Brand Overview

FAW Linghe is a car brand under FAW Lingyuan Automobile Manufacturing Co., Ltd., with the operating entity being Liaoning Aerospace Linghe Automobile Co., Ltd., headquartered in Lingyuan City, Liaoning Province. Founded in 1959 as Liaoning Province Linghe Automobile Manufacturing Factory, in November 1993 it invested in a joint venture with FAW Group and was renamed FAW Lingyuan Automobile Manufacturing Co., Ltd., with the brand officially named "FAW Linghe." In 2013, Shanghai Feihe Group invested in a restructuring of FAW Lingyuan, and in 2016 it was merged by the Beijing Aerospace Launch Technology Research Institute and Aerospace Investment Holding Co., Ltd. under the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, and renamed to Liaoning Aerospace Linghe Automobile Co., Ltd. The company's registered capital is now 637 million RMB, occupying 1,005 mu, and it possesses four major process systems: stamping, welding, painting, and assembly, with an annual vehicle production capacity of 100,000 vehicles. It is the only heavy truck R&D and production base in Liaoning Province.

Development History

FAW Linghe's history can be traced back to the Lingyuan Xinsheng Joint Enterprise Company established in 1959. In 1964, the company began producing "Linghe Brand" buses and military insulated vehicles; in 1970, it launched Liaoning Province's first medium-sized cargo truck, the "Liaoning No. 1", and its production output once ranked among the top three in the country. In 1984, the company achieved mass production of flat-cab medium trucks, completing the transition from gasoline to diesel earlier than Dongfeng and FAW Jiefang.

In 1993, Linghe Automobile Manufacturing Factory invested in a joint venture with China First Automobile Group, was renamed FAW Lingyuan Automobile Manufacturing Co., Ltd., and the brand was named "FAW Linghe." In 2013, under the investment restructuring of Shanghai Feihe Group, the company's headquarters and R&D center moved to Shanghai. In December 2016, the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation completed the merger and restructuring of Linghe Automobile, which was officially renamed Liaoning Aerospace Linghe Automobile Co., Ltd., opening a new stage of development under an aerospace background.

Product Portfolio

FAW Linghe's complete vehicle product lines cover five major sectors: pickup trucks, light trucks, medium and heavy trucks, special purpose vehicles, and new energy vehicles.

Medium and Heavy Truck Series: These include two platforms, the F200 and S200. The F200 tractors offer 6×2 and 6×4 drive configurations, with options for Foton Cummins and Weichai engines, with maximum power covering 375 to 580 horsepower, and are matched with Fast Gear 12-speed transmissions across the series. The S200 is a new vehicle series, equipped with Weichai 460 to 500 horsepower engines, and comes standard with tire pressure monitoring, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, LED headlights, and an IoV system. In terms of dump trucks, there are three series: the F200, Linghe, and Zhongchi, with the maximum drive configuration reaching 8×4.

Light Truck Series: This includes three series: Oriental Star, City Star, and Lingyuan. The Oriental Star drive configurations cover 4×2 and 4×4, with engines selectable from FAW Jiefang Engine, Foton Cummins, Yuchai, Chaichai, Isuzu, Yunneng Power, and other brands, and cargo box lengths ranging from 3.8 to 7.8 meters. The City Star and Lingyuan series focus on the 4×2 light truck market, with cargo box lengths of 3.8 to 4.2 meters.

Pickup Models: Represented by the "Leishen," the 2018 model features an Isuzu 2.5T diesel engine with maximum power of 95 kW and peak torque of 320 N·m, matched with a 6-speed manual transmission, offering both 2WD and 4WD options, priced at 93,800 to 119,800 RMB.

New Energy Products: The company established FAW Linghe in 2015 to officially enter the new energy vehicle field, launching the first low-speed electric vehicle model, the "Lingdong A8," priced at 18,000 to 34,000 RMB, with a maximum driving range of 150 km. The Caofeidian New Energy Production Base has an annual capacity of 20,000 vehicles, with a planned total capacity of 100,000 vehicles.

Market Performance

According to data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, in 2025, vehicle production at Liaoning Aerospace Linghe Automobile Co., Ltd. was 700 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 109.14%; vehicle sales were 600 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 106.95%. In the new energy vehicle sector, annual production and sales were both 11 units, with a production-to-sales rate of 100%. FAW Linghe's current market size is relatively small, mainly serving the needs of special purpose vehicles and commercial vehicles in Liaoning Province and some specific regions.

Core Technologies

The company holds production qualifications for seven major categories of complete vehicles: light and medium-heavy cargo trucks, dump trucks, tractors, special purpose vehicles, off-road vehicles, semi-trailers, and bus chassis. In the R&D sector, FAW Lingyuan established its Automobile Research Institute in 2018, forming strategic alliances with multiple professional institutions to engage in complete vehicle and key component R&D. In the new energy sector, it has obtained more than ten pioneering patented technologies. Its low-speed electric vehicle products are equipped with a GPS and BeiDou dual-mode positioning system, a "human-vehicle-cloud" new concept technology, and a visual BMS battery management system.

Global Presence

In 2018, FAW Linghe's Feihe Automotive segment began entering the overseas market, with sales and service networks accelerating growth. Relying on the strategic resources of the Beijing Aerospace Launch Technology Research Institute and Aerospace Investment Holding Co., Ltd. under the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, it has formed an export channel system covering Northeast Asia and the Belt and Road regions. The specific export scale is currently not public.

Future Outlook

As the only heavy truck R&D and production base in Liaoning Province, FAW Linghe is accelerating industrial upgrades by relying on the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation's equipment manufacturing background. In 2026, the company clarified its development strategy of taking full-series commercial vehicles as its cornerstone and new energy special purpose vehicles as its new growth pole. In the new energy sector, sales and production of low-speed electric vehicles are recovering, and the company plans to further expand its product line with "intelligence plus new energy" as its core focus. In the long term, FAW Linghe will fully leverage the technical advantages of its aerospace background, continuously expanding its boundaries toward pure electric and other comprehensive new energy solutions, striving to become a backbone force in the commercial vehicle industry of Northeast China.
