Qualcomm Snapdragon Ride Platform

Snapdragon Ride is an open and scalable hardware-software platform for autonomous driving and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), unveiled by Qualcomm at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January 2020. The platform is engineered to provide carmakers with a full-stack solution spanning L1/L2 active safety to L4/L5 fully autonomous driving, powered by high-performance System-on-Chips (SoCs), dedicated accelerators, and a comprehensive software stack.

Platform Evolution and Product Line-up

Through continuous development and iteration, the Snapdragon Ride platform has established a multi-tiered product line-up tailored to diverse market requirements.

  • Snapdragon Ride (SA8650): The second-generation intelligent driving chip launched in 2022, built on a 4nm/5nm process. It is offered in two AI compute configurations of 50 TOPS and 100 TOPS, delivering CPU computing performance of up to 230K DMIPS, matching the NVIDIA Orin X. With a typical power consumption of around 25W to 40W, it meets the ISO 26262 ASIL-D functional safety standard, supports up to 12 camera inputs, and targets the mid-range passenger vehicle segment priced between RM100,000 and RM200,000. Key tier-1 solution partners in China include Momenta, HAOMO.AI, and ThunderSoft, among others.

  • Snapdragon Ride Flex (SA8775P): A cockpit-ADAS central compute SoC introduced in 2023, marking the industry's first integration of digital cockpit and ADAS functionalities onto a single chip. Leveraging advanced virtualisation technology, it enables cockpit infotainment and driver assistance features to run concurrently on the same silicon, effectively lowering system costs, latency, and electrical/electronic (E/E) architecture complexity. As of 2026, it has secured design wins for 9 vehicle programmes, with production models such as the ARCFOX Wendao V9, all-new ARCFOX Alpha-T5, and ARCFOX Alpha-S5 already rolling off the line.

  • Snapdragon Ride Elite (Snapdragon 8797): The next-generation flagship ADAS platform announced in October 2024, scheduled to begin sampling in 2025. Powered by the Hexagon NPU, it delivers a 12-fold leap in AI processing performance over its predecessor, supporting real-time deployment of multi-modal AI models with billions of parameters as well as end-to-end VLA (Vision-Language-Action) models. It also accommodates over 40 camera inputs alongside multi-modal sensor fusion, fully capable of executing end-to-end Transformer algorithms.

Ecosystem Partnerships and Mass Production Progress

Thanks to its open and flexible architecture, the Snapdragon Ride platform has been adopted by over 20 global automakers across more than 30 Chinese automotive brand programmes. Notable marques that have rolled out the platform include Leapmotor, FAW Hongqi, BAIC ARCFOX, Chery Automobile, Dongfeng Nissan, and SAIC-GM.

Across the software ecosystem, DeepRoute.ai has rolled out the industry's first production-ready ADAS solution based on Snapdragon Ride Elite, enabling commercial deployment of VLA models. QCraft has completed development and public road testing for both Highway NOA and Urban NOA functions on the SA8650P and SA8775P platforms, with global commercial deliveries scheduled to commence in 2026. Autonomous driving specialists such as Momenta, WeRide, and Zhuoyu Technology are likewise developing their next-generation ADAS solutions on the platform.

On the international OEM front, BMW has achieved commercial production with the Snapdragon Ride Pilot system jointly developed with Qualcomm, making its debut on the BMW iX3, the trailblazer of the BMW Neue Klasse EV line-up. Bosch has also expanded its partnership with Qualcomm to engineer an integrated ADAS platform based on Snapdragon Ride, with the first production vehicles utilising this solution slated to hit the market in 2028.
