The KGM Actyon is a mid-size coupe SUV from South Korea's KG Mobility (formerly SsangYong Motor). The Actyon nameplate was first introduced by SsangYong Motor in 2005 as one of the pioneers in the coupe SUV segment, predating even the BMW X6. In 2024, KGM launched the all-new Actyon, built upon the platform of its popular Torres SUV. As of June 2026, the model has yet to be officially introduced to the mainland Chinese market.

Positioned as a mid-size coupe SUV (dubbed an "SUC" or Sport Utility Coupé by the carmaker), the Actyon focuses on dynamic styling and modern tech appointments. Built on the Torres platform, it serves as a longer, wider, and lower coupe-styled sibling to the Torres. Key rivals include the Kia Sportage and Hyundai Tucson. In its home market of South Korea, it debuted in August 2024 with a price tag ranging from KRW 33.95 million to KRW 36.49 million (approx. RM180,000 to RM193,000). For the Australian market, the 2025 model starts from AUD 26,990 (approx. RM127,000).
The all-new Actyon features a striking, futuristic exterior design packed with high-tech flair. Up front, it sports full-width LED daytime running lights (DRLs) with a distinctive digital dot-matrix pattern. The primary headlamp units are mounted lower on either flank, seamlessly integrated into the air intakes. A broad central lower grille accentuates its sporty stance. Along the sides, sharp character lines and an upswept beltline convey a muscular profile. Round the back, slim horizontal LED taillights combine with a steeply raked rear windscreen to highlight its athletic coupe SUV silhouette. 20-inch alloy wheels come standard across all variants. Dimension-wise, it measures 4,740 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width, and 1,680 mm in height, with a 2,680 mm wheelbase.
Inside, the Actyon carries over the marque's latest cabin design philosophy. The dashboard features a driver-centric layout. A newly designed two-spoke, flat-bottom steering wheel does away with the old SsangYong emblem, replaced by clean "KGM" badging to signify the brand's new era. Two dual-tone interior themes are on offer—Camel/Beige and Black/Red—trimmed in a combination of suede and genuine leather.
The Actyon is available in both pure petrol and hybrid powertrains. The petrol variant is powered by a 1.5-litre GDi turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine producing 163 to 170 PS (120 to 125 kW) and 280 Nm of peak torque. KGM notes that this output edges out the Kia Sportage's 1.6-litre unit by 4 PS and 16 Nm. Power is channelled through a third-generation Aisin six-speed automatic gearbox, available in front-wheel drive (FWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) configurations.
The electrified Actyon Hybrid made its South Korean debut in July 2025. It features the Dual Tech Hybrid System (a P1+P3 dual-motor architecture) co-developed by KGM and BYD. Engineered around the concept of an "EV that doesn't need plugging in", it can operate in pure electric mode for up to 94% of urban driving scenarios. European sales of the hybrid variant commenced in January 2026.
Sharing its underpinnings with the Torres, the Actyon rides on front MacPherson struts and a rear multi-link independent suspension setup. While exact ground clearance figures remain unquoted, its lower overall vehicle height (1,680 mm) yields a lower centre of gravity than the Torres. Buyers can opt for either FWD or an on-demand AWD system. The SUV also boasts a braked towing capacity of up to 1.5 tonnes.
Dominating the cockpit is a dual 12.3-inch screen setup comprising a fully digital instrument cluster and a central infotainment touchscreen. The central display is angled subtly toward the driver for effortless reach. The system also supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
On the creature comfort front, the Actyon offers 32-colour ambient lighting, a crystal-style toggle gear selector, a wireless smartphone charging pad, heated and ventilated front and rear seats, as well as a heated steering wheel. Flagship grades are further upgraded with premium Nappa leather upholstery.
Boot space stands at a generous 668 litres under standard conditions, expandable to 1,568 litres with the rear seats folded flat.
The Actyon meets segment benchmarks when it comes to safety. Passive safety is bolstered by 8 airbags fitted as standard. On the active safety front, it packs a comprehensive Level 2 ADAS suite, which includes Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control (IACC) , Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Blind Spot Detection (BSD), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Intelligent Speed Limit Assist (ISLA), and Driver Attention Warning (DAW). Dynamic safety systems such as Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Active Rollover Protection (ARP), and Trailer Sway Control (TSC) are also standard equipment.
The Actyon enjoyed a blistering start upon opening order books in South Korea. Following the start of pre-orders in July 2024, it racked up over 16,000 bookings on day one and surpassed 35,000 orders within its first week. However, momentum cooled slightly once deliveries began, with August sales dipping to 915 units before rebounding to 1,686 units in September.
On the international stage, export shipments commenced in late 2024, progressively rolling out across Europe (including Germany and the UK) and Australia. In media reviews, UK publication Parkers commended the cabin refinement and low NVH levels (aided by sound-absorbing Michelin tyres), though noted that its relatively firm ride compromised rough-road comfort compared to class competitors. Nevertheless, with its "no-plug EV" appeal and competitive pricing (KRW 36.95 million in South Korea, or around USD 26,800), the Actyon Hybrid maintains a compelling value proposition in its domestic hybrid SUV segment.
