Tesla Cybercab: Fully autonomous EV begins operations, China multi-city showcase tour set for mid-September

Tesla has officially launched the production version of its steering-wheel-free, fully autonomous EV, the Cybercab, which has commenced commercial operations in Austin, USA.

By ditching the steering wheel, pedals, and wing mirrors, the new model achieves higher operational efficiency to cater to diverse mobility needs. 

It's said that the Cybercab will embark on a multi-city tour in China in mid-September, visiting major cities including Beijing and Shanghai.

In terms of exterior design, the Cybercab features a sleek coupé silhouette.

The front end is fitted with a full-width light bar alongside headlights with projection functionality, creating a distinctly futuristic aura. The vehicle showcases fluid body lines paired with butterfly doors, while the rear styling mirrors the design language of the Cybertruck, complete with a full-width taillight bar.

Inside the cabin, Elon Musk stated that the new car completely eliminates the steering wheel, the accelerator and brake pedals, coming with Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) system.

The seats adopt an integrated design with segmented backrests and cushions, complemented by a foldable centre armrest and a centre screen.

Regarding its powertrain, the Cybercab foregoes a conventional charging port and is highly likely to adopt wireless charging. Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with a robotic arm capable of automatically cleaning the cabin.
