At this year’s Hong Kong Auto Expo, NIO brings its premium sub-brand FIREFLY and its corresponding vehicle model. The model has already entered right-hand-drive markets in Southeast Asia and other regions.
The firefly adopts a minimalist yet classic design language. It features the brand’s exclusive Triple-Ring Concert headlights. The number “3” symbolises auspicious meanings such as “ten thousand things born from three” and “continuous good fortune,” giving the lighting a dynamic and distinctive character. The body incorporates capsule-like lines and energetic diagonal accents, maintaining consistency with the headlight design for strong overall recognisability.
The rear features a clamshell tailgate that seamlessly integrates with the taillight cluster, forming a unique cut-surface design. This not only delivers a fresh and modern appearance but also optimises aerodynamic performance, striking an excellent balance between aesthetics and practicality.
The interior features a 13.2-inch 2.5K high-definition central touchscreen paired with a 6-inch dynamic instrument cluster, offering clear visuals and intuitive operation. A centre console spans between the driver and passenger seats, facilitating communication while making entry and exit easier in Hong Kong’s narrow streets and tight parking spaces.
The steering wheel bears the firefly logo and is wrapped in antimicrobial ultra-soft leather for a comfortable grip and premium texture. A column-mounted gear selector is used to save space in the front centre console, creating a more open and spacious visual effect.
Designed for daily commuting and short trips, the firefly emphasises thoughtful space optimisation. It includes a large 92-litre front trunk with multi-level storage and integrated drainage, ideal for outdoor gear and everyday essentials. The rear seats can be folded flexibly without removing the headrests, creating a flat load floor exceeding 1,253 litres. Additionally, a 29-litre hidden storage compartment is located under the right-side rear seat, further enhancing practical storage for Hong Kong users.
The firefly is powered by a single-motor system producing a maximum output of 120kW. The standard range version is equipped with a 42.1kWh battery pack, delivering a maximum range of 420km, which is well-suited for urban commuting and cross-district travel in Hong Kong.
Particularly tuned for Hong Kong’s dense urban environment, the vehicle boasts a class-leading minimum turning radius of just 4.7 metres, making it highly agile in narrow alleys and busy streets. It also comes standard with an all-scenario automatic parking system, significantly reducing the stress of parking in tight spaces.
