Tesla Opens Over 1,000 Supercharger Stations to Non-Tesla Owners Nationwide

Tesla has officially upgraded its charging benefits for non-Tesla new energy vehicle owners. Non-Tesla owners can now enjoy time-of-use electricity pricing and parking fee reductions at eligible Tesla Supercharger stations across China. As of April 2026, Tesla has opened over 1,000 Supercharger stations and more than 400 Destination Charging stations to non-Tesla brands in mainland China, covering all provinces and municipalities.

The charging experience brings genuine equality into practice. Non-Tesla owners at open stations will have the same pricing structure as Tesla owners, with some locations offering free parking and time-of-use electricity pricing – a major step toward greener, more inclusive mobility. Peak charging power reaches 250kW, with real‑time hardware availability as high as 99.95%.

Non-Tesla owners can use the Tesla WeChat Mini Program or the Tesla App to find stations, check real-time availability, register, add payment, unlock parking spaces, plug in and start charging. Tesla‘s Supercharger network already covers every province and most prefecture-level cities. Major cities now enjoy a 15‑minute EV living circle, while key tourist routes such as Mohe to Dunhuang are also well serviced.

If a Supercharger station is completely occupied with the driver leaving the car plugged in after charging has finished, an idle fee of RMB 6.4 per minute applies, though a 20‑minute grace period is given before charging begins. First‑time idle fees are automatically waived, providing an extra safeguard.

In Hong Kong, several Supercharger stations in Tin Shui Wai, Tuen Mun, Tai Kok Tsui, Kowloon Bay and Causeway Bay have already opened to all EV owners, while medium‑speed charging stations are available across Sheung Shui, Sha Tin, Lai Chi Kok and Western District. However, local charging fees for non-Tesla users may be slightly higher than for Tesla owners – a pattern worth watching as competition intensifies in the territory‘s market. By the end of 2025, Hong Kong had 24 Supercharger stations with 130 Superchargers; the Sha Tin Hyatt Regency site is the largest in the Asia‑Pacific region.

Elon Musk‘s well‑known commitment not to build “a walled garden” has become reality. Tesla‘s open charging infrastructure now serves all EV owners, providing stable, efficient and widely accessible charging throughout China. For Hong Kong drivers, this signals a broader trend toward open charging standards; for the EV industry as a whole, it marks a turning point in building a shared and sustainable ecosystem.
