BMW recently announced the real-world performance of its new-generation long-wheelbase BMW iX3. The vehicle underwent a highly valuable endurance test on the actual road environment of the Qinghai Lake Ring Road. It completed over 800 kilometers without needing to recharge during the one-way trip, and still retained 2% battery charge after the return journey.

The test recorded an average energy consumption of 12.6 kilowatt-hours per 100 kilometers, achieving a real-world range completion rate exceeding 90%. Converted to comprehensive range, it is expected to surpass 840 kilometers, demonstrating the new-generation iX3's excellent energy consumption control in its class and overcoming the common issue of inflated range figures in electric vehicles.

Here are the key details about the iX3: Regarding exterior design, the new model retains BMW's iconic 3D illuminated kidney grille, featuring a gem-like three-dimensional and exquisite texture. Combined with the "Digital Angel Wing" optical design, it reinterprets the brand's classic BMW 1500 hood line. The specially structured LED lighting offers profound depth and strong three-dimensionality, providing highly recognizable visual effects.

In terms of dimensions, the new long-wheelbase version features an extended wheelbase of 108 millimeters compared to the standard model, resulting in a final wheelbase of 3005 millimeters. All additional space is dedicated to the rear seats, significantly enhancing rear passenger comfort and meeting the needs of family commuting and long-distance driving.

The classic Hofmeister kink on the side profile has been upgraded to the new "Mirror-Gloss Kink," creating dynamic light and shadow effects that are "reflective on the outside and transparent on the inside" through ultra-thin titanium oxide stripes. The rear is equipped with L-shaped taillights and Tianyu taillights, offering infinite gradations of visual layers. This design widens the visual presence of the rear end while echoing the dynamic styling of the front lights, giving the entire body a sense of three-dimensional dynamism and power.

At the core of its powertrain, the new-generation BMW iX3 is equipped with BMW's sixth-generation eDrive electric drive technology. It features BMW's cylindrical battery, an in-house developed intelligent energy control system, and a new-generation motor, all integrated with a global 800V high-voltage platform, comprehensively strengthening its hardware capabilities.

The vehicle adopts a dual-motor layout, with the front motor delivering 116 kW and the rear motor producing 235 kW, ensuring abundant and smooth power output. The official CLTC pure electric range exceeds 900 km. Coupled with the impressive real-road test results, this model can effectively alleviate range anxiety and charging concerns for electric vehicle users, whether for daily city commuting or intercity long-distance travel.
