Stride (Maiyue) is a brand in the field of China's automobile custom modification, belonging to Shanghai Volkswagen United Automobile Modification Co., Ltd., mainly engaging in custom modification and sales of high-end business MPVs. Shanghai Volkswagen United Automobile Modification Co., Ltd. is a subsidiary of Shanghai Chexiang Technology Industry Co., Ltd., under SAIC Group. Stride Motors cooperates with OEM manufacturers such as SAIC Roewe for joint development, launching joint modification versions, positioned in the mid-to-large MPV market, integrating comfort, luxury, and intelligence into one based on the design concept of "Mobile Living Space". Currently, the brand has only one car model — Stride iMAX8 Family Edition, officially launched in October 2022, providing two configuration models, with an official guidance price range of 362,800 RMB to 392,800 RMB. Stride Motors' target customer group is primarily multi-generational family users, focusing on family-friendly experience, class-leading comfort, and all-scenario practical functions, aiming to establish differentiated competitive advantages in the 400,000 RMB-level MPV market with configuration and cost-performance ratio.

Development History

Stride Motors' development path fully reflects SAIC Group's strategic layout in the field of automobile custom modification. The Stride Brand is operated by Shanghai Volkswagen United Automobile Modification Co., Ltd., which is a subsidiary of Shanghai Chexiang Technology Industry Co., Ltd. under SAIC Group. On October 27, 2022, Stride Motors officially launched its first model — the Stride iMAX8 Family Edition, jointly developed by Stride Motors and SAIC Roewe, based on deep modification of the Roewe iMAX8. The new car launch introduced two models: the 'Family Care Edition' priced at 362,800 RMB and the 'Family Cherished Edition' priced at 392,800 RMB.

Since its launch in October 2022, the Stride iMAX8 Family Edition has continued to appear in horizontal comparison reviews by various mainstream automotive media, competing on the same stage with similar MPV models such as the GAC Trumpchi E9, Hycan V09, and Toyota Granvia, confirming the brand's certain influence in the niche market. However, in terms of brand promotion and product iteration, as of 2026, the Stride Brand has not launched new models or conducted major product upgrades, and the overall brand rhythm is relatively slow.

Brand Matrix / Product Line

Stride Motors adheres to the focused strategy of 'One Car One Brand', with only one custom modification model under the brand.

The Stride iMAX8 Family Edition is a mid-to-large MPV modification model jointly developed based on the Roewe iMAX8, providing two configurations: 'Family Care Edition' and 'Family Cherished Edition'. This car is positioned as a mid-to-large MPV, with body dimensions of length 5,016 mm, width 1,909 mm, height 1,782 mm, and wheelbase 3,000 mm. In terms of appearance, the front face adopts a polygonal front grille with a honeycomb structure inside. The headlight groups on both sides adopt blackening treatment connected by through-type daytime running lights; the grille adopts a milky white design, forming a sharp contrast with brown paint. The rims adopt a gray disc-style shape, accentuated with brown trim strips, creating a strong sense of luxury texture. The interior adopts a dual-tone collision design with brown matching milky white, equipped with solid wood flooring. The second-row seats are upgraded, equipped with an LCD control screen able to control seat ventilation, heating, and massage functions. The power system is equipped with a 2.0T turbocharged engine, delivering a maximum power of 172 kW (234 hp) and a peak torque of 360 N·m, matching an 8-speed automatic transmission. The vehicle uses a front-engine front-wheel-drive layout, fitting the typical positioning of a family MPV.

High and low configuration differences are mainly concentrated at the intelligent technology configuration level. Compared to the low-spec, high-spec models have nearly 20 additional configurations, including blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning, active braking, 360-degree panoramic image, dual electric sliding doors, hands-free trunk, rear LCD screen, rear multimedia control, car refrigerator, etc. The high-spec version's price is only 30,000 RMB higher, reflecting a strong cost-performance advantage among cars in the same price range.

Market Performance

The Stride iMAX8 Family Edition, with its luxury modification positioning and strong configuration competitiveness, achieved certain sales performance at the beginning of its launch. According to available statistical data, annual sales of the Stride iMAX8 were approximately 2,040 units, with a monthly sales peak of approximately 753 units. In nodes such as January 2025 and September of the same year, this model continues to be mentioned in article pushes by mainstream automotive vertical media. It is equipped with mainstream safety functions such as anti-lock braking, LED daytime running lights, and brake assist. Terms like 'good sales' and 'hot again' were used multiple times in articles in automotive vertical media, indicating that the car maintains certain continued attention in the mid-to-large MPV niche market.

It is worth noting that the starting reference price of the Stride iMAX8 Family Edition in some car horizontal review articles in early 2026 has dropped to approximately 299,800 RMB, a significant downward adjustment compared to the guidance price of 362,800 RMB at the 2022 launch. The Stride brand has not published independent sales data for 2024 and subsequent years, and third-party data query platforms have also not recorded relatively complete sales data for the Stride brand.

Core Technology

Stride Motors' core technology strategy is based on the Roewe original factory chassis, achieving a high-end upgrade of the whole vehicle through interior and exterior design reshaping, smart cabin upgrades, and comfort system reinforcement.

In terms of powertrain, the Stride iMAX8 is equipped with a 2.0T turbocharged engine, adopting an aluminum alloy cylinder block and cylinder head to achieve a balance between lightweight design and power output. It delivers a maximum power of 172 kW (234 hp) and a peak torque of 360 N·m, matched with an Aisin 8-speed automatic transmission, considering both power response and smoothness.

In terms of chassis and suspension, it adopts a unibody structure with a combination of front MacPherson independent suspension and rear torsion beam non-independent suspension. This setup ensures the maximization of third-row seating space while considering shock absorption comfort for urban road conditions.

In terms of the smart cabin, the Stride iMAX8 is equipped with a 12.3-inch full LCD instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch central control large screen (in high-spec models). It features the iFlytek voice interaction system and supports APA automatic parking and an Level 2 intelligent driving assistance system, including ACC adaptive cruise control, AEB automatic emergency braking, and LKA lane keeping assist.

In terms of comfort configuration, the second row is upgraded to independent aviation seats, supporting multi-direction power adjustment, ventilation, heating, and leg rest functions. The rear row is equipped with dual LCD screens and an independent control unit, providing a comprehensive rear audio-video entertainment experience. The third-row middle seat can be folded down to form a wide center armrest, further improving rear passenger comfort. The body is also equipped with dual-side electric sliding doors and privacy glass, providing a more convenient and user-friendly usage experience for family travel scenarios.

Overseas Layout

The Stride brand is positioned in China's local high-end MPV modification niche market, mainly relying on SAIC Roewe's domestic market channels for sales. Currently, there is no public information indicating that Stride Motors has established official sales channels in overseas markets or has substantial export sales data.

Future Outlook

If Stride Motors wishes to continue to stand firm in the increasingly fierce high-end MPV custom market, it needs to add more product lines based on the existing Stride iMAX8 Family Edition or accelerate the model iteration rhythm. Currently, the Stride brand's model matrix is relatively thin. Against the background of competitors constantly launching new products in the mid-to-large MPV market, it faces significant competitive pressure. The Stride brand needs to leverage SAIC Group's system support in the future to layout in advance on new energy modification product lines, to cope with the electrification trend in the niche market.
