BYD's 2026: How to Tell a Compelling Chinese Story About "Creation"

On August 25, the 2026 Silk Road 10,000 Miles Tour · Enlightenment Road concluded in Singapore. This 33-day event, organized by Shaanxi Broadcasting Media Group (Station), departed from Xi'an on July 24, traversed famous Silk Road cities in China, crossed the sea deep into Thailand and Malaysia, and finally arrived in Singapore.

BYD served as the designated vehicle for the entire event protection team. Mid-August, I followed BYD from Quanzhou to Shenzhen, and observed the Shenzhen outbound ceremony on-site on August 14.

My journey with BYD went from Quanzhou, Chaozhou, Shantou to Shenzhen, which is the "Sea Road" before setting sail on the Silk Road. Not only did I unlock these cities that I rarely visit unless it's for work, but I also personally experienced the convenience of BYD Flash Charging and the smoothness of intelligent driving travel.

What I saw along the way was interesting, and combined with the recent completion of 10,000 BYD Flash Charging stations, what I felt most touched me was:

Chinese people have always been good at creatively solving complex problems in history — and this undoubtedly forms a great resonance with the creativity shown by Chinese brands represented by BYD today.

10,000 Flash Charging Stations Completed, BYD Energy Refueling Enters Deep Implementation Phase

From BYD releasing the "Flash Charging China" strategy on March 5, 2026, to BYD Flash Charging stations officially starting operations was merely over 5 months — however, on August 28, BYD's 10,000th Flash Charging station and Shenzhen Longhua Flash Charging Flagship Station were officially completed, setting three records for Chinese automakers:

Most self-built domestic charging stations, fastest completion of 10,000 charging stations, and widest coverage area of domestic charging stations.

Wang Junbao, General Manager of BYD Flash Charging Business, stated that these 10,000 Flash Charging stations cover 332 cities. Among them, 4,228 are Wish Fulfillment Stations, realizing the wish of 74,281 users to build stations; first and second-tier cities achieved 100% coverage of Flash Charging stations. In core cities such as Shenzhen, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Xi'an, and Chongqing, there is a Flash Charging station per 3 km on average in urban areas. "Finding a Flash Charging station is as convenient as finding a gas station."

In third and fourth-tier cities, Flash Charging station coverage also reached 100%, with a Flash Charging station within an average of 4 km in urban areas.

At this "Flash Charging Silk Road, Smart Travel 10,000 Miles" event, we also experienced energy replenishment efficiency at a BYD Flash Charging station in a highway rest area — actually, since the "Flash Charging China" strategy was released in March this year, we have experienced "5 minutes to fully charge, 9 minutes to completely fill" super charging at different Flash Charging stations in different cities using different models under BYD.

From the 2027 model Seal 06 EV at the 100,000 price tier to the Denza Z9GT at the 300,000 price tier, their battery capacity differences are large, with pure electric ranges from 500+ km to 1,000+ km, but all can achieve the same charging speed on BYD Flash Charging piles: 5 minutes of peace of mind before departure. And when this energy replenishment experience changes from the initial novelty, full of sci-fi feeling, to the daily routine of car owners, I believe this will be subversive to the change in the new energy market —

In our daily long-distance inter-provincial driving, we are completely insensitive to power consumption because the speed of Flash Charging energy replenishment is faster than refueling. This maximally resolves the last concern of users on "range anxiety" during the "fuel to electric" process.

Here I must mention again: I recently tested the energy consumption of the 2027 model Seal 06 EV, and the Second-generation Blade Battery lives up to its name: under the support of energy replenishment efficiency, car owners may not worry too much about range, but BYD has done better than my expectation with solid strength. Whether on highways or daily urban road conditions, the range is very solid.

To put it this way, in daily use, it steadily reaches 90% range. Even for range-sensitive users, when choosing BYD "Gen 2 Blade" models, they can completely put aside concerns.

Just like in our Quanzhou-Chaozhou-Shantou-Shenzhen driving process this time, I never cared about "how far can I still run", because on the new BYD models released in 2026, range is really just a number, just like we rarely cared about this number when driving fuel cars back then.

This steady sense of peace, along with the construction of BYD Flash Charging network, will become an industry consensus — at this time, whoever falls behind in Three-Electric capabilities and energy replenishment efficiency, I think will soon face elimination.

BYD Flash Charging stations have currently accumulated charging volume exceeding 210 million kWh, and this number has also broken the industry's fastest record. At the Beijing Jindu Du Auto City Flash Charging station on August 22, its single gun daily charging volume had broken 2,983 kWh. Equivalent to serving 54 vehicles at this Flash Charging station single gun daily — this means BYD Flash Charging can not only achieve "charging as fast as refueling", the "single gun turnover rate" of Flash Charging stations can also rival gas stations.

And within these over 5 months, BYD has already reached deep cooperation with Sinopec, PetroChina, China Resources, Shell, TELD, etc. The first Flash Charging Flagship Station co-built by BYD and Sinopec Youjie has also landed in Shanghai Hongqiao.

In 2026, the competition in China's new energy vehicle industry has entered the most intense and ruthless elimination stage. The narrative BYD built on the "Flash Charging China" strategy firmly built the technical foundation, and quickly launched a series of new models.

