Core Technology

Xiaomi Auto takes the "Modena" architecture as the core technology base and systematically built five all-stack self-developed core technology clusters including motors, batteries, large die casting, intelligent driving, and intelligent cockpit. Multiple technical indicators reached industry leading levels.

XIAOMI HyperEngine is the core of the brand's power technology. Xiaomi self-developed three super motors: HyperEngine V6/V6s and V8s. Among them, the V6/V6s motor speed reaches 21,000 rpm, and is already mass-produced equipped on SU7 series models; the V8s motor speed reaches up to 27,200 rpm, power density reaches 10.14 kW/kg, peak power 425 kW, torque 635 N·m, motor efficiency reaches 98.11%, planned for subsequent mass production. Xiaomi cooperated with Shougang to develop 960 MPa highest strength special silicon steel sheets, the strength reaching twice that of mainstream industry products, while adopting two-way fully oil-cooled heat dissipation and S-shaped 3D oil circuit design, increasing stator heat dissipation area by 100%.

XIAOMI HyperCasting is the core capability of intelligent manufacturing. Xiaomi self-developed a 9,100-ton clamp force super die-casting machine, which can create a 72-in-1 integrated die-cast rear floor, significantly reducing the number of parts, improving body stiffness and manufacturing efficiency. Xiaomi also self-developed exclusive large die casting material "Titanium Alloy", becoming one of the few automotive enterprises in the world capable of self-developing large die casting materials.

Self-developed CTB Technology realizes the deep integration of the battery pack and the body. This technology integrates the battery pack with the chassis (body) structure, improving space utilization and structural strength, while adopting multi-level thermal runaway protection design, guaranteeing the intrinsic safety of the battery system. In 2026, Xiaomi plans to advance the annual production capacity of 15 GWh power battery factory project in Yizhuang, Beijing, jointly funded by CATL, BAIC, Jingneng, and Xiaomi Auto, further extending to the upstream and downstream battery industry chain.

XIAOMI Pilot is an all-stack self-developed high-level assisted driving system, covering the core algorithms of perception, decision-making, and execution throughout the link. The system integrates multi-sensor fusion perception schemes and high-precision map technology, supporting highway navigation assist, urban navigation assist, intelligent parking, and other functions, and continuously iterating and upgrading through OTA. The continuous evolution of VLA (Vision-Language-Action) technology lays the algorithm foundation for Xiaomi Auto to move towards L3/L4 level high-level autonomous driving.

XIAOMI Smart Cabin uses HyperOS as the underlying system, realizing ecosystem interconnection and seamless collaboration of "Human-Car-Home" full-scenario. Users can directly control Mijia smart home devices inside the car, mobile applications and in-vehicle machines flow seamlessly, and third-party application ecosystems also expand synchronously. In 2025, Xiaomi continued to focus deeply in the AI field. In March 2026, it released the flagship base model Xiaomi MiMo-V2-Pro with over one trillion total parameters (activated parameters 42B), and the all-modal model MiMo-V2-Omni, injecting AI interaction capabilities of the Agent era into the intelligent cockpit.

Whole Vehicle Production and Supply Chain Capability constitutes the physical guarantee for Xiaomi Auto's large-scale delivery. As of April 2026, the first and second phases of the Beijing factory are operating at full capacity with an annual production capacity of about 300,000 to 330,000 vehicles. The third phase factory has been put into production after the 2026 Spring Festival (annual production capacity 150,000 vehicles); The Wuhan factory is planned to start production in May 2026, with an annual production capacity of 150,000 vehicles. The overall annual production capacity is expected to exceed 600,000 vehicles. Song Gang, former Tesla manufacturing production vice president, was reported to have joined Xiaomi Auto to be responsible for the overall management of multi-factory capacity ramp-up.

Overseas Layout

Xiaomi Auto has taken a steady and solid strategy in its overseas layout. Since February 2025, the Xiaomi Group has launched a large-scale research work targeting the overseas automotive market. On January 29, 2026, Lei Jun announced at the 2026 Sino-British Entrepreneurs Committee meeting that Xiaomi plans to increase the number of UK market stores to 150 within the next four years. This move is seen as a preheat signal for Xiaomi Auto to enter the European market.

On April 27, 2026, Xiaomi Group partner and president Lu Weibing officially disclosed the globalization roadmap at the Xiaomi Investor Day: officially launch the globalization process in the second half of 2027, with the first stop chosen in the European market; Enter the right-hand drive market in the first half of 2028. The overseas strategy follows the path of "high-end first, mid-range later, developed market first, developing market later, left-hand drive first, right-hand drive later". To support this strategy, Xiaomi has hired Diether Lorenz, former Tesla Central and Eastern Europe regional delivery operations senior manager, to serve as the head of European delivery and logistics. The Xiaomi European R&D Center has also taken on the task of localizing technical adaptation targeting specific road conditions such as the German Autobahn unlimited speed limit. Xiaomi plans to promote its mature new retail models and digital marketing systems to overseas markets. In addition, Xiaomi has clearly stated that there is no plan to enter the US market at the current stage.
