The Peugeot 3008 is a core compact crossover SUV from the French carmaker Peugeot. The first-generation 3008 made its official global debut in France in January 2009, before entering the Chinese market in December 2010 and commencing local production via Dongfeng Peugeot in January 2013. Now in its third generation, the model was first revealed in Europe in September 2023. The all-new generation 3008 has evolved from a conventional SUV profile into a sleek fastback coupe-SUV silhouette, built on Stellantis Group's STLA Medium platform. In the Chinese market, the Dongfeng Peugeot 3008 previously offered two powertrain options—a 2.0L naturally aspirated engine and a 1.6T turbocharged unit—priced between RM159,700 and RM214,700. Currently, production of the Peugeot 3008 in China has ended, with dealers clearing remaining stock.

Design Language
The first-generation 3008 drew its design inspiration from the Prologue concept car showcased at the 2008 Paris Motor Show, fusing the ride height of an SUV, the cabin length of an MPV, and the tidy tail of a hatchback to pioneer a distinctive crossover silhouette. The locally produced first-generation 3008 measured 4,428 mm in length, 1,840 mm in width, and 1,652 mm in height, with a 2,613 mm wheelbase—growing in every dimension compared to the imported version (4,365/1,837/1,639 mm).
The third-generation 3008 marks a radical design departure, transforming from a traditional SUV into a dynamic coupe-SUV. Up front, a body-coloured grille blends seamlessly with the flat shield lion emblem to deliver a cohesive visual look. Signature "lion claw" LED daytime running lights (DRLs) and Pixel LED headlights (on GT variants) reinforce the brand's unmistakable visual identity. The rear is fitted with 3D crystal-effect lion claw LED tail lights. Dimension-wise, the third-generation 3008 measures 4,542 mm long, 1,895 mm wide, and 1,641–1,666 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,730–2,739 mm, making it larger all round than its predecessor. The crossover bagged the prestigious Red Dot Design Award in the Product Design category in 2024. Inside, the cabin showcases the latest-generation Panoramic i-Cockpit concept, headlined by a prominent 21-inch curved panoramic display that seamlessly integrates the digital instrument cluster and central infotainment screen. Premium upholstery options, including Nappa leather seats, are also available.
Powertrain and Performance
The third-generation Peugeot 3008 offers a comprehensive lineup of electrified powertrains, covering 48V mild hybrid (MHEV), plug-in hybrid (PHEV), and fully electric (BEV) variants.
The 48V mild hybrid version is powered by a heavily revised 1.2L three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, paired with a six-speed e-DSC6 dual-clutch automatic gearbox that houses an integrated electric motor, delivering a combined system output of 136 hp (approx. 100 kW). The 0–100 km/h sprint is completed in 10.2 seconds. The mild hybrid setup does not feature a selectable pure electric mode; instead, the system automatically determines when to run solely on electric power based on engine load, which occurs primarily under low-speed driving conditions.
The plug-in hybrid variant combines a 1.6L turbocharged engine with an electric motor for a total system output of 195 hp. Backed by a 21 kWh battery pack, it delivers an all-electric range of up to 52 miles (approx. 84 km), completing the 0–100 km/h benchmark in 7.8 seconds.
The all-electric E-3008 is offered in single-motor and dual-motor configurations, with power outputs spanning 210 hp to 320 hp. Battery capacities are available in 73 kWh and 96.9 kWh options, delivering a maximum WLTP-rated driving range of up to 701 km.
Chassis and Handling
The third-generation Peugeot 3008 is underpinned by Stellantis Group's STLA Medium platform. This new architecture is engineered to boost body rigidity, shed kerb weight, and enhance NVH insulation. The suspension setup consists of front MacPherson struts and a rear torsion beam, paired with a front-engine, front-wheel-drive layout. Steering is handled by an electric power steering system; reviews from Top Gear noted that while steering response is eager and cornering confidence is high, road feedback remains somewhat muted. Minor body pitch and roll are noticeable over rougher B-roads. Thanks to refined powertrain calibration, low-end responsiveness on the 48V mild hybrid variant is markedly improved over the older 1.2T engine.
Cabin and Features
The interior of the third-generation 3008 centres around the Panoramic i-Cockpit design. The 21-inch curved panoramic screen unifies the digital driver display and central infotainment touchscreen into a single sweeping panel. The infotainment unit supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Customisable touch-sensitive i-Toggles allow drivers to configure shortcuts for frequently accessed functions like climate control, navigation, or media. For audio, range-topping variants come equipped with a 10-speaker Focal Premium Hi-Fi sound system. Comfort amenities include dual-zone automatic climate control, a wireless smartphone charging pad, a panoramic sunroof, and multi-way power-adjustable seats with heating, ventilation, massage, and memory functions. Boot capacity stands at a generous 520 litres in standard configuration.
Safety and Intelligent Driving
The third-generation Peugeot 3008 is comprehensively equipped with active and passive safety features. A 360-degree surround-view camera system comes standard across the entire lineup. Active safety systems include mainstream ADAS features such as Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM), and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC). On the passive safety front, a high-strength chassis structure and multiple airbags are standard across all variants. Backed by its robust safety package, the third-generation 3008 has earned high ratings in independent crash tests, including Euro NCAP.
Market Performance and Reception
The Peugeot 3008 has posted strong sales figures globally. On 24 September 2025, the Sochaux plant rolled out the 200,000th unit of the third-generation 3008. Across the EU30 markets, the 3008 ranked among the top five best-selling models in the C-SUV segment. In its home market of France, the 3008 led the C-SUV sales charts, while claiming second place in Portugal. The third-generation 3008 was named one of the "Top 10 Cars" at the 2025–2026 Japan Car of the Year, while its Smart Hybrid version scooped two "Design of the Year" titles at the 2026 Korea Car of the Year awards.
In the Chinese market, however, the Peugeot 3008 struggled to gain strong sales momentum after going into local production. While the first-generation locally built model initially drew buyers with its crossover silhouette and French flair, it faced intense competition from German, Japanese, and domestic Chinese brands, resulting in sustained sluggish sales. The third-generation 3008 is currently sold only as an import in select regional markets (such as Taiwan), where the 2026 model year 3008 is offered in three variants—Allure, GT Cielo, and GT Nappa Cielo—with retail prices ranging from RM1,288,000 to RM1,548,000. In mainland China, influenced by brand recognition, pricing strategies, and the rapid shift towards new energy vehicles, the third-generation Peugeot 3008 has yet to be introduced for local production.
As a cornerstone strategic model for the Peugeot brand, the 3008 has evolved through three generations since its debut in 2009. From an early crossover merging SUV, MPV, and hatchback elements to today's coupe-SUV profile with a full embrace of electrified powertrains, it reflects the French brand's continuous exploration and progress in the compact SUV segment.
