Model Overview

The Polestar 4 is a high-performance all-electric SUV under the Polestar marque, positioned as a coupe-crossover SUV. Built on Geely’s PMA1 platform, it made its global debut in 2023 as a pivotal model completing the brand's line-up between the Polestar 3 and Polestar 5. As of 2026, the Polestar 4 on sale comprises mainly the 2025 and 2026 model-year variants. In terms of dimensions, the 2026 model measures 4,839–4,840 mm in length, 2,008 mm in width, and 1,534 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,999 mm. The 2025 model carried a starting price of RM338,000 in its domestic market, while the 2026 overseas model starts at around USD 64,300.

Design Language

The Polestar 4 continues the marque's signature Scandinavian minimalist design philosophy. The front fascia features the distinctive dual-blade split LED headlight cluster, complemented by a bold trapezoidal lower air intake on the front bumper. The side profile is sculpted with sleek crossover-coupe contours, accentuated by flush pop-out door handles and large alloy wheels that evoke an athletic stance. At the rear, it adopts an innovative design by completely omitting the rear windscreen, matched with a full-width slim LED light bar that stands out as the most recognisable hallmark of the Polestar 4. The vehicle also features an illuminated brand logo and a powered liftback tailgate.

Inside, the cabin fully embraces the Scandinavian aesthetic, utilizing a substantial amount of sustainable and eco-friendly materials. The cockpit is anchored by a 15.4-inch central touchscreen (1920x1200 resolution), complemented by a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster and an 8.9-inch digital rear-view mirror, with a 14.7-inch Head-Up Display (HUD) added from the 2025 model onwards. The infotainment system is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 processor running the Meizu-developed Polestar OS, with comprehensive smartphone integration including Apple CarPlay. Thanks to its generous 2,999 mm wheelbase, rear legroom and passenger space are remarkably commodious.

Powertrain and Performance

The Polestar 4 is offered in two powertrain layouts: Single Motor Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) and Dual Motor All-Wheel Drive (AWD). The single-motor variant puts out 200 kW (approx. 272 PS) and 343 Nm of torque, completing the 0–100 km/h sprint in 7.1 seconds. The dual-motor version delivers a total output of 400 kW (approx. 544 PS) and 686 Nm of peak torque, taking just 3.8 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h. Both versions share a top speed of 200 km/h.

On the battery front, the single-motor variant is upgraded to a 100 kWh battery pack from the 2025 model year onwards, delivering a CLTC range of up to 755 km; the dual-motor model also houses a 100 kWh battery pack, offering a CLTC range of 620 km. For charging, DC fast charging takes approximately 0.5 hours (30 minutes).

Chassis and Handling

Underneath, the Polestar 4 rides on a high-spec suspension setup featuring front double-wishbones and a rear multi-link independent configuration, paired with Continuous Damping Control (CDC) electromagnetic dampers. The suspension filters out road chatter and bumps with remarkable composure, while the low centre of gravity, balanced weight distribution, and high structural rigidity deliver Polestar's sharpest steering response yet. The steering system provides three selectable weight settings. For braking, the dual-motor model offers optional Brembo gold-painted 4-piston opposed calipers. Drivetrain-wise, the single-motor variant is rear-motor rear-wheel drive, whereas the dual-motor version uses an electronic all-wheel drive setup.

Cabin and Equipment

In terms of equipment, Nappa leather upholstery is standard from the 2025 model onwards, featuring front seats with ventilation and massage functions, along with power-reclining and heated rear seats. The steering wheel comes with power adjustment, heating, and memory functions. In-car entertainment is elevated by a 16-speaker Harman Kardon premium audio system. In addition, a hands-free powered tailgate and independent rear climate control come as standard. Boot capacity is rated at 526 litres.

Safety and Driver Assistance

On the safety front, the Polestar 4 is equipped with dual front airbags, side chest protection, and side curtain airbags, with a front-row centre airbag fitted as standard. Forward and rear collision warning systems are standard across the line-up. The Polestar 4 has attained a top 5-star safety rating from ANCAP (Australasian New Car Assessment Program). Its Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) employs 1 mid-range radar, 11 external cameras, and 12 ultrasonic sensors to continuously monitor the vehicle's perimeter.

For intelligent driving, the Polestar 4 comes equipped with a Level 2 driver assistance system. Key features include Full-Speed Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Centring Assist, Automatic Lane Change Assist, Highway Navigation Pilot, Automated Parking Assist, and Blind Spot Monitoring. A highway navigation pilot assistance function for major arterial expressways is newly added from the 2025 model onwards.