Moreover, BYD's narrative context has always been a global map — BYD will build 6,000 Flash Charging stations overseas, which have already landed in Europe, Americas, etc.

From "Flash Charging China" to "Flash Charging Planet", BYD truly interprets that sentence:

The bigger the heart, the bigger the stage.

Chinese Innovation Spirit Carved on Guangji Bridge and BYD

Among the cities passed by on the "Flash Charging Silk Road, Smart Travel 10,000 Miles" route, the most impressive to me was Chaozhou.

As the saying goes, "If you go to Chaozhou but not the bridge, you wasted the trip". Chaozhou's Guangji Bridge, along with Luoyang Bridge, Zhaozhou Bridge, and Lugou Bridge, are called "China's Four Famous Ancient Bridges", and was praised by Ma Yisheng as "The earliest movable bridge in the world". Guangji Bridge is 518 meters long, integrating three forms of beam bridge, arch bridge, and floating bridge — the east and west sections are stone beam bridges, with the middle connected by 18 pontoon boats forming a floating bridge. This rigid stone beam + flexible floating bridge design solved the passage difficulty of wide river surfaces and also met the navigation requirements of large merchant ships, being the ultimate embodiment of ancients' wisdom of "coexisting with water".

The construction of Guangji Bridge was not smooth sailing either. It took 57 years just to build the stone beam bridge body, and over the following 300 years, repairs and optimizations continued. Standing on Guangji Bridge, one can fully feel the diligence, resilience, and wisdom of Chaozhou people. Interestingly, Guangji Bridge does not have a single "designer"; it is the result of construction by craftsmen led by local officials of successive generations.

Therefore, Chinese innovation has never been imaginary, but rather rooted in reality, adapting to nature, systems integration, and continuous iteration. This is very much like BYD's entrepreneurial journey — it firmly believes in the new energy direction and was the first globally to announce the termination of fuel vehicles. Since then, the first globally to achieve 10 million-level new energy whole vehicle production lines, it was also the market feedback of following the trend and rooting in reality. And today's Second-generation Blade Battery and Flash Charging technology are also not born from thin air — they are technical results of systems integration and continuous iteration.

From "Product Export" to "System Export", Echo of the Millennium Silk Road

I noticed a number: In the concluding city of "Flash Charging Silk Road, Smart Travel 10,000 Miles" — Singapore, BYD has captured the Singapore passenger car full-brand sales champion for 19 consecutive months. In January-July 2026, the market share in passenger cars reached 24.7%, and the pure electric market share was as high as 40.3%.

In the "Going Global" narrative, BYD is no longer just whole vehicle exports, but simultaneously outputting Second-generation Blade Battery, Flash Charging energy replenishment system full new energy solutions, landing Flash Charging stations overseas synchronously, achieving "Vehicle + Energy + Smart Technology" integrated export.

As the first globally to scale land PV-Storage-Charging integrated technology, BYD has landed the first Flash Charging station in Europe, built a dedicated energy replenishment network in Uzbekistan, laid out local production bases in Thailand and Brazil, and even brought the "PV-Storage-Charging" integrated power station solution to Central Asia, helping countries along the route build a green traffic ecosystem in the way of "teaching a man to fish".

This model, I think its very key point lies in it no longer is just the export of products like cars, but integrating into local energy structures, providing solutions for local industrial upgrades — this allows BYD to achieve the essential change from "Selling Products" to "Building Ecosystems" in the global context.

Jiashi Review

On August 28, BYD released H1 2026 financial report: Operating revenue 344.8 billion yuan, Net profit attributable to shareholders 12.3 billion yuan, R&D investment 28.9 billion yuan, Cash reserves 167.4 billion yuan.

Worth noting is that BYD's net profit in the second quarter grew 30% year-on-year, gross margin continued upward trend, reaching 18.9%, a new high in nearly a year, profitability steadily improved, and achieved resilient growth in a fierce competitive environment, further consolidating industry status.

In H1 2026, BYD overseas sales reached 790,000 vehicles, up 68% year-on-year, business coverage in over 120 countries and regions globally, and topped new energy vehicle brand sales charts in core markets such as UK, Brazil, Thailand. With the continuous release of overseas local production capacity and continuous improvement of channel systems, overseas sector has become an important engine pulling BYD performance growth.

And from this "Flash Charging Silk Road, Smart Travel 10,000 Miles" journey, my most profound experience is undoubtedly seeing BYD's global expansion has completed a qualitative leap:

From Product Export, leaped to System Export, completing "Globalization 2.0" earlier than other automakers.

Past Silk Roads were merely transporting excellent Chinese products and culture to the world through the Silk Road, but now, BYD has exported PV-Storage-Charging integrated power station solutions, green traffic ecosystem construction solutions to Silk Road countries along the route.

At this moment, I feel a bookending resonance standing in the long river of history, Chinese automobile enterprises represented by BYD have already completed an era upgrade from "Product Output" to "Whole-Industry-Chain Technology Output".

Chinese people's long resilience and innovation spirit and inheritance from generation to generation is the underlying source of power for BYD completing one technological breakthrough after another; and "Silk Road" as a symbol of China influencing the world in history will continue to witness Chinese automobile enterprises represented by BYD, the ongoing new era global narrative.

And this story, has just entered the most exciting chapter.
