Firefly is a premium smart electric small car brand under NIO, targeting the younger, personalised urban commuter market. Firefly was officially launched in late 2024, with the first model hitting the Chinese mainland market in April 2025.

Firefly features a rear-mounted single motor with rear-wheel drive. The 2026 updated model's motor peak power has been increased to 120kW (approximately 163 hp), with a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 7.9 seconds. It is equipped with a 42.1 kWh battery, offering a CLTC range of 420 km and energy consumption of just 10.9 kWh per 100 km.

The body structure uses 83.4% high-strength steel and aluminium, featuring ultra-wide dual front crash beams. Firefly features a 13.2-inch 2.5K HD central touchscreen and a 6-inch digital instrument cluster, running the Aster OS with OTA update support. Other features include 50W wireless phone charging, 256-colour ambient lighting, a 14-speaker sound system with Dolby Atmos, a fragrance system, and Level 2 assisted driving (including full-speed adaptive cruise control and lane keeping).

Firefly offers multiple driving modes, including Sport, Eco, and Standard/Comfort. Drivers can switch based on road conditions and personal preferences. Sport mode provides more aggressive power delivery, while Eco mode prioritises energy efficiency for city commuting. It also supports one-pedal driving mode to reduce driver fatigue in stop-and-go traffic.

Firefly's signature design feature is the front and rear "Triple Play" three-ring LED light clusters, offering high visibility at night. The exterior features a floating two-tone body and multi-spoke alloy wheels. The interior includes a walk-through centre console design, hidden storage drawers beneath the cup holders, and a magnetic anchor point system that works with various storage accessories, making it highly practical.
