Years to Sharpen a Sword? Big Move? Chery Fengyun T7 Pre-sale Starts at 109,900!

To be honest, in this fast-paced era, Chery suddenly launched a pure electric SUV — Fengyun T7, which took exactly four years from project initiation to R&D testing, and the pre-sale price ranges from 109,900 to 129,900. At first glance, you might feel, what era is this now? A car that took four years to develop, will it be directly outdated upon launch? To be honest, I thought the same at first. But after carefully examining the configuration parameters and looking at the R&D behind this car, I found that Chery's strategy here is really somewhat unconventional.

Let's set aside those gimmicks and look at the hard cards this car reveals.

The most unexpected is its range strategy. Many models in the same class offer only 400+ or 500 km of range for the entry-level version, but to get long range you have to force yourself to buy mid-to-high trim models. But this Fengyun T7 comes standard with a 65.05kWh Rhino lithium iron phosphate battery across the entire series, directly giving CLTC range of 600km! The entire series is 600km, combined with 0.286Cd low drag coefficient, single motor max power 178kW, fast charge from 30% to 80% takes only 20 minutes. What does this mean? You buy a 109,900 entry version, range and 129,900 top trim is exactly the same, no worry in range.

For interior and tech feel, Chery has given solid material this time. Wraparound center console plus minimalist dual-tone design, texture is quite neat. It directly adopted a 4nm process Qualcomm Snapdragon 8775 cockpit integrated chip, computing power 72 TOPS, and also built-in Doubao AI intelligent voice interaction large model. Like SONY audio, 50W phone wireless fast charging, panoramic sunroof, cloud-sense comfortable seats, even in front of the cup holder, it keeps a row of physical buttons for common functions, I must give a thumbs up, blind operation is indeed much more convenient.

However, its body dimensions are quite standard, length width height 4,570 x 1,852 x 1,694mm, wheelbase 2700mm, although the rear floor is done pure flat, regular trunk 450L (rear seats folded can expand to 1550L, underneath there is a 99L sunken space), but compared to competitors 2750mm or even 2800mm+ wheelbase, Fengyun T7 in space accounts indeed not quite outstanding.

So where did Chery spend this four years?

It turns out Fengyun T7 is a "Global Car"! It is strictly developed according to 2026 version E-NCAP five-star safety standard, ran strict tests globally. Even before launch in our domestic market, its overseas version (Jaecoo J6/Pass L6 etc.) has already been sold in overseas markets such as South Africa, Thailand, one can say, domestic models are basically very perfect.

But back to the point, can this car quickly take root? To be honest, not that easy.

The current 100,000-150,000 pure electric SUV market is very competitive. For example, Geely Galaxy E5 is eyeing it, Changan Deepal S05 is even larger in size, top specs, not only has 2880mm ultra-large wheelbase, but LiDAR is also arranged. Compared to this, Fengyun T7 in space and ultimate intelligent driving upper limit does not have overwhelming advantage.

In my opinion, Chery Fengyun T7's entry point is very distinct: it gave up that flashy configuration attraction method, and turned to use "full series standard 600km large battery + global verified mechanical quality" to play trust card.

But I think, Chery's current pre-sale price (109,900-129,900) actually still carries traditional car enterprise testing the market caution. For entry buyers, 109,900 to buy 600km range is indeed great, but I suggest mid trim Shuxiang Edition is more cost-effective, after all panoramic sunroof, SONY audio these can bring quite a bit of comfortable experience; as for top trim high-end intelligent driving, in this level does not count as absolute necessity.

And whether Chery can rely on this "four years sharpen a sword" work to overturn opponents, ultimately it depends on whether at official launch, price can step on gas again. If official selling price can give another few thousand surprise, relying on this set of 600km full series standard sincerity, it definitely can become 100k level pure electric SUV game changer.
