Model Overview

The Rolls-Royce Phantom is the flagship luxury saloon under Rolls-Royce Motor Cars and stands as the definitive benchmark in the global ultra-luxury automotive sphere. Originating in 1925, the Phantom nameplate has evolved across eight generations to date. The eighth-generation Phantom made its debut in 2017, followed by the introduction of the Series II facelift in 2022. As of June 2026, the 2026 Phantom is offered domestically in two configurations: the Standard Wheelbase (SWB) and Extended Wheelbase (EWB) versions. The manufacturer's recommended retail price is RM8,470,000 for the standard wheelbase version and RM9,860,000 for the extended wheelbase version. For reference, prices start from around USD 573,000 in the US market and roughly AUD 1,021,000 in Australia. The Phantom adopts a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout with an overall length between 5,770 mm and 5,990 mm, powered by a 6.75-litre V12 powerplant with a top speed electronically capped at 240–250 km/h. Kerb weight ranges from approximately 2,675 kg to 2,700 kg for the standard wheelbase variant and roughly 2,745 kg for the extended wheelbase variant.
Design Language
The Phantom's exterior styling is defined by an aura of supreme poise and timeless elegance. Across generations, it has retained its classic 2:1 body proportion and signature rear-hinged coach doors. The front fascia is dominated by the iconic Pantheon grille, proudly crowned by the Spirit of Ecstasy mascot. The 2022 Series II facelift introduced an illuminated grille and connected vehicle functionalities for the first time. In terms of dimensions, the standard wheelbase version measures 5,762 mm long, 2,018 mm wide, and 1,646 mm tall, with a 3,552 mm wheelbase; the extended wheelbase variant measures 5,990 mm in length, 2,018 mm in width, and 1,656 mm in height, riding on a 3,772 mm wheelbase. 21-inch alloy wheels are fitted as standard. The cabin represents the true soul of the Phantom. The eighth-generation model introduced 'The Gallery'—an uninterrupted glass fascia spanning the dashboard dedicated to showcasing Bespoke commissioned works of art. The interior is swathed in premium leather and rare wood veneers, while seat piping, carpets, and headrests can be tailored entirely to client specifications. The bespoke speaker grilles of the proprietary Bespoke Audio system are framed in open-pore obsidian Ayous wood trim.
Powertrain Performance
Under the bonnet, the Phantom is powered by Rolls-Royce's signature 6.75-litre twin-turbocharged V12 engine. It produces 420 kW (563 bhp / 571 PS) and a massive 900 Nm of peak torque from just 1,700 rpm. Power is transferred via a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission. The 0–100 km/h sprint is dispatched in 5.3 seconds for the standard wheelbase version and 5.4 seconds for the extended wheelbase version. Top speed is electronically governed at 250 km/h. In terms of combined fuel efficiency, it is rated at 14.5 L/100 km under the WLTC test cycle; under US EPA testing, it returns approximately 12 MPG in the city and 19 MPG on the highway. Fuel tank capacity stands at 90 litres.
Chassis and Handling
Chassis-wise, the Phantom is engineered on Rolls-Royce's proprietary all-aluminium 'Architecture of Luxury' spaceframe, delivering a 30% increase in structural rigidity. The suspension setup comprises a front double-wishbone and a rear five-link independent layout. The adaptive air suspension system works in tandem with a forward-facing stereo camera to scan road conditions ahead and proactively prime the dampers. The electronic damper control system executes millions of calculations per second based on body and wheel acceleration, steering inputs, and camera data to optimise ride comfort. Following the 2022 Series II update, four-wheel steering was incorporated to significantly improve low-speed manoeuvrability and high-speed stability. The car employs a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive configuration and ventilated disc brakes on all four corners. Packed with 130 kg of acoustic insulation, cabin noise at 100 km/h has been reduced by 10% compared to its predecessor.
Cabin and Features
Inside, the Phantom comes standard with a fully digital instrument display and a head-up display (HUD). The centre stack houses a 10.3-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration. The rear lounge is equipped with twin independent entertainment screens. Acoustic performance is delivered via a 1,300-watt Bespoke Audio system featuring 18 speakers. Passenger comforts include four-zone automatic climate control, multi-way power-adjustable rear executive seating, along with seat heating, ventilation, and massage functions. The signature Starlight Headliner remains one of the Phantom's most mesmerising hallmarks. Boot capacity is rated at 548 litres.
Safety and Intelligent Driving
On the safety front, the Phantom is equipped with a full array of airbags, comprising dual front, front side, rear side, and driver knee airbags. Active safety equipment includes Night Vision, driver drowsiness detection, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and Traction Control. In terms of driver assistance, the Phantom features a Level 2 ADAS suite encompassing Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Change Assist, Traffic Sign Recognition, Forward Collision Warning, and Autonomous Emergency Braking. Parking duties are assisted by front and rear parking sensors paired with a 360-degree surround-view camera system. The saloon rides on run-flat tyres and supports 5G connectivity alongside connected car telematics.
Market Performance and Evaluation
The Phantom maintains an unchallenged benchmark status in the global ultra-luxury saloon segment. In 2024, Rolls-Royce achieved global sales of 5,712 units; in 2025, global deliveries totalled 5,664 units, marking a marginal 0.8% year-on-year drop. The Phantom recorded 376 deliveries worldwide in 2025, down 9% year-on-year. In the Chinese market, Phantom sales have seen a gradual decline after peaking at 119 units in 2021: registering 100 units in 2022, 91 units in 2023, 66 units in 2024, and 22 units from January to November 2025. Overall sales of the Rolls-Royce brand in China have also pulled back substantially from the 2021 peak of approximately 1,653 units. Within the Rolls-Royce portfolio, the Cullinan led deliveries in 2025 with 3,291 units (commanding a 58% share), followed by Spectre at 1,002 units, Ghost at 993 units, and Phantom in fourth place. With virtually no direct rivals in its class, the Phantom's symbolic prestige and Bespoke customisation value extend far beyond mere sales numbers. Amid the transition toward electrification, Rolls-Royce has rolled out its first all-electric model, Spectre; yet as the flagship embodying the brand's century-old pedigree, the Phantom continues to uphold the mantle of "The Best Car in the World" through its committed V12 powertrain and uncompromising handcrafted excellence.
