hypercar, measuring 4,600 mm in length, 2,050 mm in width, and 1,150 mm in height. The aluminum alloy hand-built body is also available in a carbon fiber version. A 5.2L V10 engine (860 hp) is paired with dual front motors (an additional 150 hp), delivering a combined output of 1,010 hp. The car features a pistol-style door handle design, paying homage to the racing signal gun tradition.
Sorpasso (2021) is the milestone series for the brand's fuel-powered phase. The Stradale version is equipped with a 610 hp naturally aspirated V10, while the GTXX version features an 850 hp supercharged V10. Both versions use an all-wheel-drive system. The full carbon fiber monocoque body weighs only 1,300 kg. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 2.9 seconds, with a top speed of 345 km/h. Customers can choose between Sviluppo and Ego customization levels, and can also customize an exclusive digital nameplate for the GTXX version.
Frangivento's overall production volume is extremely limited, and the brand does not publicly disclose sales, production, or revenue data. Its core business model is limited handcrafted manufacturing. The Charlotte Roadster had only a few prototype cars built. The Asfanè hybrid version carries a reference price of around $1.6 million, which varies by production batch. The Sorpasso opened for pre-orders after its launch, with the first customers reportedly taking delivery in Monaco and the UAE in the second half of 2021. After 2022, the brand's reputation spread primarily through media coverage and hypercar shows in France, Italy, and other European countries. The actual number of registered vehicles remains far smaller than that of traditional hypercar manufacturers. The Sorpasso GT3 version appeared publicly at shows early on, but whether it ever reached the customer delivery stage remains unconfirmed.
The brand's core technology revolves around three areas: lightweight design, high-voltage hybrid architecture, and aerodynamics. The Asfanè hybrid version adopts a "mid-mounted V10 plus front dual motors" parallel PHEV architecture, with an all-electric range of 50 km. Comprehensive torque data is not publicly available, but the instant high torque contributed by the electric motors effectively improves the low-end torque response of the V10 engine. All Sorpasso models feature a carbon fiber monocoque body, which offers a lower center of gravity and higher rigidity compared to aluminum alloy shells. In terms of aerodynamics, longitudinal wing surfaces extending from the roof rearward, combined with the rear diffuser, effectively guide roof airflow and help increase rear axle downforce. Inside, the car introduces the Avatar Driving Assistant, an AI voice assistant developed by Sistemevo capable of natural conversation with the driver.
Frangivento has its headquarters and production base in the Turin area of Italy. Its major suppliers include Brembo, Sparco, OZ, and others, with approximately 15 upstream and downstream enterprises collaborating on vehicle design and manufacturing. The brand's overseas strategy focuses on targeted promotion to the global high-net-worth population. Initial launches were carried out in markets such as Monaco and Dubai, targeting the billionaire segment. The first orders were completed for delivery in July and were concentrated in Middle Eastern and European niche markets. To date, the brand has not announced any plans to enter the Chinese market or to establish overseas KD (knock-down assembly) factories.
Frangivento has not yet released any specific investment plans for mass production models in the future. The brand's core approach will likely continue to follow the "ultra-limited plus deep customization" hand-built model. Operating on an order-driven basis ensures the rarity of each vehicle. In terms of technology, the brand has completed practice across all powertrain types—pure electric (Charlotte Roadster), hybrid (Asfanè), and fuel (Sorpasso). If supported by greater capital in the future, it is expected to drive deeper iteration in high-voltage three-electric systems, full carbon fiber chassis, and Level 2+ intelligent driving assistance. However, constrained by the scale and capacity of its independent small factory, it is more likely to continue maintaining a one-car-at-a-time, long-cycle development rhythm, focusing on design-driven excellence, track-proven power, and a persistence with fuel heritage in the face of the electrification wave.
