The OMODA 7 is a D-segment plug-in hybrid SUV launched under Chery Group's OMODA brand. As a global model built exclusively for overseas markets, the SUV is currently not sold in China, nor are there concrete plans for a domestic release, leaving its eventual entry into the Chinese domestic market uncertain.
The OMODA 7 was first previewed at the Beijing Auto Show in April 2024, with the production version making its official debut at Auto Shanghai 2025. The SUV will be rolled out across several global markets between late 2025 and early 2026, starting at GBP 29,915 in the UK, EUR 42,901 in Spain, and from EUR 38,900 in Germany. In terms of dimensions, it measures 4,660 mm long, 1,875 mm wide, and 1,670 mm tall, with a 2,720 mm wheelbase, positioning it as a mid-size five-seater SUV. The 0-100 km/h sprint takes 8.4 to 8.5 seconds, on to a top speed of 180 km/h. Energy is stored in an 18.3 kWh BYD lithium iron phosphate (LFP) Blade battery, providing a WLTP-rated pure electric range of 90 to 92 km and an overall cruising range exceeding 1,200 km. The WLTP combined fuel consumption is rated at roughly 2.3 L/100 km with CO2 emissions of 23 g/km. The petrol version is powered by a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine churning out 145 to 147 hp and 290 Nm of torque, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT), completing the 0-100 km/h run in 10.4 seconds with a top speed of 190 km/h.
Underpinned by an extended version of the OMODA 5 platform, the OMODA 7's chassis has been tuned by Chery's German R&D centre specifically to suit European driving conditions. Suspension duties are handled by MacPherson struts at the front and a multi-link setup at the rear. The PHEV variant is front-wheel drive (FWD) only. Kerb weight sits close to two tonnes. It is equipped with an electric power steering (EPS) system. The traction battery is mounted flat along the floorpan, which effectively lowers the centre of gravity for enhanced stability.

Other notable amenities include four-zone voice command, an in-car fragrance system, LED ambient lighting, and active noise cancellation (ANC). The front seats feature power adjustment, heating, ventilation, and massage functions. Boot space is rated from 537 litres, expanding up to 1,294 litres with the rear seats folded.
The OMODA 7 comes standard across the range with a suite of 19 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). Key functions include: full-speed Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB with vehicle, pedestrian, and cyclist detection), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Keep Assist (LKA), Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM), and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA). Active safety is further enhanced by a 540-degree panoramic camera system with a transparent chassis view. On the passive safety front, 8 airbags are fitted as standard, covering dual front, front side, and full-length curtain airbags. A high-strength cage body structure provides robust crash safety protection.
OMODA is steadily rolling out the OMODA 7 across major global markets. In Spain, prices start from EUR 42,901, with the standard variant priced at EUR 38,900 and the top-spec Premium trim at EUR 41,900. Compared to the flagship OMODA 9, the pricing gap is clear, giving the well-equipped OMODA 7 strong value-for-money appeal. Bookings are already open in select markets, with customer deliveries scheduled to begin in early 2026. In terms of market outlook, its entry price in Spain undercuts the Toyota RAV4 by around EUR 4,000, giving it a strong competitive edge. Industry reviews have widely praised its sharp styling, roomy cabin, the innovative sliding touchscreen, and its impressive combined range of over 1,200 km. However, some reviewers noted that the heavy reliance on a minimalist, screen-based layout compromises ergonomics, while its 40 kW DC fast-charging rate for the European market lags behind several rival Chinese EV/PHEV offerings.
