2026-10-02 14:50:00

Model Overview

The Livan 7 is an all-electric compact coupe SUV under Livan Auto. Founded on 24 January 2022, Livan Auto is a battery-swapping EV mobility brand jointly established by Geely Auto and Lifan Technology. Officially launched in September 2023, the Livan 7 is the first family SUV built on the all-new, proprietary GBRC Crystal Architecture, which shares its lineage with Geely’s SEA (Sustainable Experience Architecture) platform. In 2024, the line-up was expanded with the addition of the Executive Edition, Executive Flagship Edition, and 450 Honour Edition variants. Currently, the model is priced between RM117,700 and RM179,700. Positioned as an "intelligent rear-wheel-drive coupe SUV", its primary rivals in the C-segment EV category include the AION Y and BYD Song PLUS EV.

Design Language

The Livan 7 adopts a design philosophy officially dubbed "Natural Breathing Aesthetics". Up front, it features the signature closed-off grille typical of electric vehicles, paired with a full-width LED light bar and split-type headlamp clusters. Air guide channels sit on either side of the front bumper, complemented by a sleek black lower apron that lends the front fascia a clean and sophisticated stance. In profile, the SUV sports a sleek fastback roofline and a floating roof design, equipped with flush pop-out door handles. Around the back, it features full-width LED tail lights, while an integrated ducktail rear spoiler optimises aerodynamic efficiency. The vehicle achieves an impressive drag coefficient of just 0.238 Cd. In terms of dimensions, the EV measures 4,690 mm in length, 1,892 mm in width, and 1,650 mm in height, with a 2,775 mm wheelbase. Exterior paint choices include monotone and dual-tone colour schemes.

Inside, the Livan 7 features a clean T-shaped dashboard layout with virtually no physical buttons on the centre console. It comes equipped with a two-spoke multi-function steering wheel, a 9.2-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 15.4-inch 2.5K floating infotainment touchscreen. Higher-grade variants further gain a 50-inch AR-HUD (Augmented Reality Head-Up Display), forming a comprehensive "tri-screen ultra-HD visual cockpit". Upholstered in dual-tone trim with faux suede accents, the cabin delivers a minimalist and contemporary aesthetic.

Powertrain & Performance

The Livan 7 is offered in both front-wheel-drive (FWD) and rear-wheel-drive (RWD) configurations. In terms of output, the front single-motor version produces 120 kW (approx. 163 PS) and 240 Nm of torque; the rear single-motor version pushes out 180 kW (approx. 245 PS) and 385 Nm. The RWD variant achieves a 0-100 km/h sprint in 6.8 seconds. Top speed is rated at 190 km/h for the RWD version and 150 km/h for the FWD version.

In terms of electric range, the Livan 7 provides two CLTC-rated options: 450 km and 605 km. The 450 km version is equipped with a 50.4 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, whereas the 605 km version packs a 68.03 kWh ternary lithium battery. With DC fast charging, a 30% to 80% state-of-charge top-up takes around 30 minutes. Furthermore, underpinned by the GBRC Crystal Architecture, the Livan 7 supports 1-minute ultra-fast battery swapping alongside conventional DC fast charging and AC home wallbox charging options.

Chassis & Handling

The chassis setup is one of the key selling points of the Livan 7. The vehicle features a front MacPherson strut independent suspension, while the rear suspension setup varies across variants—the RWD model is equipped with a five-link independent suspension, whereas the FWD model employs a torsion beam non-independent setup. The rear five-link independent setup is a rare sight in this segment, typically reserved for models priced above the RM200,000 bracket. The chassis tuning strikes a fine balance between ride comfort and handling, effectively absorbing road surface irregularities while maintaining solid body control through bends. The Livan 7 also introduces a "Stepless DIY RWD" driving customisation system, allowing drivers to tailor parameters such as steering assistance, throttle response, regenerative braking intensity, and braking profiles to their liking. Braking performance is equally sharp, clocking a 100-0 km/h stopping distance of 35.6 metres, with a tight turning radius of 5.4 metres. Tyre sizes are 235/55 R18 for the RWD variant and 215/55 R18 for the FWD variant.

Cockpit & Equipment

In terms of in-cabin technology, the Livan 7 is powered by China's first 7nm automotive-grade smart cockpit chipset—Geely's self-developed "Dragon Hawk-1" (Longying One) . The SoC delivers computing performance on par with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155. The vehicle's infotainment system operates smoothly on this hardware, supporting GPS navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, smartphone screen mirroring, connected car services (IoV), OTA software updates, voice control recognition, and Wi-Fi hotspot functions. A wireless smartphone charging pad is integrated into the centre console. On the entertainment front, a 6-speaker sound system is fitted as standard across the range.

For comfort and convenience, leatherette upholstery, automatic climate control, rear air-con vents, and dual-zone air-conditioning come standard across all variants. Higher-spec trims add a panoramic glass roof with an electric sunshade, an energy-efficient driver-seat heat pump system, a powered tailgate, and a 50L front boot (frunk). In terms of storage capacity, the boot offers 402 litres of standard luggage space, expanding up to 811 litres with the rear seats folded down. Thanks to the 2,775 mm wheelbase, rear-seat occupants enjoy generous legroom, with up to two fists of knee clearance for an adult measuring 175 cm in height.

Safety & Driver Assistance

On the safety front, the Livan 7 benefits from the inherently high structural integrity of the GBRC Crystal Architecture. Its battery pack employs a "honeycomb" impact-absorbing structure designed to cushion crash forces in stages, backed by millisecond-level high-voltage power cut-off protection. The capsule battery has completed over 100 extreme safety tests, ensuring high levels of protection under collisions, deep water wading, and thermal runaway scenarios. Passive safety features include standard driver and front passenger airbags, front side airbags, side curtain airbags, and a knee airbag.

For smart driving capabilities, the Livan 7 is equipped with 32 perception sensors, including 1 RoboSense M-series LiDAR unit, 5 4D millimetre-wave radars, and 12 ultrasonic sensors, bolstered by low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellite positioning assistance from the "Geely Future Mobility Constellation". This hardware suite supports Level 2+ (L2+) advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). Functions include Full-Speed Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Intelligent Cruise Assist (ICA), Traffic Jam Assist (TJA), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Departure Warning and Prevention (LDW/LDP), Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR), and a 360-degree surround-view camera with a transparent chassis display. The system also supports multi-level automated parking and memory parking features.

Market Performance & Reception

Following its commercial launch, market uptake for the Livan 7 has remained relatively subdued. Monthly sales stood at 636 units in December 2023, before hovering between 100 and 130 units throughout 2025, and declining further into single digits to around 43 units between January and March 2026. Automotive analysts have noted that the Livan 7 is facing the imminent risk of market marginalisation. Among existing owners, feedback has been favourable regarding its real-world range efficiency (achieving up to 95.8% range retention in real-world tests) and practical amenities like the AR-HUD and wireless charging; however, some critics point out that its exterior styling cues are overly familiar in today's EV market, appearing somewhat generic. Overall, backed by key USPs including the GBRC Crystal Architecture, rear-wheel drive with five-link rear suspension, a 6.8-second 0-100 km/h acceleration, 605 km range, the Dragon Hawk-1 cockpit chip, and a LiDAR-equipped L2+ ADAS suite, the Livan 7 delivers strong, differentiated product value in the RM120,000 to RM180,000 electric SUV segment; nonetheless, hampered by limited brand awareness and intense market competition, there remains considerable room for commercial growth.
