Bestune (Chinese: 一汽奔腾; pinyin: Yīqì Bēnténg), formerly known as Besturn, is a mainstream Chinese passenger vehicle marque established in 2006.
Operating as a wholly-owned subsidiary of FAW Group (First Automobile Works), one of China's "Big Four" state-owned automotive conglomerates, the brand plays a critical role in FAW's independent domestic vehicle portfolio. It bridges the gap between mass-market economy vehicles and FAW's ultra-luxury flagship brand, Hongqi.
The development history of FAW Bestune is a microcosm of Chinese independent brands from initiation to continuous reform.
Brand Establishment and Fuel Era (2006-2017): On August 18, 2006, the first model of the Bestune brand, the Bestune B70, was launched. As China's first high-starting point, high-quality, high-performance independent mid-to-high-end sedan, the Bestune B70, through a series of pioneering safety tests including the domestic first real-person rollover and extreme static pressure tests, established the first trust in safety for Chinese independent high-end sedans and broke the long-term monopoly of joint venture brands in the mid-to-high-end sedan market.
Brand Refresh and IoT Exploration (2018-2023): In October 2018, FAW Bestune released the "New Bestune" brand development strategy in Tengchong, Yunnan, officially adopting the newly designed "Window to the World" Logo and taking "Pioneer of IoT Cars" as the brand positioning and pursuit. Inheriting the new strategy, the Bestune T77 was launched based on the 3D Holographic Smart Control System, and IoT cars such as T33 and T99 were rapidly rolled out, opening a new stage of IoT cars centered on "Quality · Intelligence · Creation".
Full Transformation towards New and NEV Transition (2024-Present): In 2024, FAW Bestune officially launched the "Full Move Towards New" action, fully transforming towards new energy and intelligent connected vehicles. In 2025, Bestune completed equity diversification reform, successfully introducing strategic investors such as Jiangsu Yueda Automobile Group, Agricultural Bank Investment, China Telecom, and Horizon Robotics, covering finance, industry, and technology fields, completing an 8.55 billion Yuan capital increase, injecting strong capital power and innovation genes into the new energy transformation. That year, the brand-new new energy series "Yueyi" was officially launched, marking that Bestune has fully entered the fast lane of electrification transformation.
FAW Bestune has formed a dual‑brand matrix, consisting of the main Bestune brand and the newly established "FAW Yueyi" new energy brand.
Bestune Brand continues its classic lineup, with fuel and existing new energy models including the Bestune B70, Bestune T90, Bestune T99, as well as the Bestune Xiaoma (Pony), which once achieved strong sales in the micro‑EV segment.
"FAW Yueyi" New Energy Brand was strategically upgraded from the original "Bestune Yueyi" series in early 2026. Positioned as a "new carmaker" with both influence and personality under China FAW, the brand carries the proposition of "adding joy to life." Yueyi has planned three product matrices: E, P, and R. The E series focuses on urban mobility; the P series is positioned around "super electric hybrid" products; and the R series serves as the tech flagship, targeting the next‑generation global style smart car market. According to the plan, Yueyi will launch six all‑new new energy products within two years, covering A0 to B+ segments, with pure electric, hybrid, and extended‑range powertrains.
2025 marked the 20th anniversary of FAW Bestune, with annual sales reaching 200,017 units, a year-on-year increase of 33%, creating the highest level in the brand's 20-year history. Among them, new energy vehicle sales reached 171,957 units, a year-on-year growth of 107%, with the new energy penetration rate breaking through 85%, far exceeding the industry average by 20 percentage points.
Bestune Xiaoma Became the core engine driving the rebound of Bestune sales. As an A00 class micro pure electric vehicle model, Bestune Xiaoma was officially launched in 2024. Relying on the "Six Good Product Forces" of "Good Looking, Good Driving, Fun" and the quality endorsement of major manufacturer production, Bestune Xiaoma achieved annual sales of over 110,000 units in 2025, consistently ranking in the top three in the micro EV niche market for consecutive months. However, it is worth noting that Bestune Xiaoma's price is only 24,900 Yuan to 53,900 Yuan, accounting for a high proportion of 65% of Bestune's total annual sales. The gross margin is extremely low, deeply binding the brand image with "Ultra-low price commuter cars", adding difficulty for its subsequent brand upward mobility.
The Yueyi series, as the main thrust for Bestune brand upward breakthrough, currently offers Yueyi 03, Yueyi 07, and the flagship model Yueyi 08. Yueyi 03 is positioned as a "70,000-level Huge Pure Electric SUV". Relying on core advantages such as a CLTC range of 445 km and a 2750 mm long wheelbase, it competes with competitors such as BYD Yuan PLUS in the 100,000-level pure electric SUV market, with cumulative sales of 28,600 units in 2025 and average monthly sales of approximately 3,000 units. Yueyi 07 is equipped with China FAW BMP Super Electric Hybrid technology, with a CLTC combined range reaching up to 1,555 km, positioned as a new benchmark for home hybrid SUVs. The flagship model Yueyi 08 is positioned as a B+ class Dual-Energy Flagship Sedan, offering pure electric and extended range dual power options, equipped with LiDAR and a full-blooded Snapdragon 8295 chip, premiering at the 2026 Global Ecosystem Partner Conference, and planned for official launch within the year.
Entering 2026, FAW Bestune faced short-term sales volatility pressure due to new energy subsidy reductions and the fierce competition in the micro vehicle market, with the main selling model Bestune Xiaoma sales declining significantly. However, the brand has established a reform direction for dual breakthroughs in domestic and overseas markets. The first two months of 2026 saw exports continue to rise against the trend, becoming an important stabilizer to buffer domestic structural volatility.
FAW Bestune is committed to technology‑driven growth, drawing on over 70 years of vehicle R&D heritage from China FAW to build an independently controllable technology support system. In February 2025, the brand unveiled a new new energy technology cluster—comprising the Yueying Platform, Zhuri Power, and Ruyi Cockpit—at its "Yueyi Tech Day."
Yueying Platform serves as the foundational architecture for Yueyi new energy technologies, built on five pillars: Super Light Architecture, Versatile Comfort Ride, Smart Efficiency, Star Drive Chassis, and Rock Solid Security. It supports flexible wheelbase adjustments from 2,650 mm to 3,100 mm and covers pure electric, extended‑range, and hybrid powertrain routes. The Super Light Architecture enables intelligent mobility through integrated multi‑core and multi‑domain integration, powered by AI models. Rock Solid Security establishes a "Six‑in‑One" safety technology system, with a nine‑layer defense framework centered on "Nine Keys."
Zhuri Power covers three technology routes—Super Pure Electric, Super Hybrid, and Super Extended Range—delivering comprehensive new energy power solutions through precise energy management and efficiency optimisation. The BMP Super Hybrid technology is featured in the Yueyi 07 model, redefining value standards in the electric hybrid SUV segment.
Ruyi Cockpit creates a safe, immersive, and intelligent mobility ecosystem, integrating AI large models and cockpit ecology to become a "soul mate that truly understands the user."
Over the years, Bestune has built a "Tech Friends Circle" through deep collaboration with industry leaders including China Telecom, CATL, Horizon Robotics, and Huawei, advancing frontier exploration in 5G, cloud computing, smart cockpits, and battery safety.
