In the 2026 Chinese automotive market, there's a popular term called 'Rushed Car'. What does it mean? It refers to compressing the cycle from a new car's R&D to launch from the over-three years generally needed in the fuel vehicle era to 18 months or even shorter. Someone joked that virtual racers in QQ Speed need half a year of beta testing before launch, while real cars worth hundreds of thousands in reality, some brands only give half a year. This comparison sounds a bit ironic, but thinking about it deeply is chilling.
Precisely for this reason, just two days ago, the National Automotive Standardization Technical Committee proposed raising the total mileage of reliability driving tests for new energy vehicles to 30,000 km. From industry self-reflection to standard upgrades, these three words 'Rushed Car' are being reconsidered.
Right within this trend of 'Nothing Beats Speed', on August 12, Chery Fengyun T7 opened pre-sales. Its theme is interesting - 'Slow work builds good cars, you've waited long enough'.

The word 'slow' appears a bit out of place in this era. Even some media publicly questioned: Others have finished facelifts for three generations, why is Fengyun T7 still 'coming soon'?
Chery gave three 'cannot be fast' responses: R&D cannot be fast, testing cannot be fast, co-creation cannot be fast.
Sounds official, right? But let's see where the 'slowness' of recent years actually lies.
Slow in R&D. Fengyun T7 has been in pre-research from 2022 to now, relying on Chery's global 1+7+N R&D system, 2 years planning, 3 years R&D. It is not a 'China Special' car - overseas called LEPAS L6, South Africa pre-sold, Thailand launched, subsequent entry into EU, Aus-NZ, UK and other 130+ countries and regions. One car needs to satisfy regulations of so many countries simultaneously, just regulation adaptation alone is not 18 months can finish.
Slow in standards. Fengyun T7 directly developed according to 2026 version E-NCAP five-star safety standards. Note, 2026 version is hitherto strictest version, covering safe driving, collision avoidance, collision protection, post-collision safety four dimensions. Chery accumulated 71 global five-star safety models. This is not pretty data run in lab, but rubbed out inch by inch in real extreme road conditions. Slow in validation. Fengyun T7 cumulatively invested 963 test vehicles, global durability test mileage reached 1.45 million km. Test routes covered EU, Australia, South America, Middle East, Southeast Asia, Russia, experienced high temp, high cold, high humidity, high salinity various extreme environments. Global 8 R&D centers design, 1000+ user co-creation, parts from Bosch, Valeo, Sony, chassis by original Maserati engineers tuning.
Simply put, this is a 'Go Global First, Return Home' road - first run around world verify quality, then return to domestic market. This road spends several times more time than 'Rush', but every step cannot bypass.

So the question: Consumers willing to pay for this 'slow'?

This question has a point. But I want to ask back a sentence: Is car manufacturing making phones, or making houses?
If a phone has a bug, restart it and it's fine. If a car has problems on the highway, that is a life-or-death matter. Instead of letting users act as 'test drivers' to find problems after launch, it's better to solve all problems before launch.
In the final analysis, this 'Fast vs. Slow' controversy reflects a clash of two car manufacturing logics: one treats cars as fast-moving consumer goods, pursuing speed and traffic; the other treats cars as durables, relentlessly pursuing quality and safety.
The suspension of 'Rushed Cars' targets not the ability for rapid iteration, but rather the disregard for safety and the perfunctory attitude towards quality.
Chery ranked first in Chinese brand passenger car exports for 23 consecutive years, global users breaking 20 million. An enterprise of this scale chose a 'slow' path. This is not an efficiency problem, it is a choice problem.

'You waited long enough' three words, are an apology to users, and also a promise to quality.
In this era where everything seeks speed, there are still people willing to slow down, and seriously build a car. This itself, is worth being seen.
As for this car produced with 'slowness', whether it can withstand the market's 'speed' test - time will provide the answer.
