Model Overview

The Bestune Yueyi 07 is a D-segment plug-in hybrid (PHEV) SUV launched under FAW Bestune's Yueyi product range. Officially launched on 26 May 2025, it is the first mass-production model powered by China FAW's Zhuri Power BMP Super Electric Hybrid system, as well as the second offering built on the Yueying platform. The new model comes in 4 variants, with official retail pricing ranging from RM99,800 to RM139,900, whilst non-Zhixuan variants benefit from a limited-time RM10,000 cash rebate. In September 2025, the 210km Changxiang Edition was introduced, further lowering the entry point for the extended-range version. Positioned as an "RM90k-class ultra-spacious PHEV SUV", it centres on "ultra-long range, ultra-strong performance, and ultra-high reliability" as its key selling points, targeting segment rivals such as the BYD Song Pro DM-i, Geely Galaxy Starship 7 EM-i, and Changan Qiyuan Q05.

Design Language

The Bestune Yueyi 07 inherits the Yueyi family's "Spatiotemporal Light and Shadow" design philosophy. Up front, it features a closed-off grille flanked by a split-headlamp setup, with the upper section housing a full-width LED light bar and an illuminated brand emblem for strong visual identity at night; the main high and low beams sit lower down the bumper, complemented by small air curtains underneath to enhance aerodynamic efficiency. Along the sides, it displays dynamic, flowing profile lines alongside conventional pull-type door handles and a dual-tone exterior finish. The rear mirrors the front with a smoked full-width LED taillight bar, matched with a blacked-out rear bumper diffuser trim and concealed exhaust outlets. Exterior dimensions stand at 4,745 mm long, 1,880 mm wide, and 1,710 mm tall, riding on a 2,772 mm wheelbase. Four exterior paint options are offered: Yunguang White, Liuguang Grey, Huguang Green, and Xingguang Black.

Inside, the cabin features a clean, minimalist T-shaped dashboard layout, fitted with a three-spoke multi-function steering wheel, an 8-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.6-inch portrait infotainment touchscreen, and a column-mounted electronic gear selector. Three interior themes are available: Obsidian Black, Amber Brown, and Lingzhi White. The seats are upholstered in industry-first benzene-free, odourless Lingzhi bio-leather, engineered to meet baby-safe, skin-friendly standards.

Powertrain & Performance

Powering the Bestune Yueyi 07 is the Zhuri Power BMP Super Electric Hybrid system, pairing a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with a front-mounted permanent magnet synchronous electric motor. The 1.5T engine churns out 110 kW and 225 Nm of torque, achieving a thermal efficiency of 45.21%. The drive motor puts out 168 kW and 340 Nm, mated to a dedicated 1-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT). The official 0-100 km/h sprint is completed in 6.9 seconds or 7.1 seconds depending on the variant; 0-50 km/h standing acceleration takes just 2.8 seconds, whilst 50-85 km/h mid-range overtaking takes 3 seconds. The vehicle has a claimed top speed of 180 km/h, with real-world tests achieving 207 km/h.

For the battery pack, two lithium iron phosphate (LFP) options are available: 21.2 kWh and 30.9 kWh. These deliver CLTC-rated pure electric ranges of 150 km and 210 km respectively. Total CLTC combined range stands at 1,500 km, with extreme real-world endurance tests yielding over 1,750 km+. Both AC and DC fast charging are standard across the range, supporting up to 2C DC fast charging to juice the battery from 30% to 80% state of charge in 20 minutes. CLTC fuel consumption with a depleted battery is rated at 3.9 L/100 km, alongside an electricity consumption of 11.9 kWh/100 km. Drivers can toggle between four operating modes: Intelligent Hybrid, EV Priority, Petrol Priority, and Range Extender Priority.

Chassis & Dynamics

Underneath, the Bestune Yueyi 07 rides on front MacPherson struts and a rear multi-link independent suspension. It runs in a front-wheel-drive (FWD) layout. Most variants ride on 225/55 R19 Linglong tyres engineered for sportiness and low road noise, while the Changxiang Edition gets 255/60 R18 tyres. Professionally tuned by engineering teams, motoring media have praised its suspension for cleanly absorbing road humps without lingering vibrations, while offering precise on-centre steering, composed high-speed lane transitions, and well-managed body roll through corners. It also comes with a dedicated Snow Mode that moderates throttle mapping on icy and slippery surfaces, providing added driving confidence for northern climate conditions.

Cabin & Equipment

On the digital front, the Bestune Yueyi 07 features the AI large-model "Ruyi Cockpit". The infotainment system integrates DeepSeek functionality, supporting full-scenario voice recognition with millisecond response times and the ability to process up to 15 sequential voice commands. Smartphone connectivity includes HUAWEI HiCar and Carlink.

The interior adopts a practical five-seat configuration. It offers an expansive 3.3-metre total passenger volume, with 2,530 mm of combined front and rear legroom. Boot space starts at 590 litres and expands up to 1,800 litres with the rear seats folded flat. There are 33 modular storage cubbies dotted throughout the interior. Creature comforts include a 1.2 m² tilt-and-slide panoramic sunroof, a 400 mm waterfall ambient light strip, heated front and rear seats, and a heated steering wheel. Higher-spec models can be optioned with an 8-speaker sound system and 32-colour interior ambient lighting. A 50W wireless smartphone charging pad is fitted up front.

Safety & Driver Assistance

In terms of structural safety, the Bestune Yueyi 07 utilises a high-strength safety cage body, comprising 75% high-strength steel and 25% hot-stamped ultra-high-strength steel. The battery pack is among the industry's first to comply with the latest Super Armour national safety standards, packing 13-layer cloud-to-vehicle integrated protection, an ultra-high-strength steel outer shell, a stepped crumple-resistant honeycomb structure, and an IP68 waterproof rating, effortlessly passing rigorous underbody impact and thermal runaway diffusion tests. A 360-degree surround-view camera is standard across the range.

For active safety, higher-spec variants come equipped with an L2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), which includes SACC (Smart Adaptive Cruise Control), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Departure Warning, Forward/Rear Collision Warning, and Door Open Warning.

Market Performance & Verdict

FAW Bestune's management initially pinned high hopes on the Bestune Yueyi 07 at launch. In December 2025, monthly sales peaked at 1,522 units. However, figures soon took a sharp downturn—dropping to just 227 units in January 2026, an 85% month-on-month decline; between May and October 2025, monthly deliveries also lingered between 211 and 462 units. Industry analysts note that despite its well-rounded product package, Bestune's brand equity still lags behind heavyweights like BYD, Leapmotor, and Haval, dampening its showroom presence.

Even so, the Bestune Yueyi 07 has earned solid industry accolades, clinching three authoritative recognitions: "China's Top 10 Engines, China's Top 10 Car Bodies, and China's Top 10 Chassis". China FAW also backs the SUV with a lifetime warranty on the vehicle and hybrid electric components for original owners. As the debut model for China FAW's BMP Super Electric Hybrid powertrain, the Bestune Yueyi 07 opens up the D-segment PHEV SUV market to the RM100k price bracket with its RM99,800 starting price, offering remarkable value for money across range, performance, interior space, and safety.
